Description from owner

The studio has a large living area that is light and airy. There is a view of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. In the front alcove is a queen-sized Sleep Number bed. The studio is great for one couple or a family with one child young enough to sleep in our pack 'n' play, which we can provide upon request. There is a tv with 140+ satellite channels and DVD player, and a desk where you can set up your laptop to take advantage of our high-speed wireless internet.

In the full-sized kitchen, you will find a dining table with four chairs, full-sized refrigerator, oven/stove, coffee maker, and microwave. The cabinets are filled with all the dishes and equipment you will need to prepare a snack or a meal. We stock Seattle's Best coffee and some pantry items to get you started.

The bathroom includes all the necessities . It has a shower only, no bathtub.

The studio occupies the second story of a rambling Craftsman-style home. The studio and main floor have separate entries and are completely closed off from one another inside. Your entry is up a flight of stairs in the backyard. Other guests use the main floor and a separate cottage on the property and share the yard space. The yard is a pleasant place to relax with a picnic table and charcoal grill.

About the area

Although you may feel like you're worlds away from it all when tucked inside the quiet, peaceful studio, you will actually be just 2-1/2 blocks from the heart of our neighborhood. Walk up the street to the West Seattle Junction to find great restaurants, coffe shops, shopping, a pharmacy, grocery stores, and nightlife. Our neighborhood, West Seattle is also home to Seattle's finest waterfront areas: Alki Beach and Lincoln Park. Alki provides summer fun and excellent views of downtown; Lincoln Park is great for a hike in the woods or a dip in the saltwater swimming pool. We recommend riding the Elliot Bay Water Taxi from Seacrest Pier to downtown Seattle. By car, downtown Seattle is just 10 minutes. Or, another great hassle-free option is to hop on a metro bus and ride just 15-20 minutes.

“Great little bungalow”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable little studio. We stayed in and cooked our own food most of our stay and it had everything we needed, with the exception of a cookie sheet or oven ware dishes for the nice vintage oven. Thanks also to the owners for being so considerate and leaving dog towels and bags, both of which certainly came in handy. It's easy to walk to just about anywhere in west seattle from this centralized location, and our view of the mountains and sound were a nice treat to return to. We'd stay again and certainly recommend to others visiting Seattle.

“Happy memory”

The studio is spacious and well equipped and the neighbourhood is quiet and attractive. We arrived from the airport by taxi and thereafter walked quite a lot or used our Orca cards (available to seniors; even UK ones) to get around. There are quite a few steps and stairs to get from the street to the apartment but in this very safe area dealing with bags in two "hits" wasn't a problem. Three days weren't nearly enough and if we get the chance to come again, Starlight Studios would be our first choice.

“Home Away”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2012

We were so thankful to have a private home away from home vs. a sterile hotel room. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness, quietness and funky decor. I also appreciated the little gift basket of snacks after a long day of traveling, thank you! Laura, you have thought of everything ... maps, local sites, extra blankets, coffee, entertainment ... I definitely will recommend your property. The bed and pillows were very comfortable too!

“An easy place to recommend”

My wife and I stayed here recently, and we found the experience very enjoyable. The apartment is comfortably decorated with an inviting mix of contemporary and classic American styles. Everything was clean and convenient for sightseeing and dining. We've already decided to recommend this place to family members, and likely will use it again ourselves.

“Studio in southwest Seattle”

Reviewed 22 Nov 2011

This is really a complete apartment on the second floor of a house with a private entrance. Great value for the price. Only complaint is that the queen size mattress should have been firmer for a better night's sleep. Otherwise this is a great location if you want to be in southwest Seattle. I would give it 3.5 stars.

“Our favorite!”

Introduced my friends to this awesome little apartment! We all had a wonderful stay. Very quiet and friendly neighborhood. Super easy to walk to grocery, restaurants, and nightlife. Looking forward to coming again next year!

“Nice Home Away from Home”

This was a great place to stay in the Seattle area. It provided a lot more space for a cheaper price than a hotel. Restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance too! Getting into downtown was also a breeze on the buses. I would definitely recommend this to someone traveling to Seattle.

“Great experience”

The apartment was clean and well kept up. It had everything we needed and more. When we burned out a fuse the owners were there within a half hour to fix it. We had a wonderful stay.
