About the area

Large heated pool with jacuzzi and sunbeds. Two tennis courts. One floodlit! Beautiful lakes and gardens. Barbecue/picnic area. Free use! Clubhouse with small library and games room. A short drive to fantastic pure white beaches. Public Buses just outside site. Five minutes walk to large shopping mall and cinema complex. Ideal for families and those wanting a quiet safe location but within easy reach of lots of attractions and things to do. Sophisticated Sarasota Bradenton close to the islands of Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, Siesta Key From Tampa and St Petersburg take the great Tamiami Trail and the dramatic Sunshine Skyway to reach Bradenton and Sarasota. Explore the string of narrow islands that hug the wonderful stretch of coastline south of Tampa Bay. Explore the antique shops and bookstalls of 'main street Spring training home of Baseballs, Pittsburg Pirates and longtime home to both The David Leadbetter Golf Academy and The Bollettiere Tennis Academy Enjoy world class shopping at St Armands Circle, championship golf courses and magnificent gulf beaches. Bradenton and Sarasota are located 21/2 hours from Orlando, and Disney theme parks, and 1 hour from Tampa and Busch Gardens. Sarasota/Bradenton Area Sarasota has a thriving theater & arts district and parallel to the coast are several islands with great beaches--among them are Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island off of Bradenton. Circus-town heritage contrasts with cultural sophistication in a destination where beach and environmental consciousness add still more breadth to what Sarasota offers. Circus master John Ringling was among the first to discover these offerings in the early 1900s, and his impact on the town is many-ringed. Where his circus once wintered, Ringling erected an Italian palace named Ca' d'Zan, or House of John. Visitors can visit this elaborate Gilded Age mansion on the bay, part of the Ringling Estates which also includes an art museum specializing in the baroque, a circus Ca' d'Zan at the John & Mable Ringling Museum of ArtSarasota CVB museum, gardens and a state-of-the-art theater. The lovely grounds are host to special events and festivals throughout the year. Downtown Sarasota thrives in the afterglow of Ringling 's love for things artistic. The Theater and Arts District encompasses theaters from experimental to opera. Art galleries are rife, particularly along Main Street and Palm Avenue, and trendy restaurants give the town a reputation for fine and innovative dining. Historic and artistic pockets of antiquing, gallery-hopping and cafés crop up at Herald Square and Southside districts. Towles Court Artist Colony revitalized a bungalow neighborhood with sprightly paint jobs, galleries, studios, eateries and other artistic outlets. Circus Sarasota keeps alive the Big Top tradition and the high schools even teach circus skills and stage annual circus events. Art takes to the street along downtown 's bayfront, home to a charter fleet, park, name luxury resorts, the striking Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and a nearby hands-on museum. Famed shopping center, St. Armands Circle on Lido Key, remembers the circus with plaques naming its stars. Spinning off its roundabout park, some of Sarasota 's finest clothing, home decorating and book stores radiate, interspersed with ice cream and chocolate shops, delis and sidewalk restaurants. The beach lies steps away, part of a broken chain of sand that spreads north and south. At the north end of Lido Key, Mote Aquarium conducts important research on sharks, manatees, sea turtles and their crucial habitat. Tour the facility, where you can watch sharks and manatees in huge aquariums, pet stingless sting rays, or take a nature encounter cruise. Across the pass to the north, Longboat Key stretches past golf and tennis resorts, restaurants with a reputation, shops and lovely manicured vistas fronting affluent homes. Anna Maria Island is next in line and it contains three separate communities. Find romance on the shores of Siesta KeyGreg Brown Bradenton Beach, a classic beach town, in recent years has taken steps to preserve its history and character. Holmes Beach is newer and mostly residential with small boutique resorts, a beachfront bed and breakfast, and rave-review dining. Historic Anna Maria clings tightly to its hidden beach persona, revealed in old beach cottages and easy-going seafood houses. Anna Maria Island is close to Bradenton, the city across the Intracoastal Waterway that starts off where Sarasota ends. Across the bridge from Bradenton Beach, time-frozen Cortez safeguards it fishing village way of life with a developing maritime museum and waterfront seafood houses. Fishing and eco-tourism excursions depart from the docks along with commercial boats. Downtown Bradenton claims its Village of the Arts, where artists live, work and sell. Around Main Street, it resurrects a district once dependent on the Manatee River. Visit the sophisticated South Florida Museum and its manatee mascot of many years. Have lunch on the river and peruse the antique shops. Across the river, Palmetto, once strictly a tomato farming and fishing town, is becoming a tourist destination with marina activity, museums, parks and restaurants worth the trip. South of Sarasota, two bridges deliver you to the world-famous soft, white sands of Siesta Key, where lodging is as colorful and individual as the local population. So stay a while to shop and dine as casually or fine as you wish. Exclusive Casey Key to the south leads to Nokomis Beach, known for its fishing, particularly at North Jetty Park. The South Jetty lies across the pass in Venice, shark tooth capital of the world (so called for the fossilized, prehistoric sharks teeth that wash upon the shores of Venice and Caspersen Beaches). The fossils roll up on the salt-and-pepper sands around the fishing pier and the annual Sharks ' Tooth Seafood Festival in April celebrates this dental phenomenon and the town's bounty of fish. “Perfect place to relax”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2016

We really like this place. The beaches are the best ever!!! We had great time in family. 5 min walk to Costco and other store. House very clean, good for a familly of 6. We appreciate having a pool near the house for an evening activity after the beach. Good communication with The owner from the begining t'ill the end. Feel safe to book.

Owner's reply: Another great family discovering the quality of our property and location. We have so many great beaches nearby that it takes a month to enjoy them all!

“Nice vacation in Sarasota”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2016

As always it was a very nice vacation in Sarasota. Siesta Key incl. the beaches are wonderful. But also in Sarasota with the Old Town and the harbor is nice. Don’t miss the sunset directly on the beach or at Marina Jack. Also a recommendation is St. Armands where you can walk a little bit and have a good cocktail at Tommy Bahama. As nearly “usual” we stayed at Timberwood Vacation Villas. A little bit older but still cozy and good equipped. The plans for next year ar already ongoing…

“Crew house Villa”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2015

We really enjoyed our stay. The condo was clean and spacious. It was well equipped with everything we needed. My only complaint was that they need a hand towel rack in both bathrooms. The location was great. It was easy to get to beaches, shopping and museums. If I go back to Sarasota I would choose to stay there again. Pool and hot tub were great. Nice clubhouse and we got to meet other people at Wednesday morning coffee. Neighbors were friendly. Very enjoyable stay. Owners were very nice and responded to any correspondence promptly.

Owner's reply: A really nice guest who left our home very clean. There is now a supply of hand towels in each bathroom!

“November Vacation”

Reviewed 17 Dec 2014

This villa was spacious, very clean, supplied with all your vacation needs, great location, friendly complex and a really great place to stay.

Owner's reply: This was the first time we have hosted this family and they really made the most of there stay. They also said they will be returning!

“Convenient and Comfortable”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2014

We enjoyed staying at this property. It was very comfortable and convenient to the beach, shopping and Sarasota sites. We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's reply: We are so glad they had a great vacation!

“Wonderful”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2014

We recently spent 9 days at this property. We enjoyed the spacious living arrangements as there were 5 adults and there was plenty room to spread out and have private time. We also appreciated having a kitchen as we cooked many of our own meals to cut costs. The pool was enjoyable and convenient. We liked being only 15 minutes from Siesta Beach and were able to go there at various times of the day. We certainly would go back to this property in the future.

Owner's reply: Very nice guests who took care of our home and made the most of Sarasota!

“Great stay in Sarasota”

Great accommodation, comfortable, clean, spacious for our family of 5. Convenient to lots of beaches, shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the community pool and tennis courts. We will be back staying at timberwood vacation villas!

Owner's reply: Such a great family who have stayed before and are always welcome back.

“Great place to stay in Sarasota”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2013

We really enjoyed our stay in this villa. The location was great with plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance . The Siesta Keys beach is a short drive away as well as several Golf courses. The villa itself was well equipped, spacious and comfortable as was advertised. The "Village des Pines "area is great to walk around surrounded by beautiful scenery. We were even able to see a Mother Owl taking care of a new born who had fallen from a nest. The pool and hot tub were all very well kept. We would certainly recommend this and would stay here again. A week was too short so a longer stay is being planned for next year. Claude & Sylvia

Owner's reply: Its great when a guest wants to come back for longer next time! We are always trying to improve our property and each time a former guest returns they can see the upgrades!

“A Pleasant Resort”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2012

We went to this resort before this year, on 2003. It was good then, and it is good now! It was a pleasure to be in--everything was in order, the rooms and furniture are spacious and comfortable, and it was convenient for us to go shopping around in and enjoying Sarasota. We also like the tennis court and swimming pool. Not every resort retains this high quality after about ten years, and Timberwoods/Village des Pines is exceptional.

Owner's reply: Its so nice when guests return and see the constant upgrading we do to keep this location in tip top condition.

“Love it”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2012

Love this resort and could happily stay there forever! Peaceful, quiet, but lots to do. Beautiful beaches, shops, restaurants. Resort facilities with outdoor grilling, tennis, wonderful swimming pool, all excellent. We've been there before and are now already talking about returning for the second time. Although the villas are 2 bedroomed, there'slots of space and they're very well designed. Would buy one if we had the money. Highly recommended for adults alone,or with a family. LOVE IT!!!

Owner's reply: Another great family who took advantage of our Disney home and then our Sarasota home to make a brilliant best of Florida experience!

Fantastic location and accommodation - John Fisher and family - Liverpool UK

Eddie & Wendy, thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful villa. Our holiday was perfect and our daughter made many new friends at the pool area. The beaches are just a short ride away and Siesta Key is fantastic. We will be back again. Edwin De Kwant - Holland.

"Dear Eddie & Wendy This was our 20th Anniversary celebration and our daughter's 16th birthday - we were so looking forward to coming! We have so enjoyed our stay in your condo and the area. Your accomodations were beyond our expectations. The kids, my husband and I all had a fantastic time. We are getting one last round of tennis, will hit the pool and on the way out to Tampa to catch our flight home, hope to dip ourselves in the wonderful Gulf waters one more time. We would most definitely come again and recommend it to others. Thanks again, Karin and family " - Karin W., Albuquerque, NM, 07/24/2010

Hi Eddie and Wendy

The villa at Timberwoods was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was good to be based in the Sarasota area and be able to get to Siesta Beach quickly and have access to so many great golf courses and shopping opportunities, my wife and daughter particular enjoyed this part of the trip. We are hoping that we will be back next year and will not be looking to stay anywhere other than Timberwoods, hopefully back in Crewhouse.

Thanks again for giving us the chance to stay in your great villa.

Review Title : 1204355 - "Comfortable villa in an excellent location, and Golfers Dream"

"This villa is perfect for a family holiday to the gulf coast.

It contained all of the equipment needed for a rental of a few weeks. Lounge/dining area was newly furnished, with comfy sofas, a large flat screen TV and wifi Internet connection. Kitchen area was well stocked and beds were comfortable (didn't use the convertibles). The villa also contained tennis equipment, beach towels, lilos and buckets & spades, so no need to fill your suitcases with any of these items.

We visited for 10 days in late October 2010, during the UK schools' mid-term break and the Timberwoods estate was quiet, as this is the end of low season The pool area had plenty of new chairs and sun loungers and the pool is a good size for both swimming and mucking around. We used one of the tennis courts and this was well maintained, but the temperature was too hot for tennis.

The biggest advantage of this villa, over others that we have rented in the Sarasota area is the location: Crescent Beach on Siesta Key (the best beach on the gulf coast) is 10 minutes drive
The main shopping mall in Sarasota is 5 minutes walk, so when the boys are playing golf, the girls can shop!!
Downtown Sarasota and St Armands Circle is 20 minutes drive
Junction 205 of the i75 is 10 minutes drive
Ellenton outlet mall is 30 minutes drive

All of the usual restaurant chains were within 10-15 minutes drive of the villa (Outback, Longhorn, Chilis, Carrabas, Bonefish Grille etc) and there were also some good locally owned restaurants. We'd recommend Turtles on Siesta Key. You could dine at the waterside inside or out. Food was good and at $100 for 4, including drinks and a bottle of wine, prices were reasonable.

The location also gave easy access to dozens of excellent golf courses within a 30 minute drive. We played some of the best in the area; University Park, The Venetian, Waterleaf, River Strand, The River Club, Oak Ford, Sarasota National and Serenoa and by booking a couple of days beforehand, on the Internet, only once did we pay over $25 per person per afternoon round, including cart (University Park was $32pp). Oak Ford was $12 for me and my son played for free, so 18 holes of golf for two was cheaper than the my golf glove. I know you won't get these silly deals in high season, but the quality of the courses in the area is second to none in Florida.

The best endorsement we can provide for this villa is that we have already booked it for the same time next year"

Eddie and Wendy,

Our stay was perfect. We loved the house and will recommend it to friends. Had everything we needed. We had a wonderful time.

"The descriptions are 100% correct but the pictures do not do the estate or house justice. We would recommend this house to anyone, young and old. We were more than happy with our choice. We were greeted each morning by friendly neighbours, which made us feel very relaxed. The estate is quiet which is exactly what you want after a day on Siesta Keys beaches which are some of the finest in the world. The patio area was great for eating breakfast and planning the days events. I would strongly recommend renting a boat and exploring the keys. We rented from CB's just over the main bridge into Siesta Key. We were lucky enough to see a wild dolphin and a group of Manatees. Our favourite restaurant was Phillippi Creek Village it has fantastic seafood and fish as well as your normal chicken dishes, it's a must and not a big chain. Eddie and Wendy Carter are a pleasure to deal with. We also rang the emergency contact (because we hadn't used the lock system before on the door) whose name I cannot remember and she was brilliant to. Sarasota and Siesta Keys are amazing and this house is a perfect base for you visit. Thanks Paul, Michelle and Cameron." - Paul E., , 04/21/2011
