“Historic ice house”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2017

Say" What do you mean how was your stay?" I called you immediately and reported the conditions of the cottage and said I wasn't staying .I was told by o ne of your representatives that they would send me an email with instructions to send pictures and they would look into it...I never received anything fo r trip advisor..I have contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute...now trip advisor needs to do their part... I was told by the gentleman that took my dispute that the would contact me in 10 minutes so I could send pictures but he didn't. I have pictures that I will forward to you via this same email as soon as I receive them from my friend's phone. She took pics while I was on the phone with trip advisor. But pictures can't show the smell of the cottage, the nastiness, it was disgusting. You couldn't even see out of the windows because they were so grimey!! I wouldn't stay there if it was free!!! And I expected better service from trip advisor, he made it sound like I was over exaggerating which I wasn't!!! We drive almost 7 hours to get there and then had to find a hotel that could accommodate the 4 of us at the last minute!!!! They had to move us in the 3rd night so our trip was VERY disappointing to say the least. I want reimbursed back to my credit card the money I paid for that place!!!! The hotel that finally took us wasn't free so we had to pay for that as well!!! This was a horrible experience !!!! And the hotel personnel said this wasn't the first time this had happened with people renting in Pullman. You should check it out yourself!!! Again, I will forward pics when received from the other woman in our group.

Our girls' group of 5 spent several nights at the Ice House and were making plans to return next year on the drive home. The cabin is clean, cozy and so comfortable. The view from floor to ceiling windows and sliding door is just breathtaking! Linens, kitchenware, and fresh towels and toiletries are provided as an added bonus. When additional towels were requested they were promptly delivered! There is a huge library of movies in case weather is inclement and a fire pit with wood provided and plenty of seating around the fire pit when weather is nice. The lake is full of fish with a paddle boat and row boat and poles provided for fishing. We caught enough pan fish for dinner and a bass large enough for share! South Haven and Saugatuck are minutes away and provide Lake Michigan Access, quaint and unique shops and many delicious dinner options. It was honestly one of the best girls weekends we have shared! Big Thanks to Roger and his wife for turning our stay into a forever memory! We will see you nerxt year! Sincerely, Lisa, Amy, Nome, Ashley and Jen.

“Peaceful Setting”

Charming, lakeside cabin with all the amenities of home. I particularly enjoyed the rustic decor, especially the stenciled sayings, and the beautiful photographs. The freshly cut flowers and home-made cookies were also very much appreciated. My daughter, who just turned 21 and was taking a mini break from Western Michigan, made full use of the canoe. The icehouse is a great place to unwind and get back to nature. A pilated woodpecker posed for us, as did a cheeky chipmunk and a family of swans. Fishing off the pier was entertaining even if we didn't catch anything. Gracious and accommodating hosts.

“Family Get-away”

First glance doesn't do this place justice. I was a little concerned by the run-down trailers in the area before we got to the house. The inside of the house was well decorated, very cozy. Good internet access, though only a few TV channels. Access to the lake was wonderful. The kids enjoyed fishing off of the dock and riding around the lake in the paddle boat. We played kickball, soccer, and Frisbee in the side yard. The indoor wood-burner is not well vented, the outdoor fire pit is a better option. Being only 15 minutes from South Haven, we spent a couple days there riding around town on rented bikes, visiting shops, and playing at the beach. This cottage was the best of both worlds for my family - close to the big lake (yet less expensive than staying there) and still have a small lake to fish, boat, and watch wildlife.

“Great Weekend at the Ice House”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2014

We had an awesome two days at the Ice House. The canoe and paddle boat provided for us were so much fun to take out on the lake. All the outdoor stuff looked a little well-worn, but definitely did the trick. We also really enjoyed the fire pit, although I wish I had known that there wasn't much firewood available, so I could have picked some up on the way in. We were a bit far from any real grocery store, but between the farm stand produce and more shelf-stable stuff at the local gas station/market we were able to put together some really nice meals. Overall, we had a great and comfortable time at the Ice House. We'd love to come back!
