Description from owner

As comfortable for two people as it is for a larger family.

This comfy and roomy little lodge is conveniently located between Port O'Connor and Port Lavaca on the Texas Gulf Coast. It is a free public beach you can drive on!

Just had a several thousand dollar upgrade and renovation. New furniture, new beds, 2 new flat screen TVs, 2 new sleeper sofas, new kitchen bar and seating and so much more!

The West End Lodge is truly your home away from home. Comfortably furnished with all the amenities of home, but at the beach. Full kitchen, all linen, appliances, washer/dryer, DISH TV, Free unlimited WI-FI, movie library, book library, magazines all with central air and heat. Fully stocked kitchen with a VERY large island to cook and entertain. Ample parking and a place to securely park your boat, as well.

More small appliances available are microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, and we provide free coffee.

Officially only 2 bedrooms, but the air conditioned and heated enclosed porch acts like a enclosed den or guest room. 2 sleeper sofas are provided for larger crowds with children. Plenty of room at 1100 square feet for 10 people.

Almost totally handicapped accessible as it is on one floor. The West End Lodge is a great cottage with a large yard for a mini-family reunion. Walking distance to the family friendly beach.

Pets considered with $30 pet fee. Fully fenced yard.

Beds: 1 King Bed, 4 Twin Beds, 2 Sofa Beds

About the area

Magnolia Beach is a family friendly beach you can also drive on. There are 20 small covered picnic shelters along the beach, all with BBQ grills. Fishing in the bay or at the nearby marina, a place to crab and a boat launch on the free beach. Super place to sail or kayak. Hiking, shelling, swimming, relaxing, dolphins in the bay, & crabbing. Conveniently located in the middle of the Texas coast for daytrips to other locations, as well. And duck hunting during the fall/winter season. This area was the first landing of the explorer, LaSalle. And next door Indianola was a huge port where a majority of the German immigration in Texas landed before going inland and establishing the towns of Victoria, Cuero, New Braunfels and Fredericksburg in the Hill Country. There is a new Texas State Park that will be open soon only a few miles away. Pets possible with $30 fee, fenced yard.

“A hidden piece of paradise!”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2015

We loved our stay here! The house is so cute and comfortable and the area is absolutely beautiful. We practically had the beach to ourselves and our dogs could run free with no issues. We needed this downtime from the hustle & bustle of Dallas. Thank you!

Owner's reply: Sandy-- Thank you so much for your feedback. Am so HAPPY that you had a wonderful time! And yes, this is a hidden jewel on the Texas Coast.

My husband and I are spending the summer in Texas with my son and his family. We decided to visit the beach. I looked at a map and found Magnolia Beach.I then goggled and found the website. We had a great time. Joyce is a super person. We will definitely plan another trip here.

Owner's reply: Thank you Annette for the kind words! You were delightful guests and am looking forward to your return!!! Safe returns to your home. Joyce Pratt

“Quaint and Comfortable”

Great home base to the Bay and Gulf without all of the traffic. Very small community but the silence was a welcome change from the city. This would be a great place for a group of anglers to stay as there are numerous opportunities for fishing available. Comfy and clean. The owner was nice and accommodating. Had a great time.

Owner's reply: Thank you Jenni! Glad you had a great time and PLEASE come back again. It is absolutely beautiful weather here in the spring and fall. And sometimes in the winter it can reach near 80 degrees. This is truly a hidden jewel on the Texas Coast!

Owner's reply: Jenny-- You were great guests and are welcome back anytime there is availability! See you later this summer, I hope!

“Magnolia Beach Cottage”

We had a great time while staying at the Gardenia Cottage owned by Joyce Pratt. She was great to work with. Cottage was very clean, well furnished, super air conditioning, and included Dish TV. Neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We visited the beach during mornings and evenings - and traveled to Port Lavaca, Port O'Connor, and Indianola during the day. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable experience! :-)

Owner's reply: Great visitor. Paid promptly and left the cottage in excellent condition! Please come back and stay again, Fred. :-)

“A great choice for us.”

A family home atmosphere. Lots of light, cool a/c, comfortable beds and best of all free of mold/insects. Short distance to beach. You will love the decor. 10 people can move around, cook, and eat comfortably in the great open kitchen, dining area.

Owner's reply: Thank you Linda! You are welcome back anytime!

“Awesome Stay”

Reviewed 30 May 2012

We had a great time. There was pretty much everything that we needed. Make sure you wear mosquito repellent, they can get mighty bad. Make friends with the locals, they rock. Cheers to Joyce and hope to rent this house out again soon.

Owner's reply: Kristin-- Looking forward to your return! Joyce

“As cozy as home”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2009

We had a wonderful time. The property was exactly as described and more than we could have hoped for. Attention to detail at the property was excellent. Everything you could think of was provided from dishes to towels to bed coverings to deck chairs, etc. Proximity to the beach was just a couple of blocks, so we could drive or walk. Just a great experience had by the whole family. Thanks so much Randy! Sincerely, Jim, Juanita and the kids.
