“Clean and comfortable”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2016

We have been back to stay at the Hermit Crab 5 times over the past few years. We love the light, bright, two-story home. There are plenty of beds for the whole family. It is clean and comfortable. We enjoy cooking in the well-stocked kitchen, and the firepit out back provides the perfect place for our traditional roasting of hot dogs and smores over the fire. The completely un-crowded and beautiful Nedonna beach is a level, easy 3-block walk from the house. The town of Rockaway Beach is just a 2-minute drive to the south, with plenty of cute shops to browse in, a variety of excellent restaurants, and a couple of small markets, which have an adequate selection of produce and groceries to completely satisfy our needs. We will be back to the Hermit Crab next year! One of our family's favorite weeks of the year.

This home is very clean, comfortable and in a great location--very quick walk to the beach and fishing pond. It was really nice to not have to pack basic condiments, bikes, and sand toys. The fire pit and benches are great. The owner is very communicative and responsive. We'll definitely stay at the Hermit Crab again!

“Amazing Beach Home!!!”

Reviewed 25 Feb 2015

My family and I went to the Hermit Crab for a 3-day weekend. What an amazing home! It provided all the comforts I was looking for plus some! The beds were very comfortable and the space immaculately clean! The backyard fire pit allowed the kids and us to make s'mores and enjoy camp fire stories well into the night while being right at home! The kitchen was very well stocked with supplies so cooking was easy. AND we were a few minutes walk from the beach which we spent most of the day at! This home provided everything I could have hoped for and more! I look forward to returning to the Hermit Crab again and again! It was very special! :-)))

“Everything provided. . .”

The kitchen provides everything imaginable. The bedrooms were private with comfortable beds. We liked that the beach was such a short walk away. The pride of the owners is evident at every point.

“We love it!”

My family and I have stayed here multiple times and love the location, the privacy, the quite neighborhood, and having the whole beach to ourselves. Gina is very easy to work with and answers any questions you might have. The only thing we wish was updated is the upstairs full/queen bed. Other than that, we have no complaints and will be back again when we can.

Owner's reply: Yes, the queen room is due for a new bed to equal the awesome comfort of the king bed downstairs. Expect the improvement during our winter updates. Thank you Melissa, for the feedback. Happy Summer!

Great place for a family. Provides many extras - games, toys, well stocked kitchen supplies. Easy walk to beautiful beach and fishing pond. Owner was great to deal with. Very comfortable, bright, clean home. We would love to stay again.

“We had a magical time!”

My family rented the Hermit Crab for a month and it was perfect for all 5 of us. Its fantastic location -- close to the beach and also a stocked trout pond (my son and 4-yr-old daughter were in heaven!), just north if downtown -- was great for us. The house has ample sleeping space, nice amenities (including a nice tv, direct tv and ipod dock/speaker, foosball table, games, etc),.deck with picnic table and nice charcoal grill, and beautiful setting surrounded by green.plants and trees, all if which made our stay the best it could have been. Some beach rentals smell musty, but not this one. It's immaculate, smells good, and the is stocked with top-of-the-line dishes, utensils, etc. The owner, Gina, was available and happy to provide everything we needed. It was hands-down the best vacation I've had in years. We will definitely be back to The Hermit Crab...thanks, Gina!

“Lots of Beds and Close to the Ocean”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2013

Had a great weekend with a group if friends, plenty of rooms to beds to sleep in and a big common area where we could hang out. Great big deck and just a few blocks from the ocean. Definitely recommend for groups looking for a place to share for a weekend getaway!

...we had a lovely weekend. The sunsets were spectacular due to the smoke from wildfires when we stayed. We took long walks, collected sand dollars, hung out in Cannon Beach and had a good dinner at Dooger's. My husband got a good laugh from the singing fish. It was a great way to spend some family time before my older daughter went back to college. Thanks for making your house available through the auction.
