Unreliable and uncomfortable

I stayed in a privately owned apartment, great located in Punta Cana Resort and Club. At least I though so. The hotel was said to provide the teanants with all the services that they provide for hotel guests, but the landlady "forgot" to tell me that the apartments is no longer attached in any way to the hotel activity. We had no acces to water and without a car it was not possible to get water outside the resort. We had to get half-liter bottles in the hotels snackshop for outrages prices. The apartment itself could have been nice, but it was extremly poor taken care of and was very unclean. A pillow was missing and there was piles of dishes stacked in the kitchenette. The walls had ketchup on it and the floor was coverd of hairs and crumbs. It was a nightmare to deal with the owner, Matilde Castellini, who kicked us out on the street when I emailed my concernes and complaines. She even accused me of trespassing, although I wanted to pay on arrival but the hired person who gave us the key did not have a recipt printed out and surggested to come back after the week-end. Clearly, this scenario is not unheard of when renting from a private person, but I was very unlucky. Keep it in mind to always ask for references of previous guests or at least, have a plan B if the landlord turns out to be mentaly unstable. I wasted alot of time and effort when dealing with the owner and spending time to clean the apartment, take a taxi to buy water and eventually even look for a new place
