Location allows full views of the twin lighthouses of Rockport and the Cape Hedge Beach to the east, all of Long Beach and Bass Rocks to the west, a large salt marsh to the north, and open ocean to the south. Proximity to the tidal creek, marsh, and the rocky point of Cape Hedge provides numerous safe activities for kids.

About the area

Escape to historic Rockport and Gloucester, Massachusetts. For almost 400 years, people have traveled to Cape Ann for its maritime past and present, seafood resturants, great scenery, miles of lovely beaches, historic harbors, water sports, antique shops, art galleries, boulder-strewn paths through woods and glades, and that uncommonly magical light that has inspired painters since Winslow Homer.-- Both are an hour's pleasant drive north of Boston, so you can enjoy a romantic getaway, exquisite dining and a unique shopping experience-all in a single day.-- The Rockport and Gloucester Chamber of Commerces invite you to use their online travel guides to find the museums, festivals schedules, and other activities that will give you a break from the bustle of city life. Come visit these historic seaside harbors just 40 miles north of Boston.-- Most visitors will like to spend a visit to "Bearskin Neck" at the shops, art galleries, and restaurants just off dock square in the Rockport downtown area. Gloucester in contrast, with its deep maritime history, offers numerous ocean activities from deep-sea fishing and whale watching to dinner and sunset sailing cruises

“Home Away From Home”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2016

This is a home that provides all you need for a wonderful vacation seaside. It has a peaceful and serene quality to it by virtue of its location and decor. Bedrooms are spacious and modern and the living space is open and comfortable. Most necessary items are provided for cooking and daily use. It is a home we would return to over and over again.

Owner's reply: thanks much, we love the cottage too!

“Cape Ann vacation”

We rented this house for a family vacation and it was everything we wanted and more. It is a new house with a New England cottage feel. It is right on the ocean with awesome views and a big sandy beach to enjoy. It is conveniently located between Rockport and Gloucester both of which have very good restaurants. It is very convenient to catch the train to Boston from either of these towns. Overall a wonderful experience.

Owner's reply: Thanks, come back again next year.

“spacious and quiet”

We stayed at Long Beach house once a few years ago. We enjoyed it then but the screens had many little holes so insects got inside. Now the screens are nicely mended so we can enjoy evening dinners on the porch. There is enough room for all of us, including the downstairs sofa for those who need to re-locate during the night! We especially enjoy the backyard for the children when we get back from the beach. This year we held a birthday party out there, complete with piñata. Inside we appreciate the lay-out where children can play games in the dining room while adults chat on the porch and baseball fans can be inside watching t.v. The stove works well for our cooking. The kitchen has everything we need EXCEPT for a very rusty can-opener that desperately needs replacing. Our only other criticism is we wished for more than one recycling bin. Three or four would be better for our crowd of 10. Thanks, though, for an excellent week in a comfortable home.

Owner's reply: We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. We agree the location of the cottage right on the famous long sandy seashore of Long Beach along with the the ocean front rocks, popple beach, creek, and back salt marsh surrounding the other sides, makes for a great experience for all ages, especially kids. We will work on the can opener situation :)

“a beautiful place by the sea”

My family loved staying here. If you have little ones, it is ideal for climbing on rocks, catching crabs and boogie boarding. House is beautiful and being renovated. Would totally recommend this place.

Owner's reply: We love this spot too! Thanks
