Casa del Sol!! This magnificent property is waiting just for you! Take a dip in the huge private infinity pool or just relax on the massive pool deck with your favorite beverage as you watch the cruise ships go by. The pool and deck are unsurpassed in Puerto Morelos. Lit at night by a revolving color wheel and three wall rainfalls, this infinity pool is breathtaking! You may decide to sunbathe on the roof top deck that has the best views in town.

The rooftop terrace has a covered deck area with a table and 6 chairs, along with a separate spacious deck for sunning or enjoying your morning coffee as you watch the sun rise over the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

You may wish to escape the sun and relax on the enormous covered patio off the living area and just admire the gorgeous infinity pool and stunning views. Can you see where the pool ends and the ocean begins?

The large iron table with six chairs on the patio is perfect for meal time or any social gathering. The colorful pool chairs add to the tropical ambience of this property.

The accordion-style glass doors open up the entire back side of the house to the pool deck area and patio.

There is a large stone propane grill next to the back patio - perfect for an evening bar-b-que.

A fully equipped kitchen has everything needed for cooking your favorite meals. Your biggest dilemma will be where to enjoy your many choices!

Two new, large side-by-side refrigerators with ice makers will keep all of your groceries and beverages cold. A dishwasher and a cold/hot water dispenser are included in the kitchen amenities. Ample cabinet space is an added plus.

Living area includes sofa with recliners, love seat, and reclining chair. Your group will love the large flat screen that gets all U.S. national network channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) as well as all of your favorites: HGTV, TBS, TNT, ESPN, WGN, CNBC, movie channels, and many more. Vacationing at Casa del Sol means no more missing your favorite college or pro sports teams! Sit back, or recline, in comfort and watch all of those big games that you worried you might miss while on vacation. On second thought, just relax at the pool or beach and let ESPN catch you up later!

All five bedrooms have king-sized beds with private bathrooms. There is a downstairs bedroom and four bedrooms on the second floor. Bathrooms are shower only. One of the bedrooms has a pullout couch and another has a set of bunk beds. We accommodate 10 adults or groups with children up to 12.

A tv area for the little ones is located at the top of the stairs. It includes lots of DVDs and a Kid Box. The Kid Box is packed full of puzzles, dry erase boards/markers, crayons, construction paper, scissors, games, etc. for kids of every age. There are also lots of books for children.

We furnish a stroller, pack-and-play, and a high chair, if needed.

Each room has its own air conditioning unit.

Pressing one button on the phone calls Roberto, the property manager. The other button calls the cab stand. No other outside calling is available.

Casa del Sol has an abundance of beach toys for the kids. For your pleasure, a two-man kayak complete with life jackets and four bicycles are also provided.

Your group will love the location of Casa del Sol. It is located directly to the north of Casita Blanca on the north side of town. The amble into town is about 12 minutes. This is truly a prime location.

The property is managed by Roberto, who also manages Casita Blanca. He and his wife, Selene, are always ready to help make your vacation experience an extraordinary one. Caretakers, Adrian and Reyna, cater to your every need. We've been fortunate to have been to the Mexican Caribbean many times and Puerto Morelos several times. Casa del Sol is by far the BEST accommodation we have ever had. The location on the beach relative to town (yet away from some of the noise of the beach bars), the great pool, (that the grandkids loved), and the house facilities (especially the kitchen !!) are perfect. The house staff were very helpful and prompt. The owner was a pleasure to deal with in making our arrangements.
We sat around one night (cocktails in hand) and tried to think of some way to improve it. We failed.
I can not recommend this strong enough.
Just don't try to book it the next time I want it.

Perfect vacation for 3 couples!
Absolutely beautiful home located right on the beach, it was perfect for the three couples. We had rental cars, so we ventured to Akumel and Isla Mujeres during our stay. Personally I could stay by the pool or on the beach the entire week. There was plenty to do in the little town square. Bikes are provided to take the short ride into town, which we did and tried a new restaurant each night. Habaneros is a favorite. If you scuba dive, there is a Padi shop just up the beach called Wet Set. I have used them to dive several times and never been disappointed. There is so much to do and see, that we never once turned on the TV. There is plenty of room in the kitchen for gatherings and coffee in the mornings. It is just so perfect it is hard to describe, so you must experience it for yourself!

"Best Family Vacation Ever"

That is how our family would describe Casa del Sol. We had the most wonderful week. Our 4 grown children live all over the country, so we were looking for a vacation where we could all be together. Casa del Sol has 5 bedrooms so it could accommodate all of us. The sun and moon rises were spectacular. The beach is like spun sugar and the ocean is the bluest I have ever seen. The infinity pool is large with waterfall and lights. Beautiful! The small private beach was perfect for the grand kids.
The house itself is great for a large family. It has everything you need and the staff is so helpful. Roberto is the care taker and can be reached any time of the day and Adrian and Reyna take excellent care of the house.
We had beautiful weather and swam, snorkeled, walked the beach, went to the interactive zoo and the Jungle Spa for massages. The people in Puerto Morelos are friendly and happy to have tourists. The town is a 10-15 minute walk and there are many restaurants with delicious food.
Our family can't wait to return!!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Great Beach House!

This place does NOT disappoint! It was everything our group of 8 friends (ages mid 20s to early 30s) could need. The house was beautiful, much larger than expected and very well kept. The pool was our favorite part as it was clean (the crew cleans it every day!) and large enough for a big group. Automatic waterfalls and lights that turn on during the day/night. Everyone was so helpful from the beginning- questions we had, booking it, transportation, and everything along the way. We did experience some rainy days while we were there, but the house had plenty to do and the book of information that was provided was helpful in finding some good activities (highly recommend the Jungle Spa - amazing!). Booking snorkeling was very simple and they pick you up on the beach in front of the house! Excursions are at an affordable price as well.

The beach is well maintained and you can walk either way down the beach to explore new parts of the town. The town is very safe and filled with amazing food. We loved the bikes that we could take into town as well! Friendly staff and locals everywhere we went. The grocery store was convenient for groceries throughout the week.

Do not hesitate to book this property! Meta and Jerry are so easy to work with and it will be worth every penny. Great for many ages, wonderful location and a beautiful, well maintained house! I can't wait until we can come back again sometime!

Most Relaxing Vacation Ever!!

We stayed at Casa del Sol in September and discovered a little piece of heaven! The house is even prettier than the pictures. There were 5 of us on a girls trip. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. The beds were very comfortable, as was the entire house. Meta and Jerry equipped the home with every amenity a renter would need for a great stay. Meta made the entire process from renting the home, recommendations on transportation (USA Transfers), restaurant recommendations, to returning the deposit, so easy. She even sent a friend down the beach to check on us! All the people we encountered in PM were kind and friendly. The staff at the house, Roberto, Adrian and Reyna, ensured our stay was hassle free. Someone in a prior review recommended having Nina cook early in the week, which we did, and we had great food left over for several days afterwards. In our search in town one afternoon for A/C, we discovered a jewelry store right off the square - ARTESANIAS AMBAR. The owners, Axel and his wife Rosalinda, were delightful. We purchased jewelry at a great price, and made some good friends along the way. I can't finish this review without mentioning the most amazing pool at the house. We spent everyday floating in the pool, which overlooked the beautiful ocean. We all agreed that this was the best, most relaxing vacation we have ever had. I love Casa del Sol (and Casa Margarita) and will be back again and again!

Outstanding Vacation

We recently spent a wonderful week at Casa del Sol and have already signed up again for next year. Over the years we have had many nice vacations but this is the first time we want to return to the same spot.
There were nine of us (five adults, 4 children) and we all enjoyed the beautiful house, pool, beach, town, and restaurants. The owners are very easy to work with and truly care about their renters.

Rather than repeating all the kinds words found in the other reviews (although we agree with them), I thought it would be useful to comment on some questions we initially had.

Car Rental. There is really no need to rent a car. You can get reasonable transportation from and to the Cancun airport (we used USA Transfers and were very satisfied) and cabs are inexpensive and reliable to go grocery shopping. The town and its many restaurants are an easy walk from the house. If you use USA Transfers (or something similar) be sure to bring the house address and directions.

Snorkeling. Right off the house the water is very clear once you get out about 20 feet. There is enough to see to not be bored. But, there is a GREAT snorkeling spot off the beach that is about a 10-minute walk. When you get to the house, ask Roberto (the property manager) and he will tell you where it is. Of course, taking a boat out to the reef is even better.

Diving. We did two days of diving during the week. We used Wet Set Diving and they were wonderful. They are a 10-minute walk from the house. We also did the Akumal swim with the turtles through them and it was a great trip. Swim with the turtles in the morning and then a swim in a cenote in the afternoon. The cenote swim was the highlight. We did not use wetsuits on this trip for the diving or the snorkeling and did not need them.

My Paradise Bar. About a three-minute walk down the beach is a wonderful bar – My Paradise Beach Club. There are other bars but this was by far the best – very friendly people, great food, and good prices.

Dinner at home. We had Nina cook us dinner one night and the food was wonderful. We all agreed that it was the best guacamole we ever had. If you do this, do it at the beginning of the week and you will have lots of food to snack on throughout your stay. We did it toward the end and had too much food left over.

A piece of Heaven

We rented Cas del Sol for a family vacation with our adult children and Grandchildren. It was a wonderful home. The house in person is even better than the pictures! We loved everything about it. The property manager was so helpful. The owner was also very wonderful to work with. We have already planned on going back.

Top Notch Experience!
I recently made my 3rd strip to del Sol and it was better than ever!

Here's why a week at Casa del Sol is simply the best! Puerto Morelos (PM) is so easy to get to and has the same great weather as Cancun and Playa. PM offers the Mexico experience without all of the tourist traps or tourists! Great restaurants, shops (fresh tortillas, bread, seafood), artists (art fair on the square is great) and people!

Del Sol is a fabulous setup providing top notch accommodations inside and out. You have private patios, pool, covered decks (great massage spot), sun deck (to get that late afternoon sun) and beach. The view is 24/7 (yes even at night ... you can watch the ships moving, enjoy the sound of the surf or simply do some star gazing).

The del Sol staff makes it easy. Between the house manager, transportation service and grocery shopping service all we needed to do is show up and enjoy our vacation.

Muy Bien!

What more can I say than the other reviews - or what I wrote last year? Casa del Sol will quite simply be the best vacation home you will stay in. The house and grounds are immaculate and the entire staff goes out of their way to ensure every need is met. Puerto Morelos is an awesome little town - it'll be hard to leave this beautiful house but be sure to get out and visit the locals. If you do only one thing be sure to see the band at Harbanero's.
This year we had Lisa pre-shop for us and I highly recommend that since it accelerates you in getting out to the beach as fast as possible. Kitchen is awesome - outdoor grill is perfect for the fresh seafood you can buy up on the square.
We also had Martina come to the house and she put her massage table up on the second floor deck - talk about a relaxing massage.
Book your time at this gem today!

Beautiful home in a fantastic town with amazing beach!

20 of us just spent a week renting Casa del Sol and the home next door - Casa Margarita.

Absolutely fantastic location. Great snorkeling from the beach and absolutely amazing snorkeling if you take one of the tour boats out from shore for around $25 per person, don't miss this! The beach is fantastic right out front of the house, but if you prefer pools this house also has a beautiful pool and deck area. Absolutely loved how you could fully open the doors from the kitchen and living room to the outside pool area, really outdoor living!

15 minute walk to town with many choices of restaurants. Kitchen was well equipped, we had breakfast and lunch at the houses every day and went out for dinner. Were thrilled to have 2 double fridges in the kitchen. The new big grocery store in town is a great bonus, less than a $3.00 cab ride to the highway where the store is located.

The houses are located on a quite side street, but we always felt safe walking back after dinner in the evening. You will find lots of people walking back down the middle of the street to their condos and homes. The homes also come with bikes for you to use, literally a 2 minute bike ride into town to pick up ice or whatever else you may run out of.

I cannot recommend this property enough, but if you are interested do book early, it sells out quickly. Meta is very easy to work with and very prompt at answering any questions you may have. I hope to be back one day soon.

Our family spent a week at Casa Del Sol. What a perfect piece of paradise. The house was more beautiful than we expected. Pictures do not do it justice. Everything was perfect. The staff was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. Roberto even made a special delivery of some appreciated. The rooms were large, spacious and beds comfy. The kitchen is huge. Lots of dishes, pots, pans etc.
Meta was a pleasure to deal with and answered any emails in very short order. This is a MUST stay place. Thanks Meta and Jerry for making our family Christmas get away so special. Oh Yes! We even had a beautifully decorated Christmas tree waiting for us when we arrived.

The Perfect Vacation

Our family of 12 ranging in age from 3 to 81 just spent a week in paradise - Casa del Sol in Puerto Morelos. We enjoyed the beach, the pool, the bicycles, the patio and balconies and all the amenities. The large kitchen meant that we could prepare our meals easily and kids could make snacks whenever they wanted to. The staff was most helpful - arranged a snorkeling trip and answered questions and looked after all our needs. The town is close enough to walk to on the beach or even quicker is to ride a bike. Taxis can take you further afield but we spent most of our time at the house. Pictures online are exactly how it looks - immaculate and beautiful with lots of homey touches.
Casa del Sol is probably the nicest place we've ever stayed in and we're already planning to go back.

Perfect Dream Vacation Casa del Sol Puerto Morelos Mexico
My wife and 4 friends sent 11 days at Casa del Sol. We have traveled to many places over the world and rented homes before in Mexico. Casa del Sol had to the greatest of all of the rentals we have experienced. The home was outstanding with a wonderful interior of 5 bedrooms, all with their own bath, a additional powder room. A large kitchen with a large counter that we 6 could enjoy our meals together. You had a view from 3 floors of the pool, beach and ocean. Roberto the property manager and his staff were outstanding. Taken quick action on any of our questions or needs. The villa is located a short walk to town.(10 minutes) Puerto Morelos is a small town with great restaurants, bars and very friendly town people. When you are at the villa make sure you have Nina make you a Mexican dinner and Lisa cook you a dinner that will rival any fine restaurant.
Meta & Jerry our hosts took great care of our arrangements and answers all the questions we had about Casa del Sol, the town and things to do.
We are planning on returning next year.
You will not be disappointed with your stay ay Casa del Sol!

Incredible home, breathtaking view, and wonderful experience!!

What can I say about Casa del Sol other than it far exceeded any expectations we ever had!! The house was UNBELIEVABLE--every amenity, every need was anticipated! The pool and the view were to die for--simply breathtaking!! Words cannot describe the beauty you behold when describing them- and pictures so not do them justice!
We consist of two families who have vacationed together every year for the past 12 years. I must say that Casa del Sol was BY FAR the most beautiful home we've been to yet! One can tell that Meta (the owner) prides herself on making sure that each renter has the best vacation experience. Roberto- the property manager, was always available to help in any way--which was very comforting to have while vacationing in a different country! Adrian and Reina- the grounds keeper and housekeeper, were also of tremendous help, as they were there to maintain the grounds and home. All three were just SO very nice and helpful--we never had a want or need for anything due to them! It truly felt like a relaxing and restful vacation!!
The quaint town of Puerto Morelos was absolutely wonderful--great shops, great restaurants, and great people! We loved walking into town every evening for dinner and we also enjoyed shopping and bartering in the little stores and talking with the town's locals. Everyone was so friendly!
If you would like a vacation that is second to none-- with every need met and every expectation surpassed, then I highly recommend Casa del Sol! We definitely would like to return someday--the sooner the better! Thank you Meta, Roberto, Adrian, and Reina for an AWESOME vacation experience!

Great Home, Great Management, Great Staff, Great Town, Great Beach, Great Pool, Great Week!

We have rented a lot of homes over the years (many in Hilton Head, South Carolina and the Gulf Shores area of Alabama) and always had good experiences, but last week was truly Great! Great home, Great Management, Great staff, Great Town, Great Beach, Great Pool and I could go on and on....

If we were arranging our trip again, we would have brought binoculars, one of the only things we left at home that would have been nice to have to watch the passing boats and water activity. Casa Del Sol had everything we needed, and we appreciated the cleanliness and organization and thoughtfulness that your family and Roberto and the staff have clearly put into the home.

Nice things we did not really expect but appreciated - great beach towels, real wine glasses, plenty of dishes and cookware for a crowd, American TV (we watched several football games and the World Series), house supplied trash bags, dishwasher detergent, bottled water, toilet paper and hand soap (we left a bit of all of these as we purchased before arrival these items except water). Chedraui, the new local big grocery store - lots of selection and so handy!!!

We had a beautiful meal on Sunday night prepared by Nina (Roberto's connection). She cooked a great chicken dish, with rice, beans, tortillas, salsa, salad, guacamole, and chicken taquitos - beautiful dinner we enjoyed and we had enough of all the side dishes for another meal with salsa and tortillas for the week! We loved purchasing fresh seafood in town and grilling (in foil) fish and lobster at home. We loved a nice dinner in town at John Gray's, also enjoyed Cantina Habanero, Los Gauchos and Las Palmeras. Eating in was fun, but eating out was great (no dishes, no cooking, and the taxi service is super-fast and very affordable at 25 pesos each way to town).

The kids loved the freedom of hopping on a bike and going for breakfast or lunch at Pelican's, the bread bakery, and the coffee shop on the town square. We all enjoyed the convenience of Unico for an easy beverage on the beach or a light snack. Most all of us used the massage tent on the beach and had good experiences. Our entire crew of 10 went deep sea fishing (no luck fishing, but a nice boat ride), snorkeled at the reef and also snorkeled the "obstacle course" on the route to town on the beach.

Puerto Morelos is a real treasure, perfect sleepy family town -- we felt so safe (we did lock up valuables in the safes at Casa Del Sol) and had such a nice relaxing

Perfect beach vacation-cannot wait to go back!

The newly renovated beach home is absolutely beautiful, especially with the new glass doors which open up the entire oceanfront side of the house. We had a wonderful trip during the week of Mexico Indepence Day. Our crew had a small rental car, so we ventured to Chitzen Itza (about a 2 hour trip from Puerto Morelos), to Cancun and to Playa del Carmen. Habeneros was our favorite local eatery and La Playaita just off the square had the best fish by far. Love Casa del Sol and Puerto Morelos and cannot wait to go back!

Absolute dream vacation!
My girlfriend and I came to Casa Del Sol with great expectations of a vacation to remember. As we arrived in the gated courtyard and walk to the entrance way of our rental, when the door came open it was beyond my wildest imagination. I felt like I was celebrity on TV in those homes that you can only imagine being in. The most gorgeous accommodation you could ever imagine.
We spent a week there and rode bicycles all over the little fishing village where people were so kind and hospitable. We dined at several local restaurants and had fresh fish from the ocean sautéed and cooked in the most perfect ways. Quaint Mexican restaurants served up some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten.
The home was equipped with thick beach towels, lovely linens every, bedroom has its own private bathroom. The housekeeper and groundsman came by every day to check to make sure everything was okay and even came back by in the evening to pull our chairs up from the beach. I have traveled and stayed in many beach houses and none of them could compare to this one. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have the most relaxing beautiful vacation!
Thank you for the opportunity it was unforgettable!!

EPIC Vacation ... EPIC, I say!!!

Everything about this house and the town was fabulous. The house is incredibly spacious. The view from the rooftop is awesome, the pool and beach are spectacular. The beds are crazy comfortable. Between the comfort of the beds, the breeze and the smell from the ocean, I slept like a rock every night. We left the A/C off and the door to the second floor back patio open every night.

I made great use of the bikes, going to the fresh fruit stand every day to stock up on fruit and vegetables, bought fresh tortillas from the tortilleria in town or any other supplies we might need.

We did almost no cooking on this vacation even though the kitchen and the grill outside are great. One thing I would do differently is ... cook even less than we did - like not at all! (Except maybe breakfast) This town has some great restaurants and it is affordable, so I would recommend eating dinner out every night. I found some great places to get takeout from as well for lunch, and as I stated already the local fruit stand is a great place to stock up for breakfast and snacks, etc.

While the house is very walk-able from the town center we learned quickly that it pays to just call for a cab. The phone at the house has a button to call for a cab ... you call and ask for a cab, and they are there 4 minutes later ... it is well worth the inexpensive fare, especially if you are travelling with kids or older family/friends. I made the walk several times, but ... 2 bucks for a carload is hard to argue with.

Some notes for those who might be wary of staying anywhere other than the big all-inclusives:

- This town provides a very good mix of friendly locals as well as folks in from parts north. If you enjoy getting some local flavor this is the place for you.
- We felt completely safe at all times. Everyone we met was fantastic
- If you have someone in your group that speaks a little spanish it helps, but you can get along just fine without any.
- You do not need a car. Cabs are readily available. From a finance perspective if you plan to leave town often to explore AND you feel comfortable driving in MX, then renting a car might be cheaper, but you can purchase excursions and/or take cabs just about anywhere you want to go

Stay here, you will never regret it.

We will be coming back to Puerto Morelos again I have no doubt. Now I just need to figure out a way to fill this house again because I don't think my wife will tolerate staying anywhere else!

Treat Yourself to a First Class Vacation Home Stay

This home is absolutely a AAA - 5 Star - #1 place to stay. We found everything in first class condition and plenty of all the supplies you could think of - dishes, cookware, utensils, towels, pillows, etc. The space of the living room and kitchen is wonderful and the bedrooms and bathrooms were all huge and spacious. The beds are extremely comfortable and plush that we want to change ours at home when we return to continue the "vacation feeling" longer. The sliding glass doors give you a beautiful view across the beautiful pool - beach - and ocean. The first breathtaking view from the front door is magnificent. This ranks as our #1 most restful and most beautiful vacation destination so far in our world travel.

Roberto is an excellent property manager and so very helpful and available with just a push of the "red phone button. He was there to great us upon arrival and helped unload the car with the groceries and luggage - then showed us around the home and how everything works.

Adriane and Reyna were also very sweet and helpful when we needed things - like a machette blade to open some fresh coconuts we bought - The flowers and pool area were kept immaculate every day for us to just relax and enjoy.

This was a great time of year to visit as the weather was breezy and not too humid - and it was not crowded yet with summer vacationers.

Meta - the owner - was also very professional to work with and answered emails and requests/inquiries promptly and with great information.

We are already planning to return next year at the same time if possible -

A truly restful and relaxing vacation and a first class trip for all of us

Try it and you will see for yourselves !

Great place in a great town.

Great home that has been completely remodeled. Beautiful beach right out front and a very short walk to town. The owner is awesome. She contacted me before we went to make sure we had a ride from the airport and made a great and inexpensive recommendation for a shuttle service that allowed online booking for both a ride to and from the airport. Then when one of the kids forgot his phone she arranged for the next guest to bring it back to the states and mail it back.

On site manager and staff are super helpful. Bikes are provided and we never felt we needed a car. We will be back.

FANTASTICO!! Best property I have ever stayed at!
If you think the pictures are nice, the real thing is even better! The views, sounds, smells, and comfort are exactly what I wanted (and received) when I stayed at the Casa del Sol. This house is luxurious, and has everything you need to relax and unwind. The owner, caretaker, maids and lawns crews took care of our every need from guiding us off the plane to making us a HUGE tasty dinner. We will definitely be back (with and without kids!)

Everyone in the winter States should be as lucky as us to have just spent 7 wonderfully warm days at del Sol! The extensive makeover makes del Sol better than ever. One couldn't ask for anything more for ameneties or living space.

With morning and afternoon walks on the beach, bike rides (yes, some for the first time in years) into town to pick up fresh tortillas and our own little pub crawl to check out easy to get to and great food options at the local restaurants.

Easy access to and from Cancun (just email Eduardo), a great house staff to take care of you (Roberto is the best) and the fabulous house and beach this is a keeper for our destinataion vacation list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is the house located?
A: Our two beachfront homes, Casa Margarita and Casa del Sol, are side-by-side in the quaint village of Puerto Morelos, approximately 20 minutes south of the Cancun airport. The homes are a 10-12 minute walk to the town square by road or by beach.
Q: Do I need to rent a car?
A: If you plan to spend the majority of your vacation in Puerto Morelos, you do not need a car. The houses are within walking distance of all restaurants and stores in town. The cab fare to/from town is about $2.00. There is a phone in the house that calls the cab stand directly. Day trips to Tulum, Playa, etc. can be arranged through a transportation service. If you plan to travel extensively while you are there, it would be a good idea to have your own vehicle.
Q: How do I get to the house from the airport?
A: If you are not renting a car, there are many transportation services that you can use. A lot of our guests use USA Transfers. We have gotten very good feedback on them – clean vans, great drivers, reliable and reasonable. Contact me for the link to reserve your transportation.
Q: What time is check-in and check-out?
A: Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 11am. There might be an occasion that these times are flexible, but most often we have to stick with these times. The houses are very busy and typically there is a group before you and a group after you. If you arrive a little early, we can find a spot to store your bags and you can head to town for a cold drink or snack. Roberto can then meet you back at the house at 3:00 for check-in. Upon departure, if your plane does not leave until later in the afternoon, we can store your bags as you depart the property at 11:00, and you can head into town for lunch or shopping. We try our hardest to have a smooth check-in/check-out, and we are grateful for everyone’s flexibility!
Q: Do the owners live on-site?
A: No, we live in Dallas, Texas, but we do have a great staff to take care of your every need. Upon arrival, Roberto, our property manager, will greet you and provide you information about the house. He will also help you put your personal code into the keyless entry lock. Roberto will check on you through your stay. If you need him at any time, the phone in the house has a button that you can press that calls his cell phone directly. Adrian, the caretaker, will clean the pool, take chairs to the beach, help unload groceries, etc. He can also help you with snorkel or fishing reservations. Reyna, Adrian’s wife, will do light cleaning twice a week while you are there and also takes care of the final cleaning.
Q: Does the house have wi-fi?
A: Yes, both homes have high speed wireless internet.
Q: Do you have baby gear?
A: We have a high chair, pack-n-play, and stroller for your use.
Q: How do we get groceries?
A: There are two grocery stores up on the highway, Chedraui and Super Aki. They are well stocked with everything you need. Chedraui has a great selection of wine, beer, and liquor. Have your transportation company stop on the way to the house or take a cab after you check-in for $2. Roberto will also pre-stock the house with food and beverage for a flat fee of $100. I will email him your list, and groceries will be there upon arrival. Don’t waste any beach time…let Roberto do the work!
Q: Will you accept shorter stays than a week?
A: Seven nights is usually our minimum. During low season, there might be a little flexibility – just ask!
Q: Do you allow smoking in the house?
A: No, there is NO smoking in our homes. The security deposit will not be refunded if there is evidence of smoking. If you smoke outside, we appreciate you properly disposing of your cigarette butts. There is no smoking on the pool loungers.
Q: May we bring a pet to your vacation home?
A: No, we love our furry friends, but no pets are permitted in either home or on the grounds.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: If you feel like there might be a possibility that you need to cancel, we highly recommend trip insurance. If you do an internet search, you will find many companies that offer trip insurance. During high season (December 1 through April 30), we will refund all money paid if we find another group to rent your time slot. Otherwise, there is no refund of any money paid. During mid and low seasons, a 90 day notice is required for cancellation. All money paid will be refunded if owners are notified prior to 90 days of arrival. Inside of 90 days, we will refund your total amount paid if we can secure another rental for your time slot.
Q: What are the other charges and fees besides the weekly rental rate?
A: There is a $500 security deposit, payable at least 90 days prior to arrival. This security deposit will be refunded in its entirety within 10 days of departure if all of the points on the rental agreement are adhered to during the stay. There are no other fees. If you wish to leave a gratuity for Adrian and Reyna, we know they would be very appreciative.
Q: Do you have someone that could cook for us?
A: There is a local lady named Nina that cooks for some of our guests. Upon arrival, get with Roberto about what day(s) you would like Nina and what you would like for her to fix. She charges on how many people she cooks for and how much food she cooks. She is very reasonable. She can also fix some pico de gallo and guacamole for you to have for a snack with chips through the week. Just talk to Roberto! Having Nina on a night or two might be fun, but don’t forget about the many great restaurants in town! There is also a sweet local couple who cooks for our guests. Sonia and Marco have a great menu and are open to other suggestions. Contact me for their email address and they will provide menu items and pricing.
Q: What restaurants in town do you recommend?
A: For such a small village, Puerto Morelos has great restaurants! All are very casual and reasonable. We haven’t found any we don’t like, so it’s hard to recommend just a few! Try as many as you can!
Q: What are the departure instructions?
A: Upon arrival, Roberto will give you a check-in information sheet and a departure checklist. We appreciate you taking care of those few things before you leave us so we can refund your security deposit in its entirety.
Q: How do I go about booking?
A: To secure your place in paradise, let us know you are ready to proceed with booking. A rental agreement will be emailed out to you. Look over it and see if you have any questions. We require 50% to secure the dates and the final 50% is due at least 90 days prior to arrival. If you are booking a year out, we are happy to offer the option of four payments spread throughout the year instead of two. We accept personal checks, a direct deposit to our Wells Fargo account, or payment through PayPal. If you would like to use a credit card, you may do so through PayPal. Since we accept credit cards only as a convenience to our guests, we do not pay the credit card fee that PayPal will charge. We will provide an address to which you can mail the agreement and initial payment. If you plan to use PayPal or Wells Fargo direct deposit, you can email the agreement back to us if that is more convenient. Please note that a reservation is NOT secured, and requested dates will remain available to others, until the rental agreement and deposit have been received by the owner.
Q: Do we need to bring beach towels?
A: No, we supply beach towels.
Q: What else do you supply?
A: We supply toilet paper, hand soap, dishwasher pods, and small bar soap. We do not supply trash bags, paper towels, laundry detergent or dishwashing liquid. Some guests leave salt, pepper and other spices. We cannot guarantee what will be available. The coffee pots do not require filters. We also have a five gallon water dispenser in the kitchen which will be refilled when empty. Hair dryers are also supplied.
Q: Can you tell me more about the layout of the houses?
A: Casa Margarita: one king downstairs, one tv room downstairs with full pullout, one oceanfront king upstairs, one king on south side of house that has a slider out to the oceanfront balcony, one queen with twin on the north side of the house that has a slider which connects to the balcony, but is not oceanfront, and one king, also with a queen, on west side of house with small balcony but is not oceanfront.

Casa del Sol: one downstairs king, two oceanfront upstairs kings, one with a pullout sofa bed, two kings on west side of house (not oceanfront), one with a set of bunk beds. TV room upstairs has two futons.
Q: What are some things to do in the area?
A: Puerto Morelos has the Little Mexican Cooking School, Crococun Zoo, and
The Jungle Spa, which are all big attractions in the area. Xel Ha, XCaret, and XPlore are parks within an hour’s drive. There are also many great cenotes within a 20 minute drive. 5th Ave. shopping in Playa is about 30 minutes away. Layla Guesthouse, in town, has some great seminars through the week – bird talks, Mayan culture, cenote history, etc. There are also several yoga sessions going on most days.
Q: What items do you suggest that I bring with me?
A: Besides your other toiletries, be sure to throw in some bug spray and sunscreen….These items tend to be more expensive in Mexico, so just bring them!
Q: What is the maximum occupancy of your home?
A: Casa Margarita: maximum of 10 adults or families with children up to a maximum of 13
Casa del Sol: maximum of 10 adults or families with children up to a maximum of 12
Maximum numbers are strictly enforced. You will be asked to vacate the premises if this policy is not followed. Security deposit will also be forfeited.
Q: Can we have day guests at the house?
A: No, there are no day guests allowed without prior approval of the owner. This policy is also strictly enforced. You will be asked to vacate the premises and security deposit will be forfeited if this policy is not followed.
Q: Are there safes in the house?
A: Yes, each bedroom in Margarita has a safe that holds passports, wallets, and money. There is a large safe downstairs that hold laptops, iPads, purses, etc. Casa del Sol has three bedrooms with a safe and the large safe that holds bigger items.
Q: Where do we change currency to pesos?
A: There is a money exchange booth on the town square where you can easily exchange money. It is recommended that guests not use the ATM machines outdoors. There have been reports at times of cards being compromised. Use the ATMs inside the OXXO convenience stores in town, the ATM at Chedraui, or use the money exchange booth in town.
Q: Do shops and restaurants take credit cards?
A: There are some places in town that take credit cards, but do not count on using cards everywhere. All of the grocery chains will accept most major credit cards. Please note that Chedraui has a $250 credit card limit. If you foresee your grocery bill exceeding $250, you may want to consider bringing an additional credit card or cash to make up the difference.
Q: Are you sure you answered all of my questions?
A: NO! So if you have any others, be sure to email us! We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have.
