If you want a true Adirondack experience you need to stay at our "CAMP" called The Dykeman's Estate. The reason we call it a Camp: A camp in Adirondack parlance, is anything from a tent to a palace erected in the woods. Guides built camps of bark and trees. Millionaires called their structures "Great Camps" as did their architects. So we don't own houses or vacation homes in the Adirondacks. We own CAMPS.
It's quaint and comfortable and has been enjoyed for the past 46 years by 5 generations of the Dykeman family. The camp was originally built in the early 1900's (approx.1902-1904). This was the time period of the Great Camps of the Adirondack's. Sekon Lodge as it was renamed in the 1950's - (the property of which our camp is a part of), consisted of several camps, some originals, such as ours, still exist. They date back to this early 1900 time period and hold the type of charm, history and memories that can't be replicated in a hotel type rental property.
Our camp is located on Upper Saranac Lake known as the "Lake of the Silver Sky: It contains two bedrooms, but can comfortably sleep up to 6 adults. The master bedroom has a queen sized brass bed and small personal sink, second room has two twin size beds. The camp also has a two days beds, one with a pullout. (Matteress are new and linens provided). Fully equipped kitchen which includes all your cooking and serving needs. The bathroom has a marble sink, shower and authentic claw foot tub for soothing relaxation. The dining room and living room are both carpeted. The living room has a wood burning stove, wood provided. Cable T.V., phone and Internet provided. Sliding glass doors in the living room lead onto the fully screen-in porch with the lake side view. This is a wonderful spot for a quiet cup of morning coffee or a fun evening of conversation or table games with friends and family. There is also plenty of room to store your boating, swimming or fishing equipment as just a few feet from the camp, is our dock. Children will enjoy the small fish that can be caught right off the dock or swimming in the area. We also have a row boat that is provided for your use. Boat motor and a canoe are available for a fee. If you have your own boat, there is plenty of room to dock it. And just a few minutes away, there is the private launch and sand beach area of Sekon Lodge which also has a picnic area and fire circle for evening marshmallow roasts. Bring your guitar and strike up a round of songs and make new friends.....

Reviews for this vacation home rental in Saranac Lake, New York

We were fortunate to find the Dykeman Camp after our beloved Wawbeek Resort closed. It is a happy alternative: beautifully situated on Upper Saranac, with a dock, rowboat, and canoe; screen porch with lovely view; rustic but comfortable living quarters with good kitchen and cozy living room. We first stayed here in 2008 and a Dykeman visit has become our new annual tradition.
