About the area

This incredible contemporary cottage in the city is bordered on all sides by San Diego's most famous neighborhoods. A five-minute walk to the west takes visitors to the beautiful Little Italy area of downtown San Diego. Here you can stroll through coffee shops, boutiques, bars and some of the most unique specialty shops and restaurants San Diego has to offer. Have dinner and a cocktail at el Camino, or pick up hand made pasta and imported olives from Assenti's and bring them back to the cottage's fully stocked kitchen to have an italian dinner at home in the garden. Walk three blocks in the opposite direction to reach Balboa Park, the Old Globe Theatre, art museums and the famous Prado restaurant. To the south, it is just minutes to the Convention Center, Gaslamp District, and Petco Park. To the north, visitors can get lost in the architecture along Banker's Hill and in Hillcrest's daytime boutiques and buzzing nightlife. Stroll to the nearby waterfront, visit Sea World, San Diego Marina District, Seaport Village, Horton Plaza, Symphony Hall, the embarcadero, and of course, the famous San Diego Zoo. These are all accessible by bus, car, trolley, or on foot.

Went with 3 girlfriends for a weekend of fun. The cottage is ideally located and walking distance to everything (trust me you'll spend longer trying to find a place to park!). The A/C was great (was a heat wave while we were there), all appliances are new, and the outdoor table and garden were fantastic. We had one small plumbing problem while there and someone was sent to fix it immediately. Marie was amazing to work with and very helpful and responsive. She even let us check in early since the unit was ready. The property is clean and quiet (we never saw the other renters). My nephew will be attending UCSD so I will be referring the cottage to my family, and plan many return visits myself. Can't wait to share this gem with them!

My family and I (5 total) had a great stay! The location was great: We walked to Little Italy and Balboa Park - no problem. The area was fine - it's the city, but we certainly didn't feel insecure at all. The cottage itself appears like it went through a major renovation - everything is new, modern, well-organized, and every little space is being utilized to its fullest. Even though the cottage is fairly small, we didn't feel squished at all. We enjoyed using the back patio area for grilling, and the kids really liked the loft. In the end, we were all looking for that one word to best describe the place, and we all agreed that "cute" fit it perfectly. Marie was wonderful to work with - very responsive. She even refunded our security deposit the very day after we left. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Cottage W/Loft Nestled between Little Italy/Downtown

My girlfriend and I visited San Diego at the end of February, and we could not have been happier with our choice of accommodations. The cottage was an absolute delight, leaving you wanting for nothing. It's clear that every detail had been considered when it had been renovated, and it was in spotless condition, incredibly cozy and well appointed with everything you could need during your stay. The pictures shown on the site are very accurate - it really is as charming as it looks. The stairs to the loft are quite steep, and do have to be climbed like a ladder, so I wouldn't recommend allowing small children, or someone with mobility issues, to use the loft area, but care has been taken to make renters aware of this, so we had no problem with that at all. The owner, Marie, was very attentive to any questions we had, and one very minor concern was responded to immediately. Marie had also supplied a Welcome Package containing information that listed some wonderful restaurants, pubs and deli's in the vicinity, which was very helpful and informative. The location was also perfect, being within easy walking distance to Little Italy, Downtown, and the Gaslamp District. Even if one was too shopped out to do anymore walking, the cost of a cab ride back to the cottage was minimal - as it was to the airport too. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone, and should we make a return trip to San Diego, I would not even consider looking at any other accommodations. This was perfect in my books!

We stayed at two places by Urbana for a work trip and ourselves and our clients were so pleased. It was impeccable and felt like our own little home. Not to mention it was a great, easy check in and check out process from beginning to end. We would definitely stay there again.

Myself, my (almost) 3 yr old daughter and husband all stayed at this cottage for a week while in town to visit friends, family and see the sights. I could not have asked for a better place to stay! It was clean, easy to keep up (I'm a neat freak) and the well stocked kitchen allowed me to cook breakfast and prepare a few dinners when we were too exhausted to go out. The main bed was very comfortable (did not try the loft bed), plenty of linens and towels. I loved having the windows open and the breeze coming through. The loft area was very kid safe and provided my daughter will her own little area for quiet time. Having access to laundry on the premises (and having a toddler) made our vacation much more enjoyable. From start to finish, Marie was in contact with me which helped make me feel more comfortable with this process. We travel extensively and now that the little one is getting older, hotels are just not working out for us. I much prefer having our own space, kitchen, etc. The location was a dream as we made trips to Coronado, La Jolla Shores, the wild animal park out in Escondido, the Zoo, etc. We were all over San Diego and this property, being right by the major expressways, made it simple to navigate and get around. Walking to Little Italy at night for dinner was easy and there were many different types of restaurants to try. I priced out hotels and rentals before booking this cottage and weighed in groceries vs always dining out, the ability to spread out (ever stayed in one room with a napping toddler?), the privacy and location. This won out in every category. I am so glad we chose to rent here and we'll be renting this again for our next trip to town.
