it is worth the effort. We stayed eight nights and had a great time. Susan, the hostess, really has a little piece of heaven there. The ocean is so close that it took a night to get used to the sound of the waves crashing against the beach and the rocky cliff. The meals were simple but delicious. The room was spacious and comfortable. Also there 24 hour hot water available, something that is not always found in the inns of Ecuador. There are tours available too. We took the tour up the coast to Montanita, a really cool town filled with surfers and families out to enjoy the beach. There's a couple of malls in the Salinas/Libertad area that have just about anything you'd want. We enjoyed visiting the fish and produce markets. The seafood available is fresh from the sea. You can see the lights of the fishermen's boats out on the ocean every night. Susan is a wonderful hostess and made sure we had a vacation that would give us great memories for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you rent rooms, or a house, or your property?
A: We are a guest lodging -- We rent individual rooms, or the entire guest house, and sometimes the neitre property. We event rent out for special events like beach weddings and parties and quinces.
Q: What are my amenities when I rent from the Ocean Hideaway?
A: You will receive use of: our pool, wifi code, guest salon and half bath, guest fridge and access to the beach are all available to you as a paying guest Breakfast is provided in the price of your lodging and served on the veranda of the guest house.
Q: What about inviting my friends to join me here? The pool is great and you have a really great beach and sweet surf spot!
A: For the safety, security, and fairness of all of our guests, all visitors must be checked in and out. Depending on the season and the number of guests you wish to invite to join you, their may be an additional charge for the use of the property and amenities. This covers wear and tear and upkeep. We need to consider the comfort of all our guests first, and hope you understand. All visitors must depart by 10pm unless prior arrangements have been made with the Manager.
Q: What about laundry service, extra meals or meals delivered, and other stuff?
A: We can do that!
Laundry and Additional Meal service (including delivery from local Anconcito restuarants) is available. Please ask!

Kitchen privileges, Laundry area privileges and Parillada/Grill area privileges are available by separate arrangement. Please ask!

In fact -- if you can think of anything that would make you more comfortable -- Please...ask! We will try to make you as comfortable as possible when you stay with us and that way, you will tell other folks to come visit us too!
Q: Can I bring my dogs and cats to visit?
A: Not at this time, sorry. We love animals -- and in fact have two big dogs (Gina and Max, both are rescues) and a ginger cat (named Tomas who lives in the manager's house) on the property. We do not accept pets because we cannot secure their safety this close to the ocean and against any of the other animals that naturally roam in the countryside. If you are traveling with your pet companion we can give you a list of locations in Salinas that (as of this writing) do accept pets as guests.
