Area Information
Matanzas Inlet is much more than a simple channel in Florida that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the south end of the Matanzas River. With rich Spanish and American histories, Matanzas Inlet is home to some of the most beautiful sites in Mother Nature, not to mention classical man-made architecture. That said, you'll discover that some of the most gorgeous homes and condos of the southeastern U.S. is situated along Matanzas Inlet's coastline.

Connected by a modern bridge on State Road A1A, Matanzas Inlet offers its residents privacy while maintaining convenience. It's only 14 miles south of St. Augustine and three mins north of Marineland, and 15 mins from down town st. Augustine which means residents are never too far away from larger city events or activities.

Matanzas Inlet is also home to Fort Matanzas. Fort Matanzas's origins go back as far as 1565 when the Spanish constructed a watchtower as a lookout for the protection of St. Augustine. In particular was their need to protect their "Castillo de San Marcos," a masonry star-shaped fort made of coquina stone in St. Augustine.

In the mid-1700's the English gained control of the fort and Florida. Then in 1923 Fort Matanzas was proclaimed a national monument and restoration of it began in the years that followed. Today Fort Matanzas is part of the U.S. National Park Service so its history, and the wildlife which resides there, is fully protected for years to come.

With a close-knit community, beautiful homes and a colorful history, Matanzas Inlet continues to be one of the hidden treasures along the Florida coastline.

So if you've been searching for luxury and convenience, a home away from home for your next vacation, ask us about this magnificent mansion in beautiful, secluded Matanzas Inlet today.

Prime location

September 19, 2013

20 of us stayed in the Vilano Mansion for my beach wedding. The location was perfect, right on the beach and only 5 minutes from downtown St. Augustine. The condition of the home was to be expected for a rental. Some of the furniture was worn down, a sliding door handle was broken off so the door could not be shut, one shower drain clogged and several burned out light bulbs but otherwise nice hardwood floors, counter tops and clean. The only disheartening thing was that we called maintenance 3 times in 5 hours to address these issues and they showed up 3 days later to only take care of two of the issues. I would definitely return however and none of these things kept us from enjoying our stay. When you have that many people coming in and out of a home, I would say normal wear and tear is expected. The Vacation Rental Pros staff were extremely helpful and gracious and I wouldn't hesitate to book another rental through their service.

Buyer Beware - House Not as Advertised

August 30, 2012

We were very disappointed in the condition of this house versus the beautiful condition depicted in the pictures. The furniture was largely different with severely water marked tables and plastic on the kitchen table chairs. The pretty red light fixture above the kitchen island was gone with holes left behind and a light fixture filled with bugs. The windows were so dirty and streaked with ocean mist that it was hard to even see out of them. The house in general was not very clean - dead bugs on the bathroom walls and the air return registers had a ton of dust built up. We killed six two-inch or more cockroaches during our stay. They sent a local lady to clean the house on Monday which did help but should have been done before we arrived. The lovely patio furniture shown in the master bedroom was not there, replaced by two broken plastic adirondack chairs. The pool is not oversized and was incredibly dirty when we arrived. After calling to complain, the pool was cleaned on Monday but without the missing pool cover, it was very dirty again by Thursday filled with sand. We called an additional four times and the pool was not cleaned until the day of our departure. The house itself has several rusted away joist hangers underneath it with numerous rust spots on the house. The view is certainly beautiful and the beach private. The condition of the house though was just not worth the price tag of over $4,000 for the week. After complaining to the rental agent, the owner agreed to reduce the price by $ 1,400. I was ok with that remedy until after I left when suddenly I had left the house in too "damaged" of a condition and was threatened with a lawyer. Interestingly enough, though, we had left the house in the condition that the material in the house outlined and we verified with the local agent. After 45 days, I have still not heard from any "lawyer" or received my promised refund. In ten years of renting beach houses, I have never had as disappointing experience as this one. I would not recommend this to anybody.

WOW! The best of BOTH WORLDS! The wrap around porch allows you to watch the sunrises over the Atlantic and sunsets over the Intracoastal - the home is beautifully decorated and the kitchen is definitely suited for large numbers - with the double ovens, HUGE refrigerator/freezer, double dishwashers and dining room tables for 20. You don't find those amenities in many rental homes. The beach is steps away - is dog friendly and basically deserted, so you feel you are literally on your own little piece of paradise. Conveniently located with only a short drive to St. Augustine, the outlets, Vilano Beach and so many wonderful restaurants. Marineland is located 2 minutes down the road for those who would like to go. And a perfect dock to fish off in the Inlet when the tide is high, or, if you enjoy catching mullet, grab your net and walk around the Inlet with the other fishermen we enjoyed watching every day. We definitely would return and rent this beautiful home! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to enjoy paradise for a few days! Roberta Mand

Very nice home with all the amenties needed. Had the beautiful beach almost all to ourselves. Quite secluded and quite. Watched locals search for clams and even enjoyed a few of the clams for dinner one night.

Don't do it!!

December 6, 2009

We stayed at this home going completely by the property description as most people do. The location is beautiful but the home is not. It is not new. Most of the listed amenities are broken or filthy. Staff was not helpful. We were there for days without TV. Insects were a problem.. And absolutely no refund was given because we chose to leave early when nothing got fixed and I wouldn't sign a paper not to make public statements. I Go to Florida every year and have never been so misled or robbed. I hope they had a nice vacation with my money...

Review of Ocean/Riverfront Home

November 25, 2008

Loved our recent stay in St. Augustine. Could not ask for better views - Sunsets were incredible and the weather stayed between the low 70's and 80's our entire week. Highlight of the stay was seeing the Space Shuttle lift off. Words can not describe how we all felt at that time. Pool even though solar heated, was a little chilly to swim in and we were disappointed that there was not a hot tub on the property as stated in description. Would highly recomend this home/rental to all! P.S. Boat rental is a must-Florida Rentals can take care of boat rental for you.
