About the area

Sarasota has been made famous for it's art community and culture since the circus magnate John Ringling settled in the area in the 1920's. The John Ringling Art Museum and mansion are a popular attraction. In the community there are many facilities for offshore and bay fishing, jet skiing, wind surfing, walking, equistrian sports, golfing, tennis, opera, ballet, symphony, theatre, motorsports and much more. I-75 makes traveling to Tampa/St Petersburg, Venice, Ft Myers, Naples convenient. Sarasota is about 2 hours from Orlando's Disney/Universal Studios etc. Sarasota's Lido Beach, famous for it's white sugar sand beaches, is a wonderful place to jog, walk or just kick back and enjoy the Florida sunshine.

“Sarasota guesthouse getaway”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2016

My husband and I were extremely pleased with our guesthouse stay. The accommodations were absolutely beautiful and immaculate. The location was perfect as we are beach goers and it took 3 minutes in our car to get to beautiful Lido Beach every day. St Armand's Circle was within walking distance. Owners Joyce and Jeff were lovely and we can't wait to go back next year!!!

“Getaway extraordinaire”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2016

Everything was just as described. Perfect getaway for us as a couple who needed to get Away. Quiet, yet in the center of it all. Enjoyed the host and hostess, the beach, the walks, the food and had fun. Wishing we had found this place before the winter regulars. Highly recommend it. Would go back in a flash. Thanks Joyce and Jeff for your hospitality.

“Beautifully Appointed Sarasota Apartment”

Reviewed 4 May 2016

This is our third year staying at Joyce and Jeff's St. Armand's Key apartment, our rental period being March and April. We feel so fortunate to have found the perfect Sarasota apartment for two in a great location. It is a few minutes walk to St. Armand's Circle and to Lido Key Beach. The apartment is also only a few minutes drive to downtown Sarasota with its wonderful choice of fine dining, theater and concerts. The apartment is very comfortable and very well appointed. The privacy couldn't be better and Joyce and Jeff are the perfect hosts. They make you feel right at home. The setting is in a beautiful tropical neighborhood. We sincerely feel that if a couple is looking for a perfect Sarasota holiday, Joyce and Jeff's apartment is ideal.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the glowing report.... we look forward to your stay every year ! You are now part of the Family. See You Next March!! Joyce & Jeff

“Fantastic hosts in a fantastic location”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2015

You could not find a better location and accommodation if you researched endlessly. A very spacious one bedroom with dressing room, kitchen, diner and lounge along with spacious bathroom and balcony overlooking the swimming pool. St almonds is a wonderful location and your accommodation is set amongst some of the most impressive mansions in Florida. You have on your doorstep some of the best beaches in the world, white sand as far as the eye can see, the finest dining in Florida with so much choice. You will find a short drive or a 30 minute walk across the bridge into down town Serosota, fantastic Art Deco architecture which includes all the culture and diversity anyone could wish for. From the opera house, library, museum, theatres and cinema for all tastes. There is a Saturday food market which is the biggest and best we have ever encountered. And I have saved the biggest accolade to last, which is our hosts Jeff and Joyce and there family. We were honered to be invited to their thanks giving lunch, their hospitality was fantastic. Try it, you will not regret one minute of the experience. We booked for one week and stayed for two. A big thank you from Val and Steve

“Hidden gem”

Perfect in many ways. Great location for visiting St Armand's Circle, Lido beach, Long Boat Key and many more locations. Accommodation was very welcoming after our flight from England. Our stay was very relaxing and the apartment was well equiped. It made a lovely change to staying in a hotel and Joyce and Geoff made us very welcome. We would definitely go back and would have no hesitation in recommending.

Owner's reply: Thanks Tracy, It was so nice to meet you both! We are so happy you had a good vacation and we look forward to seeing you again soon! Joyce and Jeff

“Paradise near the circle”

We spent 8 days in the rental property. It was a real find. The property was immaculate and very spacious. The owners Joyce and Jeff were charming hosts. They looked after us very well and we cannot praise them highly enough. We would certainly return to the property on our next visit to Florida.

Owner's reply: Thanks Jean & Bill we also enjoyed meeting you both and hope you will return soon!!

“We wished we could have stayed longer!”

A hidden secret, beautifully decorated and clean guesthouse within walking distance of St. Armands Circle and a lovely beach. Although the guesthouse is for 2 persons , you can def. have people over for diner and sit at the covered area. Also beautifully decorated. The bedroom is very spacious and has a connected walk-in closet. The bathroom was spacious and fresh and we loved the big shower. The living/dining area was nicely furnished, unlike a lot of other rental homes. All toiletries were at hand and even some basic food supplies. We weren't really lucky with the weather this particular week, but we enjoined ourselves very much. Thank you so much for your hospitality Joyce and Jeff and if we're ever planning another visit to Sarasota you will be our #1 option.

Owner's reply: Rixt, Thank-you for the lovely review! It was so nice to meet you and your son! It is so nice to see a young person with such good manners! I always feel responsible for bad weather---- but so glad you still had an enjoyable vacation!! Hope to see you again. Joyce & Jeff

“Idyllic”

My wife and I spent 7 lovely days walking from one end of Lido Beach to the other in the mornings, and then strolling over to St. Armands for delicious dinners in the evenings. The accommodations were comfortable, peaceful, and have everything you need! Looking forward to our next stay :-)

Owner's reply: Thank-you so much for the great review! We really enjoyed meeting you and will look forward to having you back in Dec. Sincerely, Joyce & Jeff

“Excellent Stay on Lido Island”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2013

Excellent location - perfect for us and we enjoyed meeting our lovely hosts! We enjoyed an easy 5 minute walk to St. Armand's Circle to shop and dine out, we rented 21-speed bikes for our stay and rode to Longboat Key and into Sarasota for meals, to enjoy music, and to go to the Farmer's Market on Saturday. The water on Lido Beach is a short walk or bike ride and it was great for swimming. We also enjoyed the pool at the house, and found the apartment perfect for our needs. Mote Marine Lab and Acquarium is an easy bike ride and well worth the tour. Wifi access in the apartment worked very well, we made some meals at home and the Kitchen was fully equipped. The Master bedroom was comfortable and spacious. Great get away trip for us and we'd love to go back.

“EXCELLENT!!”
