Vintage Rooms to Go

October 6, 2014

Okay, before reading further, we just did not like this place. Having said that, lets be subjective, if you can stay in a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in Carmel by the Sea or at a nice lodge in Sonora for less money, then you come here, you think okay, what am I paying for? Now, lets look at the specific things that just didn't hit home. The locks are totally inadequate. If you charge this kind of money, spend extra for the safety of your patrons. Both the street level lock and the room lock were flimsy at best and offered little to thwart anyone from breaking in. The beds are advertised as individually adjusted sleep number something something. They worked like a hospital bed but the dial a comfort thing didn't work at all. They may just need batteries in the remote control, I don't know. On a positive note, the kitchen was very modern and somewhat well stocked. It just needed a good cleaning and it would have been a very nice kitchen. It is advertised as having a dishwasher, if it does, we couldn't find it. At best, this whole place just has a spartan feel. Yes, there is some funky ambiance here and there but I think what gets me the most, it just doesn't have the feel that the pictures portray. At best, what we spent for 4 nights is about what I would think this place would rent for per month. The other thing, we had to put up a $550.00 deposit. I can't imagine other that one TV, what could be here that is worth anything close to that amount. This is the last comment; if you bring your family here, and you think this is an economical alternative, think about this. 1- No washer and dryer and the nearest laundry that I could find was 2 miles away and in an area I didn't feel comfortable in much less send my wife. 2- No dishwasher, the kitchen was somewhat nice however a good cleaning would have certainly helped. No one on vacation preparing their own meals wants to leave home and then have to wash the dishes. 3- This place was just not as clean as what you would find in a hotel and was typically just run down. 4- The entrance was deplorable. It is just plain seedy looking and the two flights up a dark narrow winding stairway is just daunting to say the least. 5- One small bathroom? Really??? Sorry for the negative review and I really struggled to post this in view of the manager is a nice guy. HH

Great place to stay!!

September 3, 2013

This place was great! We really enjoyed the apt. and location. Our four legged kids loved the fact that the beach is just a short walk away and played on the beach for hours. The apartment was very clean and confortable. We hope to stay there again in the near future.

Worst experience ever

June 27, 2013

My family travel from la to San Francisco, we arrive at the property 11:00 pm and we were looking for the keys to enter the property but coulden't find it, then we try to contact the owner. After 1 hour trying to contact him, the owner finally got back to us and tell me that he make a mistake about my booking and we can not stay in his property that night, and he suggest me to find a motel around the area. My whole family have to drive around to find a place to stay at 1:30 am in the morning and We signed the contract with the owner, they owner only give me the money he charged me back without considering how much trouble he has caused by his fault. We have to pay a lot extra to cover our stay in San Francisco as we haven't book our hotel in advance.

First Time's a Charm

August 2, 2011

This was my first time ever using airbnb so I was very skeptical. Me and six of my friends stayed in David's home and our skepticism was gone the minute we walked in. Everything was very true to the pictures and David did everything he could to make our stay very comfortable. Also, I had many, many questions before I reserved the property and David was very gracious in responding to me and addressing my concerns. For anyone thinking about renting this home, don't think twice! Pay the same as a hotel room and get a full home....what else can you ask for?

Check the comparables

September 26, 2010

The rental company handled all aspects of the transaction excellently. Five stars there, and six if I could give them. The house itself was in a lovely location, but a tiny bit weary and in need of some attention. The air conditioning was quite feeble, and not turned on when we arrived to a 90+ degree house. Not a terrible thing, but it would have been easy enough for the cleaning company to cool the place before our arrival after a 5+ hour car trip. I'd rent the house again (location is great), but this time, I'd probably check "comparables" more thoroughly.

Cozy abode...

September 13, 2010

Although the owner lives above, this felt pretty private. The backyard was a nice spot for the dog as it is rare to have much grass in S.F.Diane was kind to accomodate us with our late arrival. The only drawback was that the bedroom carpet was damp as it had just been cleaned. We truly lucked out with some beautiful beach weather.Although a bit removed from the city scene, there were several good restaraunts in the area.Great proximity to the beach, Golden Gate Park and the zoo.We would return here.

Great place to stay

August 18, 2010

My family of 5 stayed here while I was in a conference in San Francisco. While parking was a little challenging, we always found something within a block or so. The place was very comfortable, and we had everything we needed. Loved that the beach was so close, and even on a Sunday was not busy. Very relaxing. Jacob was easy to reach via phone and made sure we had a nice stay. Would highly recommend this for your next get-away.

Great Place to Stay Bad Management

July 31, 2010

We had a great time in San Fran and the condo was a great place to stay. It was very clean and has great access to downtown. The down fall is Jacob (the rental agent/owner) and Brian (the down stairs neighbor). Brian will come and harass you and tell you that Jacob is renting illegaly. You also will have to fight Jacob for your security deposit. It took from May until July before the credit card company finally got it refunded. Jacob promised many times to credit the deposit but never would. We left the place in perfect order and followed his list for checkout. This was confirmed by Jacob by an email I saved. He plays a poor me attitude (I have a sick mom and my partner has been in the hospital which put me in financial trouble yada yada yada) which is not very honorable to me. So if you don't mind either being harassed or fighting for your deposit, the place is a great place to stay.

Thank you so much!

Found this place at the last-minute for a girls weekend. There were 6 of us staying. The place was exactly as described, very clean, and the beds were SO comfortable, plus there were lots of linens. Jacob was great, and helped us get all the details sorted out quickly. Transit was extremely easy to manage, and there was a good grocery store on Sloat so we were able to pick up a few things to take care of breakfasts at home and then head downtown for the rest of the day which made for a much more affordable and fun weekend than having all of us in separate hotel rooms. I highly recommend this place. This was my first time renting a vacation home anywhere, and I'd happily do it again.

Christmas vacation on the beach

January 13, 2010

We really enjoyed our time in this rental, although it was a tight fit for 4 adults and 2 children with one bathroom for 10 days! Jacob is very easy to work with and generally diligent about getting things to the renter. The only downside to the property was noise. The apartment is surrounded (two sides and above) by other dwellings, and we heard every word our neighbors were saying and a lot of stomping around from overhead. During the day there was also a lot of noise from the street, especially with the windows open. Other than that it is a great place, in a terrific location within easy walking distance of the beach, zoo, and Muni, and less than 10 minutes from Golden Gate Park. We enjoyed being able to get movies on demand and the extensive DVD collection, and if you have small kids they'll like the books and toys. We did realize how dependent we are on our microwave (this property has none), so be ready to cook the old-fashioned way. If I'm ever vacationing in San Francisco again I'll definitely consider this property - just not with 6 people!

Great Stay

January 6, 2010

As a group of 7 (in our late 20s), we arrived on Dec 31st to ring in the new year in San Francisco. We had a pleasant stay. Jacob was very helpful prior to our trip. He called me after my initial inquiry about the property and gave us some tips. The location is pretty easy to get to because we are very close to a main bus that would take us downtown. It's about a 30 min bus ride and probably takes 15 mins to drive. Also, it was very easy to get around. We liked how there were DVDs for us to watch as well in the evening. This is a great family vacation home especially with the Academy of Science museum not too far away. Golden gate park is also within walking distant and same with the beach. The only thing we noticed was that there was no microwave (but we used the oven to heat up food). Thanks Jacob for being so accomodating and pleasant. One day, when we have kids of our own, we may come back :)

Great Family Vacation Rental - Reasonably Priced
San Francisco Vacation Cuero, Texas
Review Submitted: August 10, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our family vacation this year was very nice in San Francisco. Finding this rental property made it even better. The property is located in a residential area that is 6 blocks from the water and one block from the local Wal Greens. You can even view a portion of the Pacific Ocean from the kitchen window. The house is nice and roomy. There were seven of us that stayed at the property. The beds in both bedrooms are very comfortable. We used the pull out sofa and Jacob was kind enough to offer us 2 fold out futons to make our stay even more comfortable. The property offers more than enough linens to use. The kitchen is well equipped with nice dishes, "Wolfgang Puck" pots, glasses, utensils and even a dishwasher. The "Big Screen TV" was a plus and there is a great selection of DVD's to view, although we didn't have time to watch any. The bathroom is roomy and had more than enough plush towels to use during our stay. Jacob is very courteous and helpful. I checked with other rental properties in the area some of them you had to rent during a certain time that included the weekends. Thank you Jacob for calling me after I inquired about your property. I would stay here again and definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to the San Francisco area. Thanks again Jacob.
Sincerely, Pam

I'm from Canada and have stayed in this property for 8 days with 5 of my friends.

First, Jacob, is very friendly and easy to work with. We had looked for a few properties before but many didn't bother to respond or provided prompt responses. Jacob provided to a level of service that my friends and I were more than satisfied. Deposit was refunded immediately when we were done our trip.

The location of the property is in the north east of San Francisco. A slight bit away from the downtown location but transportation via Muni Bus is frequent. We never had to wait more than 5 mins for transportation.

Don't let the pictures fool you, the place was quite big. Especially the living room and master bedroom.

The leather couch was very comfortable and a huge TV!!
All the basic kitchen necessities were there. There were lots of items such as kids games, DVDs... etc that we had access to (even though we didn't need all these items). And thanks for the fruits, Jacob.

We had a friend over the day before 4th of July and she was also impressed with the size and overall amenities. I would recommend this property to my friends if they ever decide to come to San Fran.

If there was one thing that I didn't like about this place, it would be that the shower had see-through glass doors. That means I couldn't go to the washroom when my friend is taking a shower without seeing him or her naked. lol. But I think that can be fixed with a shower curtain.

The neighborhood is quiet as stated.

If you need more information of our personal opinions, i'll gladly give it. Jacob can provide you with my email address

Thanks, Jacob! If we stop by San Fran again, you'll be the choice of accommodation.
