“Family Vacation”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2015

The facility exceeded our expectations! It was beautiful and very well kept. The decor was in very good taste. There was ample room for our family of 8. Owner Jerry Ritten provided a list of sites and activities in the area which was very helpful. We couldn't have been more pleased!

Owner's reply: Thanks, Karen for such a nice review and I'm glad your family had a great vacation up at the cabin! Can't wait to have you come back next year.

“Blissful and perfect”

Lion Downe Cottage was an amazing place to celebrate a birthday with my closest friends. The cabin is clean, comfortable and absolutely beautiful. Even during a dreary March weekend, we were blown away by the beauty of the surroundings. Rob and Heather were awesome to work with. They provided me with all the information I needed in order to have a great stay. They have thought of everything you could need and make sure the cabin is well stocked. I can't express how perfect our weekend at Lion Downe was and I HIGHLY recommend a stay!

An ideal northern Minnesota experience. The cabin comes complete with amazing accommodations and beautiful views of Lake Superior. We felt very taken care of. This property is highly recommended. We had a wonderful vacation. Thanks Jerry!

“Unbelievable experience!”

Reviewed 28 Jan 2009

We recently stayed at this log cabin on Lake Superior, and were blown away by how great everything was. All the little touches were perfect, every bathroom and the kitchen had a filled hand soap dispenser, the floors in the lower level are heated under the carpet, the kitchen was stocked with multiple spices, there were assorted sizes of zip lock bags, and the toilet seat covers gently lowered themselves and did not slam! The décor was modern and sophisticated versus the standard up North cabin flair of bears and antlers. Lake Superior is so close that when you look out the windows it is all you can see in any direction. I have stayed at many other places on the North Shore, but this is far and away the best I have ever been at. Going forward, all our stays on the North Shore will be at Temperance Landing.

“Lake Superior Log Home”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2008

The log home setting was beautiful with stunning views of Lake Superior. The home was beautifully decorated and more than adequately furnished (the kitchen and bathrooms had everything one could possibly need). Lutsen was approximately 10 miles away and access to some state parks and trails were within a couple miles only. We would love to come back and stay.

What a wonderful "cabin" An extremely elegant but exceptionally confortable home, with amazing views over the lake. Very quiet, peaceful and lots to do very close by with all interests. Luxury linens, towels and VERY comfortable beds! You won't fail to be impressed by this beautiful home. We will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful log home. The photos on the wedsite don't really do it justice! It was even better than we expected. The accommodations were beyond spectacular and everything we needed was provided. We felt absolutely pampered! It is situated right on the lake and the location is perfect--close to the areas that we enjoy for hiking and golfing. We'll definitely go back to enjoy another relaxing vacation experience.

The stay at Jerry's rental was absolutely marvelous. The whole place was an abundance of relaxation. The crystal clear water was just steps away. The view was amazing from the great room and loft. The master suite bed was the most comfortable bed I ever laid my head to rest in. The luxury and amenities are far beyond anything we ever imagined. This was far beyond an A+ stay. It was quiet and tranquil. Grand Marais is just a short scenic drive up the road with plenty of things to do in the area. I suggest taking a trip on the Hjordis, a schooner sailboat, Its worth the experience. Excellent food nearby at the Satellite Inn. The Hospitality and kindness of the area's populous is astounding. Jerry was an excellent host and kind person to deal with. The experience will last a lifetime. HIGHLY Suggest it.
