Description of the Saugatuck vacation apartment rental
You are steps away from the shopping, restaurants, bars, galleries, boardwalk, and parks of downtown Saugatuck, yet comfortably accommodated in this spacious, comfortable loft apartment. The exposed brick, 12' high ceilings, and architectural elements fill the space (1,500 sq. ft) with character. Huge windows offer views of Mt. Baldhead and the park blocks. A wonderful custom cabinet and vintage workbench from the old hardware store have been converted to serve as a convenience kitchen with microwave, countertop induction burner, refrigerator, sink, with cookware, toaster, dishes, and utensils for eight. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the studio bedroom has a double bed. Air conditioned for your comfort; cable tv and wi fi for your entertainment and convenience.

Area Information
Oval Beach, Mt. Baldhead Park, Saugatuck Dunes State Park & Schultz Park have picnic areas with grills. All city parks have picnic tables available. We enjoy using a public grill on the scenic Kalamazoo River.

For more than 100 years, tourists have sought refuge from the stress of everyday life in the Saugatuck/ Douglas area - a peaceful place where no one rushes and no one rushes you. They can mellow out in surroundings reminiscent of vintage, small-town America, whose hallmarks are scenic beauty and a unique collection of shops, restaurants and art galleries. For those who want to mix relaxation with excitement, the area offers a year-round calendar of fun-filled activities and events. No wonder the National Trust for Historical Preservation designated these towns as one of the nation's Dozen Distinctive Destinations!

The two towns, nestled among towering sand dunes, are bordered by the winding Kalamazoo River on its way to Lake Michigan. Activities abound on the two waterways. Both towns maintain public beaches on Lake Michigan for swimmers and sunbathers. Saugatuck's Oval Beach has been rated by Condé Nast's Traveler Magazine as one of the 25 best shorelines in the world and one of America's 11 great Beachtowns. National Geographic Traveler Magazine agreed, rating it one of the top two freshwater beaches in America. More recently, the Chicago Tribune ranked it number one out of the Midwest's five best beaches and Life Magazine judged it Best Dune Town.

In addition to finding unique clothing and accessories for your self and for gifts, and seeing a kaleidoscopic of artwork in the galleries, we love to hike the dunes in Saugatuck Dunes State Park and Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area. We also enjoy touring the winery, farms and studios in next door harvest country. Kids enjoy sifting in the sand searching for stones & shells, including lucky stones. For more info, check out the Lucky Stone Tavern within Saugatuck Brewing Co.

Amazing Apartment

I absolutely loved staying here! The booking process was hassle free, check-in was extremely easy, and then there's the location. What an cool, eclectic space. This place has a charm I would expect from a B&B, but I felt we had a lot more privacy. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We had an absolutely perfect stay here in this little piece of Saugatuck history! Great location we were close to everything this gem of a town has to offer yet, the loft was extremly quiet. The accomodations and small touches were perfect! We will definatly be back! Thank you Bonnie and Ron!

I couldn't have been happier to find this gem for the weekend. Been coming to Saugatuck for years and this location is as good as it gets. Very relaxing setting looking over Butler Street and the park. One block to Uncommon Grounds and Ida Reds. Park your car and enjoy the town. Very clean mix of urban loft and old time comfort. The owners were very nice and accommodating.
My Response
I especially value Micheal's opinion, as he has been visiting Saugatuck for many year several times.

We had a wonderful stay at the hardware loft. It was the perfect location...simply park your car and enjoy the town...everything is within walking distance. The apartment was clean, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed a fabulous meal at Everyday People Cafe in Douglas (5 minute drive) ... can be difficult to get into (do not take reservations) but well worth it. Definitely will be back. Thank You Bonnie!!!
My Response

My girlfriend and I rented the loft for just a night, but the host was very accommodating, and the place had everything we could have possibly needed. Water bottles were in the fridge, everything was clean, there were directions on anything that needed it (DVD, TV, fireplace, etc.), and the drawers were labeled for silverware and the like. The location couldn't have been better, and if I stay in Saugatuck again, I will definitely be staying here.
