Description of the Santa Pola vacation home rental
Do you want to get away from it all? Spend uninterrupted time alone, or with the people you love? You will find nowhere better than this fisherman's cottage with startling views on an island untouched by the 20th and 21st centuries, only 15 minutes off Spain's bustling Mediterranean coast.
The island of Tabarca, a tiny (just over a mile long) island just minutes from the well connected Alicante airport, boasts a tiny walled city of golden stone built in the 1700s. Half of the island is a protected wild area, perfect for long strolls, and the other half is the old city, where no cars circulate and even ATMs are absent. The sparkling, warm turquoise waters surrounding the island are a protected marine reserve and are the best in Spain for snorkeling and swimming.
The house has stunning views of the Spanish coast and the wide Mediterranean beyond, from its balcony and solarium. It faces on the old wall and a small, nearly private park. During the day, you can join the crowds of sunbathers who take boats from Alicante to Tabarca for a day on the beach, seek out the two secluded beaches just seconds from the front door, or explore the quiet coasts on the wild side of the island. At night when the tourists have gone home, walk the spectacular beaches on your own and enjoy excellent cuisine in the quiet of the town, and sleep to the sounds of the waves and the seagulls.
If you need shops and crowds, there are boats to Alicante and Santa Pola every few minutes all day long, and we can help you to organize shopping and cultural tours. But your best bet is just to relax at home...for an unforgettable vacation.

Area Information
Tabarca Island, a short boat ride form the mass tourist destinations of Alicante, Santa Pola and Benidorm, somehow escaped developers and gives a sense of having been forgotten by the 20th and 21st centuries. The island has three streets of homes, shops and restaurants plus an impressive church, built at the same time as the city walls. On the wild side, the only buildings are an old fortress, a crumbling guard house and a cemetery. Cormorants and seagulls abound and the waters are rich with fish, since they are off limits to commercial fishermen.
