The good, bad, and the ugly!

April 19, 2015

We rented this home from January to the end of March 2015. I'll start off to say when we pulled up we really liked the way it looked from the outside. The garage was filled with all the owners things and a half dozen of broken down rusty bikes. We go into the house and the first thing we noticed was the smell of urine from the bathrooms and the smell of mold in the showers. The sinks and counter tops were dirty with hair and dust. We walked across the tile floors with white socks on and the they were black after one pass. Our biggest mistake was not telling the owner from the beginning but they did rent the house to us for 2,000 a month . Karl came to the house the next day and I ask him if they had someone clean the house and he stated, sometimes but I've been out of work so I've been doing it. So, I didn't say anything in fear they would kick us out. The oven was filthy , which I did not use at all and was charged for a cleaning fee. We spent over 100.00 in cleaning supplies and spent 8 hours cleaning the house after a 17 hour drive. EVERY sheet and EVERY towel in the place smelled like sour linens. I hade to bleach everything to even be able to use them. There was a set of sheets on the master bed which smelled musty like it had not been washed after use. We noticed the pool had a leak in it from the first day which we told them the water was low. We had to add water to the pool every other day and never used it at all until we were there for 2 months. It was too cold to use. In turn they deducted a water charge and elect charge from our deposit. The carpet was horrible which I mentioned to Karl and he stated yes we need to lift it or have it cleaned. They blamed us for the carpet stains. The mops were so dirty and old it was like mopping with dirt! The vacuum got so hot we placed it in the garage in fear of a fire. They had so many clothed and their things sitting around in that house we hardly had enough room for our things. We had to rent living room furniture for the 3 months because theirs was like sitting on the floor. The cable is very basic , 10 channels and they charged us double of what it cost to upgrade. They will keep a portion of your deposit no matter what. The neighbors all told us they NEVER have return renters, their good reviews are their friends coming on here giving them a good review. They lied, and stole our money. BEWARE!

Nice home but be cautious of low price

April 9, 2015

We rented this home for a week in November. Great location, Great neighborhood and great pool. it had plenty of room and everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Smelled a little musky when we arrived, like it had been closed up for a while. Several used up renuzit deodorizers sitting around but nothing a little Lysol didnt fix. We left several items we had purchased for our weeks stay just to help the next visitor out a little. We treated the home just like it was our own during our stay. Needless to say after we arrived home the owner kept $80 of our deposit stating the dining room chairs, couch and carpet were soiled. Nothing looked any different the day we left from the day we arrived. Be cautious of the low price of this home. That could be the way the owner gets more money. The lady I talked with before and during our stay was very polite and quick in getting back to any questions I had. But wouldnt respond to my email when i was unhappy about part of my deposit being kept. I have been renting homes and condos for 25 years and have never had a deposit kept before. A nice home but be cautious of the low price your deposit might be kept too. Do a thorough inspection when arriving. The carpets looked the same as when we arrived and no one ever ate a bite on the couches. So i am not sure how she came up with the problems she kept our money for. The sad thing is there is not one thing you can do about it. Beware!

Nice Stay at A Piece of Heaven

January 17, 2015

Our family spent Christmas week at A Piece of Heaven with all expectations met. Everything was as described by the owner and depicted in the pictures. Nearby supermarkets and a gas station with the cheapest gas I found anywhere in Florida during our drive down around and back. The home was huge and was clearly the owners' home with fascinating pictures. Deposit was promptly returned as agreed upon. The owner was always available when I called (just to let him know we checked in and when we left) but not needed do to everything being in order.

A Wonderful House

December 5, 2012

My husband and I rented the house for 4 weeks. We found it very comfortable and well provisioned. The neighbourhood was extremely quiet. We loved the layout of the house and it is perfect for couples that are sharing as the layout provides separate bed\bath on opposite sides of the house. We would definitely stay again.

The house was really nice. All the rooms were big, and clean. It was nice to have a pool, and my kids loved that. I recomend this as a good vac rental. Susan was a pleasure to talk with.

Great Accomodations and Location

June 16, 2012

My family had booked this weekly rental sight unseen at the last moment. We were very pleased with Susan providing us the option to take possession of the rental the same day of our inquiry! The home had all of the vacation essentials provided, and made for a great retreat for the whole family. We would recommend this home to anyone staying in Port Charlotte for a week or longer.
