Description of the Quechee vacation home rental
This is two attached structures sitting on 11 acres. The first is an old 100+ year old rustic barn + loft with views (and a deck to watch them on) that was so fantastic it was literally bought on the spot in 1994.

In 2005 we updated everything and added the second structure that includes a great room + new kitchen, master bedroom, master bath, screened in porch, office, large child bedroom, master bath, suana, and jacuzzi on the deck.

We have never had a guest that has not said "this place is incredible".

Area Information
The property sits on top of a hill that looks over a valley. Up the road 75 yards sits another house (our neighbors and our kids god parents). They have horses so it is lovely looking out that side of the house to see the horses grazing on the hill.

Our primary view looks over the Quechee valley. If you are lucky the balloons come up around 7am and 6pm during the summer and occasionally in the winter. We own our tree line so there is no structure in sight- only nature.

We are in Quechee which has the famous Simon Pearce retail glass mill and restaurant. There is also the Quechee Lakes club whose facilities (pool, tennis, golf, workout area, skiing, etc) are available on a per day basis.

7 miles up the road west is Woodstock, sometimes referred to as "Nantucket of the north" and 10 miles northeast is Hanover and home of Dartmouth College. If you like skiing and have kids Quechee Lakes, Dartmouth skiway, and Suicide Six in Woodstock are both good for kids. If you want to take it up a notch both Okimo and Killington are 45 minutes west.

If you like summer activities (my favorite time of year) there is a lovely lake and beach in town. The Quechee Inn will rent you canoes, kayaks, and bikes. There is good hiking all around the property as well as in Woodstock and Hanover. There are bike trails everywhere. In Woodstock there is a golf course, a national park, Mount Tom for hikes, and lots more. And I would be remiss if I did not mention the Woodstock Farmers Market which is a hybrid of a upscale Manhattan grocery store and a local organic farmers market.

Lastly, if dining out is of interest there are 3 award winning restaurants within 10 minutes drive; Simon Pearce, the Quechee Inn (where we met Julia Child's on her 85th birthday) and in Woodstock the Prince and The Pauper.
