Description of the Ridgway vacation home rental
A beautiful log home with with unobstructed views of the San Juan mountains and partial view of the Cimarron mountains. The stars at night are unbelievable since the air is so clean. Some people say that along the escarpment is the prettiest view in Colorado and this why it is called Inspiration Point. Many weddings are held here because of the breathtaking setting.

Outside decks provide a great place to relax and enjoy the views and wildlife. 3 hiking trails are a block away. The house comfortably sleeps 8 people with king bed, queen bed, twin beds and a futon that makes into a double bed. DirecTV., local telephone, high speed WiFi, books, DVD's, exercise equipment, bicycles, hiking poles, etc. are for you to better enjoy our beautiful area. A cozy pellet stove is in the living room; electric heat throughout the home; and electric blankets on all of the beds; ceiling fans in the upstairs bedrooms & living room. Everything needed to make your stay enjoyable & memorable is furnished.

The kitchen has all of the dishes, utensils, pots and pans needed to make meals. A gas grill is just outside the kitchen door on the deck. Both Keurig and regular coffee makers; crock pots of all sizes; and more. The only appliance missing is a dish washer so you have to "rough it after meals". But not to worry, there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby when the urge hits.

We are in the middle of some of the best mountain Jeeping and hiking trails in the nation. We look at Mt. Sneffels, one of the 52 "fourteeners" in Colorado. A fourteener is a mountain that is over 14,000 feet.

Some of the best fly fishing in Colorado is close by; a beautiful golf course is less than 2 miles from the house; river rafting is available in two different rivers. Two different hot spring pools are less than a 30 minute drive.

Wildlife abounds...from gorgeous mule deer (see the pictures), to wild turkeys; bobcats; one bear last year; beautiful birds; elk in our area in the winter and at higher altitudes in the summer months.

Sunrises and sunsets over the mountains leave you breathless. Double rainbows across the valley are not uncommon.

The beauty of the San Juan mountains cannot be described sufficiently with words. Take a look at some of our photos to see some of the beauty of the seasons.

Whether you are looking to relax in a beautiful setting or an action filled world, you will be in the right place for either...or for both.

Area Information
We are in the middle of the San Juan mountain range and a short drive to the Cimarrons. John Wayne's movie, "True Grit", was filmed around the area. If you are familiar with the movie, you can still see some of the settings as you drive around on Last Dollar Road, Owl Creek Pass and the town of Ridgway itself.

We are less than a one hour drive to Telluride; and 30 minutes to Ouray, the Switzerland of America;

The Uncompaghre river runs from high on Red Mountain pass down thru Ouray, next to the Million Dollar highway, through Ridgway and into the Ridgway State Park reservoir.

There are several high mountain lakes for hiking and fishing. Ouray County is perhaps the best county in the U.S. for high mountain Jeeping. The best ice park, for ice climbers, is in Ouray.

Many good restaurants area around. Some of the best places to eat are to put your food in a back pack and take off down trails...from easy to difficult.

We can get carried away with describing the beauty of the area and all of the things to do. Just let us know what questions we can answer.
