If you are a golfer, the St. James Bay Golf Course is only about 20 minutes away. It is a world class golf course and the areas only Audubon Signature Sanctuary.
Wildlife and marinelife are plentiful. We are also one of Florida's great fishing areas. Whether its fresh water, bay and flats fishing, or off-shore, a day on the water is usually a successful day. Guests can catch a variety of species of fish including redfish, speckled trout, flounder, spanish mackeral and so much more right out in front of the house. However, if you would like a guide to take you out, there are numerous great captains in Carrabelle and Apalachicola. There are also boats and sailboats available to rent if you want to have your own journey. We have several docks on the New River in Carrabelle that can also be used for your convenience and pleasure. The New River is very beautiful and quiet and makes a great place to relax and enjoy the wildlife.
Our home is just outside of the town of Eastpoint. The Eastpoint waterfront is filled with small seafood houses. Lots of oyster boats and shrimp boats line the waterfront. The seafood markets offer fresh shrimp, fish (grouper, snapper, flounder, mullet), oysters, scallops, blue crab, and more.
Places of interest: Oyster Capital of the World, Eastpoint; Layayette Park, Apalachicola; Chapman Botanical Gardens, Apalachicola; Orman House built in 1838, Apalachicola National Estuary Research Reserve; St. Vincent National Park Museum; John Gorrie Museum; St. George Island State Park; St. George Island Lighthouse/Cape St. George Light; World's Smallest Police Station, Carrabelle; Crooked River Lighthouse, Carrabelle; Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum; Walt G. Kendrick Dwarf Cypress Boardwalk, and much much more.
The park ranger will take your family for about an hour trip ($8 currently for adults) up this beautiful crystal clear river to see lots of gators, turtles, birds, fish, and beautiful vegetation. (The Old Florida) AND some of the manatees have been staying there year round recently. After your trip, go for a swim in this beautiful spring. (I believe the largest in Florida) If in July or August, bring you snorkel gear for scallop season. You may have luck snorkeling right there.

Reviews for this vacation home rental in Saint George Island, Florida
June 22, 2015
The home is perfect for a family. The screened pool is a very big plus. The house is well maintained. Located between Carabelle and Eastpoint there isn't alot of "touristy" things around - which was perfect for us. The beach is more for playing in tide pools - we went to the public beach up the road for all day beach trips. It is a very nice beach and wasn't crowded. I would suggest a pop up shade canopy. Many great restaurants are a short drive away. The landlord is very nice and checked in to make sure everything was fine (many do not check in). If you would like a laid back, get in touch with your family vacation this is the place. We would recommend. Thank you for a lovely vacation.
Thank you Susan,
That was very sweet of you. You guys were a pleasure to have with us. If you can get back anytime soon, please let me know and I'll either get a great price for you or show you some of our other houses and see if either of them interest you.
Thanks again Susan!!
Hope to see you soon,

My family and I had a great vacation on the forgotten coast when we stayed here. St George island was just right down the road. The house was perfect for our family and dog. We loved it.
