About the area

Beach: Seagrove Beach is part of the 30-A beaches of South Walton county, world-famous for its pristine white sand and turquoise-emerald water. Families and “snow birds” (people from up North) return every year to enjoy the beauty. There are several companies that rent chairs, umbrellas, cabanas, and build beach bonfires. Timpoochee Trail: a 19 mile paved bike/pedestrian path running alongside Highway 30-A, is one block from Beach Blessings. It goes east past the charming villages of WaterSound, Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach. Going west, it passes through the much-lauded village of Seaside, as well as Watercolor, and Grayton Beach. Several local bike rental shops will drop off bikes at “Beach Blessings” for your convenience. Fishing: Options abound! Catching is good in the surf as well as at Eastern Lake (two miles away) and at Choctawhatchee Bay. An Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing school and shallow water fishing expedition are located 2 1/2 miles away. Charted deep sea fishing can also be arranged leaving from Grayton Beach or from the marinas in Panama City or Destin. The pier at Pier Park, which extends 1500 feet into the Gulf, has bait and daily fishing license for sale and fishing tackle is available for rent. Dining: There is a myriad of convenient dining options which vary from casual to fine dining. You can easily walk to Angelina’s pizzeria across Highway 30-A or to the much-touted Cafe 30A, a fine-dining establishment that has been awarded Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. If you prefer to eat in, groceries can be purchased at the nearby Publix supermarket, which is two miles away, and fresh Gulf seafood is within walking distance at Goatfeather’s Seafood Market. Golf: There are eight championship golf courses in the region including Camp Creek (6 miles away) and Shark’s tooth. Water sports & activities: Nearby shops rent stand-up paddle boards and kayaks as well as sell snorkels, masks, wake boards, floats, beach chairs and toys, etc. A surf and skim camp for kids is offered at two beach locations throughout the summer and at other times by arrangement. Hiking, mountain biking and exercise : Trails are close by at Cassine Gardens, Point Washington, and Grayton Beach State Park. As well, there are charming wooded trails at Watercolor. A local studio offers yoga and other exercise classes daily. Eco Tours: several are offered in the area. These include YOLO, kayak, hiking, biking, and sailing on Western lake, the Gulf or the Choctawhatchee Bay. Shopping: In each neighboring village along 30-A there are many varied shops and boutiques with delightful wares. For example, in Rosemary Beach, the Sugar Shak is a must-stop for children, while Pish Posh Patchouli’s offers custom scents that are divine. In Seaside, Sun Dog Books pleases both children and adults with its large selection. On rainy days people often flock to the Silver Sands Outlet Mall in Destin, 18 miles away or to Pier Park, a mega outdoor shopping complex in Panama City Beach, 16 miles away. It contains over one million square feet of retailers and restaurants. Spas: The Inn at WaterColor (2.2 miles away) offers spa services. Movies: Sandestin (15 miles away) has a Carmike 10 and Pier Park (16 miles away) has a Grand Theater. Plays and Concerts: the amphitheater in Seaside (2 miles away) hosts weekly events throughout the summer. The schedule is available online and on the bulletin board near Dawson’s Yogurt. Water Park and Amusement Park: Shipwreck Island and Pier Park Amusements are close by in Panama City Beach. Transportation: There are two convenient airports with multiple carriers including American, Delta, United, and Southwest that offer daily flights. Northwest Florida International Airport (ECP) is 26 miles to the northeast of Seagrove and Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS) is 40 miles away in Ft. Walton Beach. Both have rental car agencies.

Getting around

Because the locale is so lovely, many people choose to walk or ride bikes between the villages. Otherwise, you will need a car as there is no subway, train or bus.

Getting here

Beach Blessings is in Seagrove Beach, Florida. It is directly off 30-A in the panhandle of Florida between Panama City and Destin. It is 2 miles from the much-acclaimed town of Seaside. It is convenient to access by interstate, or the Northwest Florida Intl. Airport (ECP) is only 26 miles away. Although there are several restaurants and seafood markets within walking distance, you would want a car to cruise along 30-A and visit the other delightful villages. There is a wonderful paved bicycle/pedestrian path next to 30-A. It stretches 20+ miles, connecting the villages, so bringing or renting bikes is a must for us! Read more about it below.

Interaction with guest

At Beach Blessings there is a binder with all the information about the house that you would want to know. There is also a binder with info. about local restaurants, and activities. I am also available at night or on the weekend to answer any questions or give recommendations on some of our favorite things to do when we are in paradise. :)

“Simple but nice”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2016

Great location close to great dining and other shops. Awesome view from the high bluffs of Seagrove. Roomy. Could use better patio furniture. Take your own beach chairs and set them out early as those from other condos, etc will set up in your space. Older Seagrove home but well maintained. Stayed in this house several times.

Owner's reply: Hope to be able to purchase new patio furniture soon. However, the gazebo with swing and bench overlooking the beach are just steps away from the patio.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

My family purchased this beach house when I was in middle school. We would come down from Birmingham, Alabama for Spring Break and for at least one week in the summer every year. The other weeks in the summer we would rent out the house, and often the same families would rent it year after year. Back then, there were no neighboring villages or any nightlife unless you drove to Panama City Beach or to Destin. It was rather remote and quiet- a perfect place to enjoy the beauty of nature. As the area has grown, we have enjoyed the amenities, but still cherish how the cottage allows us to escape from the busyness of life. My parents are now older, and they have asked me to take over renting out our cottage, but they are still involved in communicating with guests. We hope you love our little piece of old Florida as much as we do, and that it allows you to truly relax.
