Description from manager

This 18th century villa is nestled in the colorful cliffs of Positano. The villa’s charming authentic features remain intact, such as a wood-fired oven used in the past for bread baking. The villa is airy and light and offers guests a panoramic terrace overlooking the town, the Tower of Fornillo, and sea. The location allows for access to town by foot (it is steep!) where there are many restaurants, shops, and cafés. Guests can slip into the slow-paced leisure of coastal life along the Mediterranean.

(200 m2/2,152 ft2)

(45 Steps) Entrance to the beautiful 18th century villa is accessed through a gate, via a narrow alley and staircase. At the entrance, below the terrace, there is a bas-relief of a Pistrice—a mythical sea creature. The outdoor space includes a sizable, secluded garden outfitted with flagstones—interlaced with grass—with plenty of outdoor seating. On the first floor there is a panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, with a vine-covered pergola and alfresco dining area. There is private parking space for two small/medium cars (no vans! The low height of the garage entrance makes access impossible for vans.)

(300 m2/3,229 ft2)

Ground Floor:

The villa is furnished with many vintage pieces and décor. Through the entrance you will find the authentic wood-fire oven—it can only be used by a professional pizza maker, but pizza parties can be arranged. From this area you have access to a study and storage area. There is also a comfortable living room and dining room that lead out to the garden area.

Mezzanine Floor: (10 Steps) In this area you will find the fully equipped kitchen—with rustic décor touches—which has direct access to the panoramic terrace and alfresco dining area. There is also a bedroom with a small double bed (120 cm, comfortable for one person, cozy for two) and an en-suite bathroom with shower.

Second Floor: (10 Steps) On this floor you will find additional bedrooms. There is a double bedroom (160cm queen-sized bed) and an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and shower. There are two additional double bedrooms (one bed can be separated to make two twin beds) which share a bathroom with a shower. The final double bedroom has a private bathroom with bathtub and separate shower (not en-suite). Each of these rooms has direct terrace access.

About the area

“Positano bites deep” John Steinbeck wrote, referring to the dream-like quality the town possesses. The charming pastel residences sit along narrow, winding roads on steep hillsides overlooking the Mediterranean. From the villa you are just a 10 minute walk from the center of town and 15 from the nearest beach. The beach Spiaggia Grande has been described as one of the most beautiful beaches along the coast but, for more peace and privacy, seek out Fornillo beach; accessed along a coastal path via Spiaggia Grande. If time permits, hire one of the town’s “sea taxis”; small boats which transport visitors to secluded bays only accessible by boat. Wander in to the many colorful boutiques or quaint cafés, and dine at one of the many restaurants.

Please Note: While the Amalfi Coast is beautiful and charming, it is also steep, with many uphill and downhill stairs and walkways. In general, it is an area that is not kind to those of us with knee or mobility issues. This should be considered before booking a property in this area.

Nearby Attractions: Visit nearby Sorrento, which is famous for its limoncello (an alcoholic aperitif) and inlaid wood – you can visit one of the workshops still in operation today to see this centuries-old craft in action. Visit Sorrento’s 10th century Basilica di San Antonio, which was built to honor the patron saint of navigators and still attracts sailors’ offerings to this day. The "Sorrento Summer of Music" is also held at the cloisters from July to September, and features international musicians performing alongside emerging talents. Amalfi is also nearby and dates back to the 6th century, with historical and medieval architecture throughout. The main sites include the Duomo, in Amalfi's center, the cathedral of Sant' Andrea, which dates back to the 11th century, and the Cloister of Paradise. There is also a museum dedicated to the works of Morelli and a museum where you can view artifacts of Amalfi's long and interesting history. During the summer months, there are daily ferries leaving from Positano to Capri, Sorrento, and Naples.

Naples Airport: 61 km/40 mi
Salerno Train Station: 43 km/26 mi
Pompeii: 36 km/22 mi
Ravello: 26 km/16 mi
Sorrento: 18 km/11 mi
Amalfi: 18 km/11 mi
Spiaggia Grande: 800 m/ 0.5 mi
Fornillo Beach: 500 m/ 0.31 mi
Bus Stop (Flavio Gioia): Walking Distance
Positano (Center): Walking Distance
