Area Information
Best place on the coast if you love to stroll on the beach or like to fish, crab and clam! Rockaway Beach has seven miles of accessable beachfront between Nehalem Bay to the north and Tillamook Bay to the south.

Within Walking distance of Sea Haven it is only a:
- two minute walk to seven miles of Sandy Beach
- Half a block walk to Lake Lytle and the Lakeside Hideaway Restaurant
- two blocks south and you pass the pizza place and post office to the City park with a covered patio and new play equipment
-three blocks to Grumpy's affordable cafe
-another block to the Off Shore Grill Restaurant, two ice cream/candy parlors, and the start of the town's shopping center with craft, second hand and antique stores, grocery store, convenience store, several restaurants and taverns plus Flamingo Jim's, a T-shirt and novelty shop that is a destination favorite of many guests.

A short drive south leads you to Barview Park for a walk out on the Jetty that separates Tillamook Bay and the Ocean; Garibaldi and the old Coast Guard pier for crabbing and access to the clamming beds, plus Lumberman's Park for Steam Train rides (seasonal); Bay City to watch them shuck fresh oysters at Pacific Oyster; Tillamook for the Cheese Factory, Blue Heron Cheese, Three Capes Loop Scenic Drive, Munson Falls, Pioneer Museum and Tillamook Air Museum.

A short drive north passes by Nedonna Beach and it's accumulation of driftwood and the unique sculptures made by previous visitors: the town of Brighton for a visit to the Jetty Fishery or Kelly's Brighton Marina; Wheeler to rent Kayaks to explore the Nehalem Bay; Mohler to visit the Winery; Nehalem to visit the quaint shops.

There are several motorized boat launches in the area:

Tillamook Bay / Garibaldi Port Boat Launch, 5 miles south

Nehalem Bay / To the north, the Nehalem Bay County Boat Launch is located on U.S. Highway 101 between Nehalem and the junction of State Highway 53 in Nehalem. North of Nehalem, there is a boat launch in Nehalem Bay State Park.

In the town of Wheeler, there are boat launches for Nehalem Bay operated by Jetty Fishery and Kelly's Brighton Marina as well as another in the center of town.

Rockaway Beach is also blessed with a series of lakes that run north and south adjacent to U.S. Highway 101. These lakes are the remnants of what was the ancient channel of the Nehalem River, which at one time emptied into the Pacific Ocean at Garibaldi. When the river changed course and began emptying into Nehalem Bay, it left the lakes behind. For lake activities, there is a boat launch facility on Lake Lytle here in Rockaway Beach. The ramp is located off U.S. Highway 101 on 12th Street North.

Great Cabin for Family Get-Together

August 31, 2016

My family of 6 adults had a wonderful stay at this guest house. Reservations usually require a 4-night block, but the owner happened to have the single night we needed available in-between two other extended stays. The home had everything we needed & we especially enjoyed the common areas to socialize. Our favorite spot was the fire pit outside. Firewood was supplied and plenty of chairs to sit around the fire. The home was clean, beds comfortable, and a reasonable price for 6 adults. The owner was very helpful and I would highly recommend this option for large groups visiting the Rockaway Beach area.

Great house for the price!

July 23, 2016

We had a family reunion with 8 adults and 8 kids and really enjoyed our stay in the guest house. The house is a 2 minute or less walk to the beach. The rooms and common area were a bit small, but the space worked well for what we wanted: 5 beds in separate rooms for the adults and a bunk room for the kids. The price was very affordable compared to other houses that would sleep that many people. Maureen was awesome and so helpful. She took time to give us printed maps and show us where fun local sights were, even things you couldn't have found in the regular tourist books. She made sure to wash the towels during our stay and even did a couple of loads of laundry for us, which was so nice! We really enjoyed using the fire pit in the evening, and there still is quite a bit of privacy even though the house is located on the main road. We cooked most of our dinners so not having much kitchen and counter space and a small oven were our main drawbacks of the house. But all the other positives made staying there worth it! I would recommend it to others!

Maureen Taylor

Owner's reply:

Thank you, Erin, for taking the time to share your experience with others. Sounds like everyone had fun, and that is what a family vacation should be! -Maureen.

A group from work was heading up to the Oregon Coast for a two day trip. Sea Haven offered us a home away from home. The facility was a perfect fit and the staff was great. Just a quick walk from the beach and food, we couldn't have asked for anything better. Thank you for welcoming us and making our trip special.

Maureen Taylor

Owner's reply:

Kathy, your group was great and we hope to see you back next year. Thank you for taking the time to let others know about our property. It really helps!
