Area Information
Sausalito is the first small town north of the Golden Gate bridge in Marin County. A center of small boat recreation, artist colony, and prime tourist destination. We are minutes away from SF by bus or car, half an hour by Ferry. San Francisco is the "Paris of the West" with a vibrant cultural life (symphony orchestra, opera, ballet, jazz music center, many art and historical museums, etc.) and all kinds of cultures, food, etc. represented in the various neighborhoods of the city. San Francisco Bay has some of the best sailing available anywhere in an urban area of the world: day sailing the bay, ocean sailing outside the gate or sailing up the Delta for a Tom Sawyer-esque adventure.

We are about 50 miles south of the Napa and Sonoma wine growing regions, where endless wine tasting expeditions are possible. Last time I looked there were over 600 wineries in these regions, many of them world class. We are about 120 miles north of Monterrey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Big Sur, where the history of California began. Attractions there and nearby include the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Steinbeck Museum, sea otters and other unique marine life, gorgeous marine scenery, the 17 Mile Drive, etc.

We are just over 200 miles from Yosemite National Park and at that driving distance LOTS of ski areas. The Sierras are a wonderful example of a fault block granite mountain range with incredible mountain vistas, historical towns from the Gold Rush days of 1849 spread throughout the foothills, etc.

Northern California is one of the most diverse, scenic, cultural areas and centers of technological innovation anywhere in the world. Come visit and stay a while, there is a lot to see and visit
