Description of the Rockport vacation home rental
Waterfront Home on Beautiful Long Beach on Cape Ann

Fully renovated for 2016, this light-filled, three-level beachfront home sits on the seawall above sandy Long Beach. We're at the Rockport end with no second-row cottages behind. Views of the ocean, beach and marsh greet you through large windows in every room.

The top floor has three bedrooms with sleeping for six (one king, one queen, two twin) and an over-sized full bath with granite-topped vanity and Bosch laundry. All bedrooms (and even the bathroom) have ocean views. A balcony overlooks the open first floor and, through walls of glass, commands a view of the entire beach.

The main floor, at seawall level, has an expansive living room with ample seating facing the beach. At the center of the house, the kitchen has soapstone counter-tops, down-draft stove, microwave, compactor, disposal, a super-quiet Bosch dishwasher, lots of gadgets and utensils, and views of both the beach and marsh. On back side of the house, with unobstructed views of the creek and marsh, are a sitting room and fully glassed-in conservatory dining area with seating for 8. A 3/4 euro-style bath off the sitting room completes the main floor. The sitting room converts to a sleeping alcove with twin sofa-bed and there is an additional twin sofa-bed in the main living area.

The walk-out lower level suite provides space for play or hanging out, and lots of additional sleeping areas, including a pull-out futon couch (full), and a loft with two full size aero-beds. Built-in cabinets, a refrigerator, microwave, third full bath, and its own entrance make this a great, private space.

The attached garage provides secure storage for bikes, kayaks, etc. and houses the on-demand water heater (never run out of hot water!), the central heat boiler(for the rare cool night) the central vacuum that services all three floors, and the irrigation system that keeps all the flowers looking great.

The exterior is ringed with large decks, patios and gardens, and equipped with a warm-water outdoor shower and a propane gas grill.

There is dedicated parking for up to four cars (a rarity on Long Beach) and, with no cottage behind, easy access to the creek where you can launch your kayak or boat.

Also included: Internet, Cable TV, all linens, Nintendo WII, assorted beach toys and games.
Area Information
paraphrased from the Rockport, Mass Travel Guide:

Escape to historic Rockport, Massachusetts. For over 160 years, people have traveled to Rockport for our miles of lovely beaches, boulder-strewn paths through woods and glades, and that uncommonly magical light that has inspired painters since Winslow Homer.

In an hour's pleasant drive north of Boston, you can enjoy a romantic getaway, exquisite dining and a unique shopping experiences, all in a single day.

The Rockport Chamber of Commerce has an online travel guide help you plan your break from the bustle of city life and invites you to this seaside village just 40 miles north of Boston.

Most visitors will like to spend a visit to "Bearskin Neck" at the shops and restaurants just off dock square in the Rockport downtown area.

If you can tear yourself away from the beach, you may also enjoy visiting historic Gloucester and Salem, taking a whale watch or fishing tour, kayaking in the harbor or in the Essex estuary, biking around cape and, hiking Dogtown Commons, exploring the Halibut Point Quarry...

Long Beach treasure

August 9, 2012

Our family of 6 was quite comfortable in this home with room to spare! The 3 full baths, outdoor shower & laundry more than accomodated our needs. The house is stocked quite well and we honestly didn't want for anything that wasn't provided. The beds are comfy, linens & towels abound, kitchen items plentiful in this well maintained property. The pristine beach cannot be topped! It is a treasure in New England & beyond. You wake to a view from the master bedroom that is remarkable. At low tide the stretch of beach makes way for games of frisbee & bocce. Long walks or runs or jogs are inevitable. High tide can be tricky as the water leaves little room betwen the shore & rocks but the house has a fabulous sitting area out front with lounge chairs for many. Sand chairs are at your disposable, as well. Great waves for boogie boarding! Throw a fishing line from the shore or cast off the rocks & there's a good chnce to catch a keepsr! The location is ideal for going off to Bearskin Neck or to historic downtown Gloucester yet quite honestly there's little need to leave the property! There is wi-fi and a Wii should there be a rainy day uring your stay. One tv which we found enjoyable as we gthered at night as family. The kitchen area is quite large should you chose to eat indoors although there is a back deck table by the grill overlooking a beautiful marsh. The sea breeze flows through the home & there are plenty of fans throughout. All in all a fabulous destination & choice of a vacation home. The owners daughter is responsive & easy to work with if needed!
