In a nutshell, Home is a 2 bedroom (one queen one twin bed) with one bath. Located on a quiet canal, screened lanai and no pool. $1900 rent, $500 refundable security deposit and $100 cleaning fee. Those are the complete costs. Utilities and satellite included. No Phone or Wifi. No Pets and a non-smoking interior.
Thank you for a wonderful 2014-2015. Instead of significantly raising prices to keep up with the increases in insurance, satellite, electric, water and maintenance, I stayed at a low rate. Therefore, I do not offer discounts for multiple month stays or senior citizen status. Many of our good visitors want to stay for 3 months or more and all are seniors. No Pets Please. I am entertaining three month stays first.
Bring the boat! Bring the camper! Bring the RV. Bring the motorcycle with parking on premises!

HOW TO PROCEED WITH A RENTAL
If you have completed your search of homes and have decided on mine, then please do respond to my ad. I will then email an application which will lead to a lease, payment and the home is then reserved. All the terms are complete in my listing with little room for change. The availability calendar is accurate and the ad updated when a contract is pending. So if you're ready to rent, please don't delay as this home will not last long on the market.
Please be assured I am the sole owner of my properties which I purchased over 11 years ago. I selected Charlotte County based on research and government published facts that the air quality exceeds national standards (a pleasure to breath), low crime rates, and a low-density population. I have found the local residents to be courteous and friendly and the traffic more than tolerable.
Now the good stuff:
According to CNN Money 09.02.09-PORT CHARLOTTE IS THE #1 PLACE TO RETIRE IN THE USA!!! And again in Oct 2011 Port Charlotte was rated one of the top ten cities in the nation to retire. They cite a population of 48,000 with 44% over the age of 50, top notch medical facilities and a Cultural Center which offers year round classes on just about everything. Come and see what all the excitement is about!
A beautiful public beach complete with large and lovely well-maintained public pool is just 5 minutes away as well as a full-service library with multiple computer stations.
You will find 28 local marinas, 13 boat ramps some with recreational areas offering kayak or canoe rentals, picnic and playgrounds. There are 16 fishing piers for the non-boaters and plenty of charter boats to get you to your destination.
Don't miss the beautiful and romantic sunset cruises or take one of the 13 boat tours.
Charlotte Harbor Center spans 840 acres providing nature trails, picnic areas, a game preserve offering fishing, hunting, frogging and camping. Eco Tours has swamp buggy trips thru old Florida. There are 6 environmental parks for the nature lovers and a kayak adventure tour on the Blue Way Trail. There are 15 public beaches located along the 12.5 miles of the Gulf Coast.
Centrally located you have quick access to shopping, restaurants, Fisherman's Village for night life (Punta Gorda's just a shout away) and there are always plenty of weekend events and festivals year round. Disney is just 2.5 hours north. Take your motorcycle on a tour and drop by Gatorz which is just down the block and a popular hangout for all the yuppie bikers.
And if you're a sports fan, the Tampa Bay Rays spring train at the beautiful new stadium across from the Charlotte County Fair Grounds. A 20-minute ride to all kinds of special events which abound during season. And it's only 18 minutes to Warm Mineral Springs to soothe your aching areas.
I also suggest a trip to Boca Grande (President Bush's Florida vacation destination and he was just here January 2011), Venice and old town on Dearborn in Englewood for their art shows and street festivals, the annual Strawberry Festival in Plant City, dog racing in Sarasota, the beautiful beaches at Manasota Key (stop and eat at Howard's on 776 - you won't be disappointed).
Port Charlotte is abundant in hospital and medical care. It is a burgeoning center for medical professionals and which serves as its own "attraction".
A BEACH FOR EVERY INTEREST
According to the Beaches of of Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf Island's site, you can go shelling, stroll nature trails, swim, fish and even frolic on playgrounds at one of our many beautiful beaches.
If you love to dig in the sand, you'll want to visit Englewood Beach, known for its wide shoreline .. The adjoining Chadwick Park has a playground as well as restrooms. Budding archaeologists and marine biologists will have a field day at Stump Pass Beach State Park, where fossilized sharks' teeth pepper the beach when the tide comes in. Covered picnic tables are available.
Charlotte Beach Park, the beach closest to your home has a heated swimming pool, fishing pier, and picnic shelters. Canoe and kayak rentals are available from this harbor-front park which is also a favorite for sunset viewing.
Nature lovers flock to the natural wonders at Don Pedro Island State Park. This barrier island is home to an array of Florida flora and fauna, including giant leather ferns, West Indian manatees, gopher tortoises, American oyster catchers and bald eagles. Tarpon and snook abound for the fisherman. The secluded beaches here are accessible by public ferry or private boat.
On Manasota Key, Blind Pass Beach covers 66 acres of sand dunes, nature trails and shorelines. Picnic shelters and restrooms are available.
AREA FLEA MARKETS

Also, Mount Dora Florida is the antique capital of the State and just a 2-hour drive.

Rented the property on Easy Street from Jonie. Very simple, but clean and close to everything. We were visiting friends in the area and just used the house to sleep. Much more comfortable and reasonable than a hotel.

Great monthly rental. Good location. It is reasonably close to beaches and if someone is a fisherman would have lots of choices to go fishing. House has 2 bedrooms with a third room that could be used for another one if needed. Neighborhood is mixed retirees and blue collar workers and feels safe enough to walk and ride bikes even after dark. Services very close and lots of stores within 10 miles
March 2013 - Great Place. This was my first visit to Port Charlotte having spent the past few years in Fort Meyers. We definitely were not disappointed in the change! It met our needs with less traffic, decent driving to the beaches which were wonderful, and to the MN Twins games. Warm Mineral Springs was awesome and we enjoyed Fisherman's Village. My husband was able to get in some good fishing as well. The house definitely met our needs and was very comfortable. Joan was just a phone call away in case we needed anything. We had such a great time we have already made our reservations with Joan for 2013. Highly recommend. Cherrye T, Blue Earth, MN
March, 2011 - I was very pleased with my one month stay. The house was exactly as described. In the rare instance when something needed service (burned out light bulbs), the work was completed promptly and courteously. The overall arrangement was very professional. I was unable to submit my review directly to the site as my reservation was made by phone. J Levy, Manhattan NY
Quiet Winter Getaway - We stayed at the home on Elkcam for Feb 2011 and found it very nice, clean and spacious. Quiet neighborhood close to more shopping then you can imagine and very convenient to beautiful Punta Gorda and Venice. We also found even on the hottest days the interior of the house remained cool and comfortable without having to use the a/c. The owner was gracious and considerate - all you need to move in are your clothes and groceries. Everything else is provided. We were surprised by the lovely gift basket and enjoyed it very much. We tried to enter our comments through the vacation site but their submit button wouldn't work. Ken & Angie Smith, Niagara Fall, Ontario
We're having a blast! My husband told me to tell you we both felt at home and will look you up should we come this way again. Your house here is very homey and the location was midway to Siesta Key and Fort Meyers Beach. We enjoyed all the different fishing piers and also went deep sea fishing on a charter out of Venice. The area is retirees and starter homes and the street was very peaceful. We opted to use our vacation money for fun trips rather than an expensive resort view. E Brown, Clarkston MI, Nov 2010.
Vacationed at the Croton House in 2010. "Loved, the house - it was perfect for us." The Kirbys, Addison,Vermont
"Vacationing on Easy Street in January 2010 was great. When we arrived we opened the door, Joan had everything looking so nice. She thought of everything, the carpet was clean, the bed made with clean sheets, nice TV with lots of channels, everything you need in the kitchen, even a filtered water pitcher. She already had soap for the laundry. The yard was nice with a fence around it and the cottage was easy to take care of. We truly enjoyed our stay and thank her for everything". The Gilpatricks, Crossville TN
"The owner was very easy to work with. The home was more than we had hoped for and our dog enjoyed the vacation as much as we did. We enjoyed our time there and will be renting in the future. Highly recommend." Sherry & Greg 2008
