The Casa Sak Nah was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. My friend and I stayed for 2 weeks. Would love to have stayed longer. Everything you need for a vacation is in the house and up to Canadian standards. It is two short blocks to the beach. The location was 2 short blocks from local bus that takes u into Chicxulub, then further on to Progeso. However we walked many evenings to the centre of Chiculub to the bakery for our nightly treats and fresh bread. About 10 blocks. We never felt unsafe as 2 women walking on a Main Street. There is no big grocery shop but some mini supers and of course fruit/vegetable stores. Also a liquor store 4 blocks away. There was also many restaurants and little taco stands. Even a couple of private homes you could go into and they would sell you whatever they were cooking that evening. Taco stands and private places were inexpensive but restaurants were about $10 per plate. If you are not a big eater meals can be split. Always lots of food on plate. It is a very Yucatecan town. The weather while we were their was not great. Cloudy and a bit cool. everyone said that it is usually much warmer, like 30 Celsius. Our days were about 23 and windy. This meant not much beach sitting time. However the days we did go were great. Do not expect the Caribbean waters like Cancun. This is the Gulf of Mexico waters. On the sunny days the water was several shades of green. There was seaweed in water and on beach. To us this meant it was natural and not groomed. We only saw a bit of garbage left on beach. The beach is great for shell picking. Good beach for kids, as there is not a drop off. It took about 15 minutes to ride bus to Progreso. This town caters to cruises once or twice a week and you can expect all the usual stuff for sale. We did not really like it to much. We just felt Chicxulub was much more authentic and friendly. You do have to go to Progreso for banking and an ATM however so stock up on pesos. Most everything in Chicxulub was cash driven. You can get to Merida by local bus to Progreso and then combi to Merida. Takes about 1 hr. You will see the combis in Progreso, can't miss them. We would defiantly go back to Sak Nah ( which means "White House" in Mayan.) The owner,Jose, was very accommodating and friendly. You will not be disappointed if you want a true Mexican experience and beautiful accommodation.
“Perfect and beautiful peaceful retreat”
We stayed in Casa Sak-Nah with our dog Diva. We had an amazing time resting, enjoying quiet and peaceful walks to the beach. The house is nicer than in pictures. It is an Oasis in the peaceful town of Chicxulub. The owner made us feel at home and was always a text away for anything we needed. It is very close to supermarkets and only a 7 min drive from Progreso Port. Merida is oy 20 min away and Cenotes, Ruins and other tourist attractions are close by. We recommend this beautiful house with no reserve. Thank you José for making us feel at home!
“A Piece of Paradise”
Jose Trujillo was so much more than helpful; he was friendly, helpful, informative, good company and was a gracious host, time and again. He picked me upt at the bus drop-off in Merida and gave me a ride to the house in Chicxulub Puerto, all the while giving me very useful information about the house and the local. The house itself is so beautiful and comfortable. I walked into the front courtyard with a small, cool & refreshing pool and some plants and a shady patio. The options of upright or lounging chairs or a hammock created no end of comfortable options when not in the pool. The main room has a very useable kitchen, stocked with all the items needed for a home-away-from-home cooking space would require. The coffee maker and blender allowed for hot drinks and cold fruit smoothies on demand. The two bedrooms have comfortable beds and their own private bathrooms (very convenient). The windows and overhead fans create a fair bit of air movement alleviating the hot nights. Wifi service is great while I can't really comment on the television, which did work but I didn't use. I am already looking at my calendar for future return dates to this place.
I cancel my reservacition because I had a personal issue to take care of during the specific month I made the reservation. I missed the chance.
Owner's reply: Hola Maricarmen, siempre hay otra oportunidad, la casa estara siempre a tu dispocision, saludos y un abrazo.
