Autumn in Germantown

October 10, 2012

Six old friends from various corners of the US reunited for a week of relaxed sight seeing in the Hudson River Valley. We agreed on the farm house in Germantown. The house accommodated three couples nicely, plenty of room to share and enough space to escape one another when necessary. The house was clean and comfortable, location perfect, a mere 10 minute drive to Hudson. The farmhouse kitchen has a large island where we could all sit for dining and conversation. The privacy the home offers and the vista from the back of the house are the best features. The view is spectacular, forget your cares and woes kind-a-view. From the comfort of the kitchen or back deck we saw flocks of wild turkeys, geese in flight and a herd of deer in the early evening. A view of the Catskill Mountains that would rival a picture postcard. For anyone looking for an escape I give this house an A+. The company of old friends didn't hurt either!

Wonderful house in a removed wooded setting!

June 1, 2012

Had a wonderful time! Beds were very comfy and ceiling fans and AC kept us cool when the temps rose. Ping Pong table in basement was a bonus. Had some very competitive games! Hot tub was a hit as well. Soft towels, adequate utensils and good BBQ. We had to change propane tanks on the BBQ the 1st night, but there was a refill in the garage. I recommend fireplace or other wooden matches as a back up to the lighter, which was a problem. The deck is great, although it and the wooden furniture is very weathered, and the table and chairs are reaching the end of their useful lives. Also, a flashlight or two around the house would be handy in case you need to go outside in the dark to find or fix something, or in case of a power outage. My wife loved the sky swing, and we saw some really cool moths, and a few spiders...I would rate our stay as 41/2 stars if we could!
