Description from owner

Escape to the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the sounds of the Shenandoah River. Located just 75 minutes from the Capital Beltway, The Chalet is the perfect getaway for couples, families or a small group of friends (2-6 people). John Muir wrote "I am in the mountains and the mountains are in me." That is exactly how you will feel when you step onto the wrap around deck with one of the most spectacular views in the Valley. The Chalet is designed with the mountains in mind. From most of the living areas in the Chalet, including the main bedroom, you can take in a postcard view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Chalet offers two bedrooms upstairs, both with Queen beds, as well as a double futon downstairs, and two full baths. (one on each floor). The kitchen is fully equipped and is only a step away from either an 8' x 39' outdoor deck or your own spacious 10' x 20' screen porch. On the screen porch you will find a table and chairs for outdoor dining and a hammock where you can lie back, relax and listen to the s ounds of the Shenandoah River. For more relaxation step into a 4 person Jacuzzi hot tub under the stars and watch the full moon rise over the mountains. The interior of the cabin is accented with rustic knotty pine trim and abounds with natural light. Enjoy all the beauty and authenticity of a fireplace with the convenience of a gas log fire situated where you can view it from the dining and living areas. For those who would like to have a real fire or want that camping feeling there is an outdoor fire pit.

Our river access is only a 1/2 mile walk from the chalet. We are also within a half an hour of many popular attractions such as canoeing or tubing on the historic Shenandoah River, hiking in the Shenandoah National Park, horseback riding, or fly-fishing on a mountain stream. You can take a drive along the Skyline Drive, explore the depths of Luray Caverns, or just browse for antiques in downtown Luray. For children there is Jellystone Park with miniature golf and the Luray Reptile Center and Petting Zoo. Massanutten Ski Resort is only 45 minutes away.

The Chalet is a great base for year round activities in the mountains of Virginia. Come enjoy the privacy of your very own cabin in the woods.

“The River Bluff Chalet-The Perfect Escape”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2014

We LOVE the River Bluff Chalet! Every time we've gone, it's been an unforgettable experience. This is the perfect place to relax with your family and create unforgettable memories. My husband and I got engaged at The Chalet 10 years ago, and we've been back several times, and have loved every visit. Our last visit was with both of our parents and our two children, aged 2 and 4, and I can honestly say that The Chalet offers a little something for everyone. It's so relaxing, and there's enough space for everyone to fit comfortable. We really enjoyed going for walks down to the river, spending some quality family in the living room, and relaxing in the hot tub while enjoying the beautiful view. This is the perfect place for a family vacation or a romantic get-away. Thank you to Derek and Nina for being great hosts and always getting back to us quickly when we had questions. We'll definitely be back. The Ona Family.

This was the 1st time we've rented the Sundance. It was beautiful and clean on the inside and the view was amazing. You instantly felt at home. Our favorite part - the secluded deck with the hot tub. Every evening we made sure we were back to watch the sun set from the hot tub. We can't wait to rent the Sundance again.

We love these rentals, this was our second time down, second house. View from hot tub to mountains was awesome. House perfectly clean , only draw back was the small stove, hard to cook for 8 ppl on it, but we made due!!

“Nice and Relaxing”

The cabin was nice, clean....simplicity...but .wasnt too fond of the driveway....no turn around to maneuver ur vehicle. Would of liked a more accessible way to the Shenandoah river. But overall the stay was quite nice, secluded....and relaxing.

“Great place”

Very nice cabin, clean, comfortable for 6 people. Great for children!!!! Beautiful views, away from noise but close enough (10/15 min drive) to stores in Luray. Perfect if you plan to visit the caverns, or the Shenandoah Park. We stayed 3 days and it was easy to visit these places. Or you can just stay relaxing with the views.

“Absolutely Perfect”

We LOVED our weekend in the mountains at the chatlet! The inside of the chatlet was impeccably clean and just right! We enjoyed the fire pit and jaccuzi on the porch. You also get a view of the river which is just a short walk away. We definitely plan on returning soon!
