Can't wait to return next summer!

November 23, 2015

From the moment we walked into the cottage until the time we left we felt so relaxed! This cottage is very well maintained and very clean! We felt right at home in the cottage and so did our dogs. We stayed the first week of August and the weather was great! The water was warm and very clear. We used the kayaks almost everyday and had a fire pit almost every night. It was also a very quiet area. The cottage itself is fully stock with all the necessities in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room. I liked having a washer and dryer on site, means less to pack. We got some really good lobster meat from Bob's Restaurant and we also had fried scallops and clam strips from there with homemade french fries with clam chowdah! It was so good, I highly recommend Bob's Restaurant. But just cooking on the grill every night and eating out on the porch with the sunset was very nice. Needless to say I can't not wait until next summer so we can rent the cottage again. You won't be disappointed.

Loon's Call Review

October 23, 2015

My first impression of the cabin when we walked in was that they had not charged us enough to stay at this fabulous place. The cabin was so beautiful and so clean. Everything about it was inviting and made us feel right at home. The two fireplaces were well maintained and well used during our stay. Evening times were so spectacular with a moon-lit view of the pond, sitting by the lit fireplace and reading or playing board games. During the day time the pond and weather cooperated enough that we were able to kayak most every day that we were there. Maine is truly a kayaker's paradise. The areas of Raymond and Windham had everything vacationers could want from great restaurants, hair salon, shopping, dog grooming, you name it--they had it. And the people we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Buck's naked BBQ, Dana's, Bomb Diggity, Bob's Seafood, Fisherman's Catch, were just a few of the great places to eat. Olympia Sports was very helpful in getting us in some warm attire for kayaking. Walmart was nearby as well as Hanneford for grocery shopping. The Welch's were fabulous, leaving instructions and being available via phone in the event we needed anything. And let's not forget the loons! And October is by far the best time to be in Maine during fall foilage peak season. It was the best Maine vacation we have ever had--having been vacationing in Maine for at least the past 10 years. Loon's Call was very impressive and certainly a place we hope to return.

Quiet & relaxing

Since we stayed off-season, the area was very quiet. The lake was frozen so we were disappointed we didn't see any loons, but we did see a bald eagle on the frozen lake on the first & second day (on the second day, it was perched in the tree above us outside). The cabin was well equipped for every need. Loved the skylights, being on the lake, the deck, the open area living space, the beds were quite comfortable & we had no problems using the internet (husband had to do some work...ok?). Owners even called after we arrived to make sure everything was ok. I don't think we would like it in season. Other homes are too close for our comfort - but as I mentioned, we stayed in April. :)

Loved our stay at Loon's call. The house was well kept, clean and the kitchen was stocked with the basics. We went to rest and relax and that is exactly what we did; we had our dogs with us, they swam almost every day, we fished and enjoyed the wonderful weather. The home is located in a quiet area, but not so isolated that you can't access civilization should you need to. Thank you for allowing us to bring our dogs and for being so accomodating. Until Next Season!

We had a lovely week at Loon's Call this past week. The lake was gorgeous and peaceful, house was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the kayaks, canoe and nice warm lake water. They wild life was a delight to listen and watch for. We saw the loons from a distance,a ?golden eagle and heron. I'd strongly recommend this wonderful home for a qiet and comfortable get away. The only negative experience we had was one 1 day when close by neighbors a few houses down and across the street were shooting guns in their back yard (?into the woods but hard to tell) on Friday while my kids and I were out walking -- very distressing. This only occurred one day and went on for less than an hour. Maybe we're suburbanites, but that doesn't sound like legal or safe activity in a residential area.

My husband and I just spent a lovely week at Loon's Call! The cottage is well equipped as described. For most of the week, there were just the two of us enjoying the tranquility of the lakeside setting, starting our days with kayak jaunts that included watching the (very tame) loons feeding their two young chicks and taking afternoon dips off the dock in the refreshing (but not cold) lake water. Over the Fourth of July weekend, our three children and friends joined us; there was ample room for all and we enjoyed the view from the deck while playing board games. We had great weather all week, but if there had been a rainy day we would have enjoyed a cozy fire; no need to bring a book - the cottage is well stocked with books and magazines. The lake was very quiet mid-week. The weekend was busier, and noisy at night with fireworks for three nights - a bit much for our nervous dog, but still better than leaving him at home! Thanks for a wonderful week.

Loon's call was great. We were even entertained by a pair of loons and their two newly hatched chicks. We chose this location because of its listing as being handicapped accessible. The access was ok but not perfect. getting down to and then out onto the dock needed a lot of assistance. The bathroom was only just doable for me. Any one with a slightly wider chair wouldn't have been able to get through the doors. While I appreciate the 'accessibility' listing, it would be great if some more details could be provided.
