About the area

We love our house and so have our guests and friends. We love the space, the quiet, the wildlife, the beach and the two (2) championship golf courses, that are always in great shape, and Charleston of course! We fell in love with Seabrook Island in 1994 and have had a villa and then built this house in 2004. We built the house because everytime we went to Seabrook we had friends and extended family vacationing with us. The house can sleep 10 comfortably and 4 bathrooms with three(3) hotwater tanks, everyone can take showers at the same time to get ready for dinner. Now,Seabrook Island is even better, with the new Club and Property Owner's facilities (completed in 2009), which you can enjoy with an Amenity Card (included in our rental charge). The new lake house is a short bike or car ride away, with its outdoor pools, childern's play area, fitness center (small daily charge); the new Tennis and Equestrian Centers are also nearby. The main clubhouse, golf and beach club are a gentle stroll away or 5 minute bike ride. Enjoy eating a fabulous meal overlooking the ocean in the Palmetto dining room or an informal lunch or snack with a coctail at the open air Pelican's Nest (during season), just a stone throw away from the beach and ocean. Or,simply sit in a beach chair and watch the dolphins surface and pelicans catch their daily meals.

“exceptional”

This was our third stay at the Calhoun's home on Seabrook Island and it has lived up to it's expectation each time. The home is always very clean and spacious and Ron always does a great job in helping in any way. Seabrook is a wonderful time for our family and we look forward to it each year. We always enjoy the Pelicans Nest for lunch, dinner and drinks. The pool is a favorite of the kids but the beach is my personal favorite and only a short drive by bike with spectacular sunrises. We also find Reds Ice House at Bohicket to be fun for all you can eat crablegs on Monday. I've played both golf courses and find them to be always in great shape. They are not the Ocean Course on Kiawha, but you can still play there too. Our family always enjoys the Calhouns home and they are most gracious. I give the home and Seabrook high marks.

Owner's reply: Thomas, thanks for your kind words. It was great to have you stay and enjoy our home!

“Ultimate Vacation Getaway”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2016

I've discovered a true treasure that our family will use for years to come! This house is amazing! With four spacious bedrooms and four bathrooms, it was perfect for us, our kids and spouses, and grandson plus a sister-in-law! The kitchen is extremely well stocked and user friendly! We ate all of our meals at the house even though there were places to go out for meals close by. There is a roadside market just up the road heading into/out of the island with fresh veggies and gigantic fresh shrimp! What a treat! Although the extra facilities at the resort are awesome, we spent our days on the beautifully clean oceanfront! The beach walkway is only about 100 yards up the street from the house with a boardwalk to the beach. It was easy to catch the sunrise over the ocean from there, too! And since this is an island, we were able to drive to another beach access, Pelican Beach (#9) to witness a sunset over the ocean, a rare site on the east coast! We loved the natural surroundings of Seabrook Island! The boardwalk to the beach was like nothing I've ever seen; there was beautiful vegetation with the boardwalk path cut into it. One afternoon there were two deer in the front yard. We could easily watch them from the stairway landing until they crossed the road and went into a wooded area. The backyard view is awesome as it is a pond on the golf course. We watched "jumping fish" in the mornings and evenings! We also saw cranes and heron visiting the pond area. I was also able to catch a beautiful red moon setting our the pond! At the beach we saw Dolphins swimming off the shore. The Calhouns were so accommodating and easy to work with! I didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back again! One thing we missed this trip was seeing THE Angel Oak! That will not happen again! Be sure you plan to see it! It is clearly marked from the road into and out of the island but it closes at 5 pm!

Owner's reply: We are glad you had a chance to discover and experience a Seabrook vacation. Every day on Seabrook begins and ends with great sunrises and sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean!

“Excellent family home rental”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2016

We rented this home for 1 week, and filled all 4 bedrooms with ourselves and our 3 grown children and their significant others and one toddler. The home worked really well for us and with each bedroom having a bathroom, it was comfortable. The kitchen is fairly well stocked, we brought a few of our own items. The sheets and towels were OK, but could use an updating in some of the rooms. The porch is awesome for lazy mornings, and the swing was well utilized. The owner was super responsive to all of my emails and was easy to work with. Anyone with difficulty with stairs should not rent this home - 2 flights of stairs to get in the door. This was our first time at Seabrook and we LOVED it! It was more than I could have asked for in a family vacation. Highly recommend.

Owner's reply: We are glad that you discovered and enjoyed your Seabrook stay and enjoyed the swing!

“Perfect Seabrook Island location”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2016

We had a party of seven, 3 generations, in this house for the week of Memorial Day, so the 4 bedrooms and 4 baths were ideal. I loved the multiple porches, particularly the wrap around porch off the living room with a swing, a pleasant place to sit and chat and catch the breezes. We were there for the Spoleto festival; it was a reasonable drive into Charleston for those events and for sightseeing and shopping. We were within walking distance of the beach (and our dog loved the dog beach) and a short hop to Harris Teeter in Freshfields Village. Note: Be sure to go to Vincent's in Freshfields; they have a soda fountain and make old-fashioned chocolate ice cream sodas, hot fudge sundaes, etc The house was pristine clean and Ron Calhoun couldn't have been nicer or easier to work with. In fact, everyone we encountered on Seabrook Island or in Charleston wrote the book on Southern graciousness and hospitality. A very pleasant stay.

Owner's reply: Glad you and your family had a pleasant stay and an opportunity to enjoy our small piece of Seabrook!

“Great Location on Seabrook Island”

We had a wonderful stay at this home on beautiful Seabrook Island. The home was in a great location with a short walk to the beach and short bike ride to the pool. The home had all the amenities that you could want or need. It was stocked with all the nececities in the kitchen with plenty of platters, large bowls, pans, etc. We had everything we needed and couldn't have asked for a better home. The ownwers were very responsive and easy to work with. We enjoyed the pool, beach, the equestrian center, the bohicket marina, and the shops at freshfield village. It was also a short drive to Charleston and we can 't wait to return!

Owner's reply: Shawna, We are glad you enjoyed your stay on Seabrook and our home!

“Wonderful home!!!”

We recently stayed in this beautiful home for a week during our daughter's wedding. The home was perfect for what we needed. The master suite upstairs was a great place for the Bride and her bridesmaids to get ready. The view off of the balcony was perfect for pictures of our daughter in her wedding dress. Ron was great to work with. I would stay here again and would highly recommend this home to others! Thanks Ron for helping to make our daughter's wedding dreams come true!

This is a great house with a great location. It is about 2 blocks from the beach and the entire area around there is very walk able. It also has a dog beach which was great for our 2 small dogs to exercise and it made a great place to meet other visitors. The owners of the home were very responsive before during and after our two month stay. They had a nice package of information for us when we got there concerning activities, dining and shopping. It is definitely a great rental.

Owner's reply: We are glad you got to enjoy your stay!

We spent a wonderful and relaxing week at this beautiful vacation home on Seabrook Island. The location is just perfect! Steps to the beach and backing on to a golf course offering magnificent views. The owners are very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. We are certainly considering to come back!

Owner's reply: Thanks for visiting! Glad to hear you had a great relaxing week. Let us know if we can help plan your next trip to Seabrook?

“Beautiful Home, Great Location”

Just returned from a relaxing week on Seabrook and our home could not have been more perfect for our family vacation. The house is very well appointed with everything you could need both in the kitchen and throughout the house. The location to the beach is a simple stroll away, and you can easily reach the pools & clubhouse via a short bike ride. The Master Bedroom is exceptional with skylights and a huge bathroom and walk in closet. The owner was also very easy to work with and VERY attentive to your needs, providing information on the Seabrook area, amenities and access to the home. We highly recommend this property.

“A slice of Heaven”

We've vacationed at Seabrook for 20+ years, staying at different properties each time. Stayed once on Kiawah Keep coming back to Seabrook!. Now we come as grandparents with our three grown children and their families. The Calhoun's home is very clean and comfortable. Views from the deck swing are lovely, especially at sunset. Couple of small bee nests along the deck which we took care of with provided spray. No other bugs to speak of. Watched alligators in the pond along the golf course. Even saw a couple black snakes in the back yard (house security?).This didn't keep us from taking family pictures in the yard! The ten of us watched spectacular heat lightening and a thunderstorm one evening from the gated deck. Having a 2 year old with us the gated deck was very reassuring to her mother! Seabrook's beaches never fail to please. Just a quick walk from the house even with two young girls. Private, spacious, clean. I could go on and on! Disappointed in how wind and water have eroded the sand dunes but nature prevails. Still breathtaking . Men fished in the ocean. Girls swam and helped younger ones build castles. Turtle patrol folks were eager to speak to us about turlte tracks to and from the beach looking for a nest site. After hours on the beach, bike rides, and walks we fixed meals in the well stocked kitchen. Dishes need to be replaced as many are cracked. The ten of us were able to eat together, 2 at the bar, and the other 8 at the table, one on her mother's lap. We brought a chair in from a bedroom for the week. If there is one drawback interior wise, this would be it. There is sleeping for 9, using the futon for a 6 year old. Mr. Calhoun was able to get a crib for us for the 2 year old. The living space can seat 5-6 but not all of us. The dining area was for 6 as well. The Calhoun's home is lovely and Mr. Calhoun was very attentive to every detail from the beginning of the reservations right down to making sure we had a safe trip home. Seabrook Island never fails to please and their home was our "home away from home"

Wish we could have stayed longer! Seabrook and your home are just so beautifull. We have fallen in love with Charleston and your home. It simply does not get any better than sitting on the swing in the morning with coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine. We will be back! Thanks for the treat!
