Nearby Barnard Castle offers cobble streets, yards and back lanes, a 16th century bridge and castle ruins as well as a plethora of shops and bars. Further walking routes are right on the doorstep from here with the Lake District, the Pennine and Teesdale Ways, all within easy reach.
