Description from owner
Just north of the Rosemary District in downtown Sarasota in an eclectic robust neighborhood one block east of Tamiami Trail [US 41] on Cocoanut Avenue lies The Cocoanut Cottage, a lovely 2BR/2BA city home which sleeps six. Here you'll find an old style bungalow cottage with lap siding, rafter tails and white trim.
It's updated now, but built originally in 1925 in the old style with real oak floors, heavy crown moulding and base along with back banded trim. Each bedroom (one king & one queen) features new, truly comfortable beds, bright colors, flat panel high definition WIFI TV's and an enormous fully tiled bath.
Tne bathroom has a tub/shower combination and the second has a huge walk in tile shower. You'll relish the size of each bathroom and all of the convenient shelving. The living room is filled with leather and rattan furnishings with bright and colorful cushions and pillows. The living room, dining and kitchen are painted with sand walls and a soft, sky blue ceiling. A large High Definition flat panel with Wi-Fi along with original art work adorn the walls.
Internet and Wi-Fi are available wirelessly throughout the home and yard. Most interesting about the Cocoanut Cottage are the multitude of large windows found throughout the home bringing so much light and visions of everything lush and tropical right outside. The kitchen is huge and equipped with the best in equipment and stainless cookware, dishware and cutlery. The dining room seats six, but can be expanded to seat 8 if required.
A convenient full size washer and dryer is located on a small screened laundry room which opens up to an enormous elevated deck outside. Here in a fully enclosed and private lushly landscaped rear yard you'll finding an IKEA wood dining set that seats six which overlooks an 8 x 14 Koi pond with hungry fish and a waterfall. Beautiful newly installed deck pavers join a sunning area with two full loungers, a large seating area under a 12 x 14 Pergola with plenty of seating and a hot tub / spa for 6 hidden amid the lush tropical foliage all connected by a meandering paver path.
Landscape lights create a magical environment at night highlighting all of the lushness of the tropical foliage here at Cocoanut Cottage. It’s a mesmerizing very private, rear yard that you will hardly want to leave. Your neighbors on either side are educators at two nearby colleges: New College and the Ringling College of Art and Designs.
Two blocks south on Tamiami Trail [US41] is the Sarasota Bay Club, Sarasota’s nicest and most exclusive waterfront retirement facility. Three blocks south is Pioneer Park which features a tennis court, outdoor basketball facilities and a series of statuary exercise features.
The park has a walkway system circling an inner lake. Just south of the park on Cocoanut Avenue, you’ll find a Publix Grocery and Liquor store along with an extremely nice exercise/spa facility, Chinese restaurants and other shops. Further south on 10th and Cocoanut Avenue an upscale live jazz club called the Starlite Room offers dining, nice bar/lounge and live jazz. The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, a 1,736 seat premier Sarasota venue for music, theater, comedy, dance etc. is located nearby between 7h and 8th Avenue on US41. The Player's Theater offers live performances at its location on US 41.
