St. George Island has something for everyone. The island is 27 miles long and approximately 8 blocks wide. We have funky beach shops, great restaurants, a little pizza place and bicycle/golf cart rentals. (Please let me know in advance if you want to rent our golf cart.) It's electric and tons of fun.
We also show off our St. George Island State Park and the famous, restored St. George Island Lighthouse. The Lighthouse Assn. recently added an authentic Lighthouse Keeper's House/Gift Shop next door.
There are 2 small local grocery stores and a small gas station.
Just across the bridge is Eastpoint, Florida. Then a over a 6 mile bridge and you'll be right into the middle of Historic downtown Apalachicola, Florida.
The one and only traffic light in Franklin County is in Apalachicola.
This historic fishing village also has wonderful 1800's era homes, an old graveyard with 2 civil war veterans, huge old brick warehouses and large avenues where cotton was sold right from the docks. For many a visit to the old churches is fun. The Gorrie Museum is open 7 days a week if you'd like to see and learn about the very first ice machine. It was invented by Dr. Gorrie.
Some of the best seafood in Florida is served right here on the Forgotten Coast. Some say we have the best oysters in the world, right from the Apalachicola Bay (available in town or on the island).
Driving back to the island you will cross 2, 6-mile bridges back to St. George Island. Pelicans love to fly next to your car and the water views from both bridges is simply amazing.
Once on the island you can stroll on the beach, drive the golf cart around, maybe listen to some local music at one of the local beach bars, take a long stroll on the beach or just sit on the deck at the house and enjoy it all from there. Hopefully someone will cook freshly caught seafood on
the outdoor grill.

Reviews for this vacation home rental in Saint George Island, Florida
August 5, 2013
My family and I had a wonderful time! The house is adorable and just a short way to the beach. I was nice staying somewhat inland. The home had beautiful a landscape and a lovely interior. My children enjoyed it as well. The home owners were kind enough to put up a child's swing for my youngest. The home was well equipped. I recommend staying here! We hopefully will be renting this home again in the coming years!
