Sept, 2010: I don't know where to begin with your gorgeous home/property Puertazul. First, it was the perfect kind of comfort we needed Toyita made sure everything was ready and everything from cut flowers to setting the fire was perfect. Such a unique and beautiful place so beautifully landscaped and situated right on the river. We actually spent most of our time on the property with a few hikes up the hills or in to town, but the peace and quiet of the property was just what we were looking for for our retreat. I could go on and on. Everything was perfect and in most cases, beyond expectations.
April, 2006: Beautiful fall days here - what a paradise! Enjoyed wonderful horseback rides, hiked to San Francisco glacier. Thank you for creating such a comfortable and pleasing environment. J&R, Santa Cruz, California, USA
July, 2006: What a beautiful villa! Even in winter the flowers bloom. Thanks to Nancy, Toyita and Amaranta for all the help. Be sure to get a massage and ski at Lagunillas G&D
Dec, 2006: Our favorite things were hiking the beautiful mountains, eating delicious food and the lovely people. Don't miss the lunch at Santa Rita Winery or dinner at Le Petite France. The hot
tub is a pleasure. Home cooked dinners from Nancy and her fresh baked bread in the morning are so wonderful. Such a lovely home, with everything we needed and more!
And what comfortable beds. Gracias

Jan, 2007: I'm nor sure what refugio means in Chilean Spanish. But Puertazul for us is a Refuge... A retreat into a wecoming luxuriant garden, comfortable home, the now accustomed sound of rushing water, time to read, dine, reflect, doze...
We love the fresh morning air, lazy warm afternoons, evening paseos, flowers, We have used every dish, pot, linen and tool in the kitchen. We baked, barbecued, sauted, and sauced....And then there is smiling, incomparable Toyita, Nancy's
"best in the world" empanadas and her delicious honey - perfect with the chilled Montes Sauvignon Blanc, the hot tub and the stars. N&R, J&J, M&A, Portand, Oregon,, USA
Jan, 2007: Puertazul! What a great place to stay. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the
pool, hot tub, views, sounds of the river and wonderful gardens.
Nancy is a great cook and very accommodating. Lemon pie - sweet! Quiche de Verduras delivered fresh, hot & early for breakfast. Also, the empanadas were scrumptious as well. We made our way to Banos Colinas and soaked in the salt water hot springs. What a treat, luxuriating whilst taking in the splendor
of the Andes. Chile - a fabulous place. H&S, BC, Canada

Jan., 2008: We had a great time! Rafting through Cascadas was fun - just right in terms of challenge. Horseback riding thru Amaranta was the hightlight! The views and the hacienda for lunch.
And the villas - so beautiful, relaxing - and loved all the outdoor spaces. J&E - Wilmette, SC
I'd highly recommend this property as a base for a trip, to those who want something more than just a week in the sun at some "compound" (americanized resort). Here , you get the best of everything; sun ,clear air, comfortable temps at night for sleeping, spectacular scenery; and an almost limitless choice of activities including , hiking in the mountains, white water rafting, tours to world class wineries, day -tours for sight- seeing, and horse riding. A huge vote of confidence as well to all the people associated with this property (on site). Amaranta and Ignacio were pivotal to our experience in Chile; facilitating various expeditions and giving advice and translating as required. A big highlight for several of our group was the day Ignacio accompanied us on a horse riding trek into the Andes hosted by his friend Hernan.............an experience we'll never forget! The property itself was in a fantastic location; terrific mountain views and just below the Maipo river; which provided another great experience the day we went white-water rafting. The grounds were carefully designed with an array of fruit and nut trees as well as rose gardens , beds with annuals and perennials and many fine herbs and shrubs...........all meticulously attended by Toyita , who also kept the accommodations spotless! What a great place to come home to , after a day's excursion!..........it felt like our own, and we could relax in the hot tub with a glass of wine before preparing our diner in Judy's well appointed kitchens! I must also note that this property is conveniently located just an hour and a half from Santiago ; and that the owner (Judy) was very helpful, friendly and easy to deal with in arranging booking. In conclusion, it would be hard for me to imagine that there could be anyone who wouldn't like this property , it's location and all the wonderful people and options that are included.

We spent the last two weeks of 2010 at Villa Puertazul and had a wonderful time. The two casitas are charming, well appointed and comfortable. As it was summer, we spent most of our time outside - eating on the patio, lounging by the pool, admiring the stunning views of the mountains on all sides. The views change with the light throughout the day and it never gets old. While fairly remote, it is a quick shot to wine country and the bustle of Santiago. However, we spent several days ensconced in the beautiful gardens, relaxing completely. The caretaker is a tireless worker who does light housekeeping (makes the beds, cleans the bathrooms, etc) and maintains the gardens. A neighbor is available as much as you wish to cook and cater - fresh pan amasado every morning!! We invited friends up for a barbecue and all of our guests were amazed at this oasis in the mountains. If you are planning a trip to Chile, this is an incredible way to experience small-town, rural Chile - and be amazed by the grandeur of the Andes. Not to be missed!
