Taste sampling the many seafood eateries or the fine restaurants in Portland. One guest last year attended Harvest on the Harbor, a five-day festival of food in Portland.

Some of our guests enjoyed sitting on the rocking chairs at the cottage and observing the brilliant foliage reflecting on Sebago Lake and hearing the call of the loons. Others took day trips. The first two weeks in October are usually the best weeks for viewing in southern Maine but the colorful foliage lasts to the end of October.

We have been coming here for several years with our granddaughters and never tire of this lovely spot. The cottage is always immaculate, well stocked, and you can count on a pie to be waiting for you in the refrigerator. The owners, Bob and Marian, always greet us and make us feel welcome. The large manicured lawn and lovely gardens make sitting outdoors a pleasure. When we tire of swimming we fish off the dock, go boating, or just relax on our private sandy beach. The view by the waters edge is wonderful and this year we watched fireworks around the lake from the comfort of our lawn chairs! Shopping and restaurants are nearby as well as various attractions. For those who wish to BBQ, there is a grill and picnic table on the beach. All in all, this rental property offers us everything we are looking for. We always arrive home rested and happy with memories of another vacation well spent. Highly recommend this delightful spot.

Owner's reply:

Dear Chris and Ralph,
Thank you for your kind review. This is the fourth year you and your granddaughters have spent two weeks with us. We look forward to your arrival each year. This year the weather was picture perfect almost every day. We also enjoyed seeing the fireworks display right from our beach. It was a great show, and it beats trying to find a parking space and spending time in traffic trying to watch other towns' fireworks. Thank you for the nice way you left the cottage.

Literally a dream because my plans fell through and I couldn't go. I'm sure the place is beautiful and wonderful. Maybe next year the stars will align perfectly and I'll get to go.

Marian and Bob - Thank you for everything! The blueberry pie and ice cream was such an unexpected treat. We enjoyed the use of your boat and all the amenities your cottage contains. Marian and Bob - We are coming to the close of our 3rd week here and I don't know where the time has gone. We look forward to the vacation every year and when we get here it just flies by. The pies were delicious, Rich enjoyed his lemon meringue while I the blueberry which he also had some of. The weather was good and for once I had a great time shopping at Macy's. The gift bag was great and I definitely will be making some of those chicken recipes. Fishing for Rich was not good but he enjoyed just being on the lake and relaxing. Wishing you both a healthy and happy 2017. See you again next year.

Marian and Bob - Thank you so much for sharing your BEAUTIFUL lake house with us. Henry and Simon LOVED the loft! I adored the beach and Dave's favorite part was the dock! We had a great week swimming, kayaking, fishing, mini-golfing, go-cart driving, visiting the Maine Wildlife Park, and EATING more ice cream and seafood than I thought possible!! The Ice Cream Dugout was a huge hit - thanks for the recommendation!! Thank you also for the delicious lemon meringue pie, the SUPER yummy and still warm blueberry muffins and the very thoughtful hostess gift! Such thoughtful and touching gestures. So appreciated!! Thank you, Thank you!

August 6 - 20, 2016 Thank you, Marian and Bob, for another memorable stay at your beautiful cottage! We were lucky enough to spend almost every day on the beach, which was a perfect arrangement for our two daughters. The beach is incredibly peaceful, while being well-stocked for a two-and-one-half year old and four year-old to enjoy. Your hospitality is ALWAYS appreciated. It's something we've never experienced at a summer rental before. You manage to think of everything. Again, many thanks for making our family vacation such a pleasant one. We hope to see you next year! Fondly, Danielle, John, Amelia, and Caroline (Year #2!!!)

July 23, 2016 - I just wanted to thank you for the super week at your cottage! We had a great time! The lemon pie was awesome and didn't last long. My children, ages 12 and 5, had a blast and spent plenty of time in the water and on the beach! This was our first time renting a cottage and we were very surprised how well stocked it was. The hospitality gift was very nice as well! I enjoyed the beautiful flowers as well! We hope to visit again! Thank you again! Valacha and family

Marian and Bob,
Sorry we missed you on Friday. We stopped over around 7PM but no one was home. The boys and I came up Monday. This gave my parents a chance to visit up here this past weekend. Everything was wonderful as usual. Hope all is well with both of you. Take care and see you next year!!

This has been our fourth time coming to the lake house and we look forward to it every year! We love that this place is so close to the water so we can go swimming everyday. This cottage has a very home-like atmosphere which makes our time spent up here more comfortable, relaxed, and enjoyable! Thank you for allowing us to spend the week here (and thanks for the candies) and we look forward to possibly returning in the future!

Thank you for the wonderful stay! The house was cozy and the location couldn't be beat. The view is incredible. The hospitality was much appreciated and a wonderful surprise. My son loved the balloon and bear - toting them everywhere he went. The blueberry pie was delicious and we certainly enjoyed the chocolates - Our sincere thanks.
If anyone is traveling with a toddler and looking for an excellent rainy day activity we loved the Portland Children's Museum Theater. Our son didn't want to leave and a plus - as a mother with a child with F.A. - the food was kept downstairs so not through all the hands on activities.
The Maine Wildlife Park was also a joy.
This was the escape we needed.
Many thanks!

October 17 - 23, 2015
Bob and Marian - What a wonderful week on Sebago Lake!! Beautiful location and the cottage was wonderful. Had everything we needed to have a relaxing week.
Enjoyed visiting several local towns - Bridgton, Bath, Kennebunkport, and Brunswick. A highlight was the Bath Maritime Museum and a cruise on the Kennebeck River.
Thanks for a wonderful stay!

October 10 - 17, 2015
Bob and Marian - Thank you.
This beautiful cottage was our base for all activities while we were in Maine.

We made it a point ,though, to be back before dark.each day to enjoy the cottage and relax by the bay.

Beautiful weather all week. We enjoyed downtown Portland and took the mail run boat on Casco Bay. We enjoyed a "Foodie Tour" in the Old Port - a walking tour sampling food as we walked - wine and cheese, fish ,scones, spices - chocolate! We also rode to Cape Elizabeth (Fort Williams) the train in Conway, NH and toured Maine's capital, Augusta - great museum there. Enjoyed lobster (how to break and eat) at Georgetown' ME. Mabel's Lobster Claw in Kennebunkport, ME too! A busy, beautiful, colorful week.

August 26 - September 3, 2015

Dear Marian and Bob - Our week at the "cottage" was fantastic! We especially enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs, rocking and looking at the great view of Sebago Lake! Andy even threw a fishing line several times. The "cottage" is beautifully decorated and has everything a person needs - so comfortable and easy to relax. We took day trips all week and took many trips to Chipman's Farm Store and the Good Life Market. We also took your advice on Portland's Di Millo's floating ship restaurant for lunch and Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, ME. Rode to Mt. Washington in NH and took the auto road drive to the top - what an experience!! What can we say about the blueberry pie - absolutely delicious - and ice cream. It was really a treat!! The gift bag was so special and thoughtful. If we say any more, we will probably stay and not go home! Thank you so very much for your warm hospitality and kindness! God's Blessings, Wilma and Andy, South Carolina

August 29 - September 19, 2015

Dear Marian and Bob - What a delightful 3 weeks we had. The weather was great, a little hot on some days, but that was okay. Rich brought up the fact that this is our 7th year coming here. Where has the time gone? Rich enjoyed your lemon pie, but I am partial to your blueberry. The gift bag was lovely as usual. Loved the water color picture of the cottage hanging in the bunk room, which was painted by guest Linda. She captured it so well. Have a great holiday season and will look forward to seeing you both next year. Rich and Pat (Connecticut)

August 22 - 29, 2015
Dear Marian and Bob - It is obvious there is so much love, thoughtfulness, and artistry put into your charming, charming cottage.
We appreciate how clean and cozy everything was. The surprise of the luscious blueberry pie, ice cream, floral bouquet, and hostess gift were a lovely welcome. Thank you so very much. How grateful we are to be able to spend this week enjoying all the amazing fruits of your labor.
It was such a pleasure and delight meeting and chatting with you - you truly are hosts extraordinaire!
Again, a hearty thank you for your tremendous hospitality.
If you are ever in San Diego look us up.
Warmest regards,
Deb and Larry (California)

August 15 - 22, 2015
Now I totally understand why Bob said "Welcome to Paradise"! What a peaceful, wonderful week. The cottage was pristine. The blueberry pie and ice cream a real treat. The welcoming gift will be a souvenir to remind us of this spectacular place.
It was really great to unwind from our busy lives to enjoy the lake and each other. What a great way to reconnect!
Thank you so much for the hospitality and the perfect place to call home for the past week.
We will hopefully be back!
Tom, Linda, Sammi, and Grace (Connecticut)

August 1 - 8, 2015
For a family that doesn't get the chance to get away often, we could not have picked a more tranquil, beautiful spot.
Our two boys woke up to the peaceful sounds of the lake, bounded down to the dock and jumped in each morning. What a lovely way to spend a vacation.
Absolute therapy for the soul - Bob and Marian have provided all we could need. Thanks so much!
Bill, Dawn, Ethan, and Colin, Rhode Island

July 25th - August 1, 2015
I woke this morning, the mournful cry of the loons, the whispering of white pines, and the soft conversation between the water and the shore. The lake spirits talk to us - telling us their story - reminding us to slow down and notice nature.

Our stay here was all that and more. The cottage was lovely, comfortable, and clean. Your gardens spectacular.
Our walk included a hike to Holt Pond, a trip to the Old Port, Higgins Beach where we played in the tidal pools and dodged tern squawking at us.

These trips to Maine also bring our family together to enjoy this beautiful vacation state. It's like therapy for the soul.

We were graciously welcomed with a gift, some wonderful pie and ice cream, and two perfect hosts.Bob and Marian, we cannot thank you enough for our amazing week here. Filled with kayak trips, good food, and rejuvenating swims. It's a week we look forward to each year.

The loon cries will echo in our heads until we once again return to this lake. It is magic!

Bob, Susan, Caitlyn, Nikki, and Simon

July 4 - 11, 2015
Dear Bob and Marian,
We are so thankful we found your cottage on Lake Sebago. After a week long family reunion in Massachusetts this was just what our family of four needed to relax and get some quality time together. We couldn't have asked for better weather and the lake temperature was on spot. Our barely 3 year old son had the time of his life spending nearly every day and all; day in the water or making sand pies. The pie that Marian made must have left quite a mark on his taste buds. The pie was fantastic. Thank you so much. We were able to do a few day trips as well, some short and some long. Our son is a train fan so we went to Booth bay Train Museum and had lunch at the harbor one day, and spent the day in Portland with a trip to Peaks Island on another day. Your cottage is a really special place. The grounds and the flowers are really beautiful. and it was such a treat to spend the week at a place that is so well cared for. Thank you so much for the welcome gifts and the home made pie. It was a really thoughtful touch. Shaker Village was also a pretty special drive through once I read about the last Shakers in the world.
Take care,
The "S" Family, Portland, OR

May 30 - June 13, 2015
Dear Marian and Bob,
I sincerely enjoyed my stay at your cottage. Every thing I needed was here. The peaceful and quiet nights. The beautiful gardens and birds. I wish to return. Thank you for the home made blueberry pie and ice cream. YUM! Also blueberry muffins one morning, perfect. Grand children loved it. Many thanks, Norma, Santa Clara, CA

June 13 - 20, 2015
Maine was once again reminiscent of the lazy days of my childhood. Day trips to the Portland Head Light, and White Mountains complimented the quiet days on the lake. Your cottage will remain part of my children's vacation memories - rowing on the lake, paddle boats, and sand castles. Thank you for the wonderful amenities and delicious blueberry pie. All the best, Joann, Cleveland, OH

May 16 - 23, 2015
Marian and Bob - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your cozy cottage. The amenities you provide surpass any we have experienced in the 30 years we've been renting cottages in Maine.
And the biggest surprise of all - "Bob's" homemade blueberry pie and ice cream in the fridge and a welcoming gift of cutting boards.

Thank you,

Don and Nancy W. (Connecticut).

September 20 - October 4, 2014
Marian and Bob - Thank you for making this heavenly secluded spot so perfect. It is like "On Golden Pond" , even with loons on the lake. We enjoyed so many sunny days sitting by the lake, as well as watching the foliage grow more colorful each day as we drove around the area. We enjoyed fresh steamed lobster three times - Hannaford's is a great place to get whatever size you want. Had delicious sweet Italian sausage from the butcher next to the laundromat. Ate haddock chowder and sweet treats and great quiche from Chipman's (farm) as well as sandwiches from the Good Life Market. Ate twice at Black Bear Tavern in Naples - great Shepherd's Pie - and a good steak at Rustlers. Loved the play in Oqunquit (playhouse), the Portland Museum of Art, and shopping in Freeport.

One of our most unique memories will be the sound of acorns falling on the roof! This cottage is homey and fully equipped. You have thought of everything including pie and wine! Thank you to both of you. John and Priscilla - Texas

August 30 - September 20, 2014
Marian and Bob: Well, another summer has come and gone. As in the past years we have had a delightful time. The weather was great and the fishing for Rich was outstanding. The pie was delicious and the gift lovely. Looking forward to next year already. Have a great holiday season as well as good health. See you both next year. Rich and Pat - Connecticut

August 23 - 30, 2014
Dear Bob and Marian - Once again we've had a wonderful vacation here on Sebago Lake. How many years has it been? 15? And, now, since we have moved to Maine , we won't be back, but we'll still often as possible. Thanks, as always, for the great pie and ice cream, and the lovely cottage and amenities. We love it. All the best and see you next summer - We'll drop by - Carolyn P.

Although this was our last time as regular guests, the perfect weather made it a fabulous week. Thanks for everything. We'll always think and dream about this cottage! All the best to the both of you - Paul V.

August 16 - 23, 2014
Thank you so much for offering your cottage for our summer vacation. The beach, grassy yard, and deck are fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the views and peaceful surroundings. Your hospitality certainly didn't go unnoticed. You treated us like friends, and for that we thank you. Fondly, Danielle, John, and family - Massachusetts

August 9 - 16, 2014
Marian and Bob - Thank you so much again for our super week in your cottage. Always looked forward to and remembered all the year after. As we told Bob, our first paddle in the canoe is always around Shively's Point to be sure my parents' place is in good order not wanting our youthful days to completely disappear (smile face) I guess. Time moves on but our stay here is never changing from welcoming bouquet, yummy dessert in the refrigerator, and a special gift - all with our special thanks. As always we walked our remembered walks and paddled the shores we used to ski by, not to mention the afternoons of having nothing we had to do. Pure luxury - and very much appreciated and enjoyed. Until next year - Lorraine and Ted, Massachusetts

August 2 - 9, 2014
Bob and Marian - We had a great week and thank you for your hospitality. Your cottage and grounds are so well maintained and the location is perfect. Our kids loved their first visit to Maine and we hope to be back every summer in the coming years. You have a great place but the hospitality and maintenance make it even more special. We hope to see you again next summer. Dave, Alexia, and family. Rhode Island

July 26 - August 1, 2014
Dear Marian and Bob - Just wanted to express our thanks for all of the hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home and part of that was due to meeting you both. The whole family enjoyed the lake and we took the canoe out every day. We know that the girls will always remember this lake house and all of the fun we have had here. All the best, Christine, Chris, Grace, and Emily S.

July 19 - 26, 2014
We have thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful retreat here at this lovely cottage. The hospitality was top-notch. Thank you ever so much for the pristine clean home, the yummy lemon-meringue pie, and the spa treat! We enjoyed the view, swimming, biking, and boating most of all. We will enjoy future opportunities to stay at this amazing cottage. Happy summer and all the best. Andrew, Heather, Adam, Emily, and Jonathan

July 5 - 12, 2014
Dear Marian and Bob - We are so sad to head back home tomorrow after such a wonderful week staying at your lovely cottage! The grounds couldn't be more perfect. We thank you for the delicious pie and ice cream and for the gift - such a nice surprise when we arrived, If only we could spend all summer! From all of us, thank you for everything and we hope to be back again next year! The "T" family

June 28 - July 5, 2014
Marian and Bob - Walking on to the grounds and into the cottage feels like entering a four-star resort! Our every need was anticipated! We could not have found a more beautiful yard or beach - sandy and private. Listening to the birds sing while relaxing in the cushioned lounge chairs was a pleasure I won't forget. Having the chance to canoe with my daughter was so much fun! Our first trip to Sebago has been very special. Thank you for your many "kindnesses". Colleen and Sharon - Maine

Marian and Bob - Thank you for the wonderful hospitality you provide, in such a beautiful place. We have enjoyed being here again this year, and of course look to be back next year!! Though we were busy, we were still able to get out and enjoy the water, walk and go hiking, and my favorite...sit down front in the mornings with coffee and relax while watching the birds, geese, ducks (along with the little ducklings) and butterflies. You truly have a blessed area/location. One that brings peace to all. Thank you as well for the fabulous pie and ice cream. along with the muffins. You all truly spoil us!!! Take care.

Another memorable and enjoyable week - no, perfect is more accurate - in your lovely cottage again this year. It always makes Sebago feel like it's still our vacation home again - good memories brought back and good times again - feel good "stuff" all 'round.
Also, can't thank you both enough for all your special touches - garden flowers inside and out, apple pie, ice cream, and your hostess package to bring our stay to mind all through the winter months. All good wishes for a restful and happy end to your summer. The Sebago calendar and pictures will remind us each day!
Best wishes,
Lorraine and Ted, Massachusetts

How many years has it been?.... 12 - 13? We love coming here every summer and dream about it all winter! Even with this summer's up and down weather, it's been wonderful here, as usual. Your cottage is great and we hope to return again next summer. Thanks, too, for the delicious blueberry pie and ice cream - we loved them. Have a great rest-of-summer and the winter! Thank you for your hospitality and thoughtful amenities which have made this an ideal stay. Carolyn and Paul, Chicago

Bob and Marian,
Thank you very much for sharing your lovely cottage with us. The cottage is simply beautiful inside and out. Inside, every little detail has been taken care of which allows the cottage to feel like home. Outside, all the beautiful gardens only add to the wonderful beach and lake-view the cottage has. We also appreciate the honeymoon/ wedding gift, pie and ice cream that helped in making our honeymoon perfect. Thanks again,
Tim and Anne, New Jersey

Bob and Marian - Thank you for your generous hospitality in allowing us to enjoy and relax at your lovely cottage. You have such a beautiful location, and all that you've done on the grounds just makes one want to stay forever. I love your perennial gardens, and wish to say thank you for allowing me to work in them a little. It is so peaceful and relaxing, just to hear the birds and watch the humming birds go from one flower to another. We also feel very blessed to have been able to stay the second week - it was just what we needed. Also, thank you for the fabulous pie and ice cream, as well as your welcome gift for us! You spoil us all!! We are grateful we had the opportunity to come and we look forward to future years ahead. It was nice meeting you both and enjoyed our conversations. You are both gracious and dear people. Fondly, Jason & Karen, Maine

Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your cottage! The house is cozy and inviting, the grounds are spacious, and the lake is peaceful and beautiful. The graduation cake, album, and card were very nice and warmed my heart. This is our first vacation in Maine, but probably not our last. We hope to come back to your cottage soon.

Dear Marian and Bob - This was just the perfect retreat at your lovely lake front cottage. Your warm welcome and generous hospitality was greatly appreciated. The cottage is darling, so well equipped and comfortable in everyway. Loved the blueberry pie and ice cream too! The weather was amazing and let me enjoy the last "hoorah" of summer before (Hurricane) Sandy! Best wishes with appreciation,

Dear Marian and Bob, - Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage. We had a wonderful relaxing week, starting with the Fryeburg Fair, then Acadia, Ogunquit, and finally the White Mountains. We had the perfect place to return to each day. The view of the lake which is seen through most of the windows was amazing. The perfect place to read and just settle in. Thank you for the many gifts and surprises! The pie, ice cream, pillow, apple butter, and fresh flowers throughout the cottage made us feel so welcome and special! It is going to be hard to leave. Thank you again! - Tom and Marie, Pittsburgh, PA

We really enjoyed the short time we were here. Unfortunately, Hurricane "Irene" had her own plans. Thank you so much for your hospitality, the flowers, delicious pie, etc. Hopefully, we'll meet again. Doris and John
Owners' note - We had John and Doris back later in the 2011 summer to complete their vacation. They were pleased because it was their wedding anniversary. Marian and Bob

Thank you once again for your hospitality (the pie and ice cream - hostess gift were perfect). We enjoyed a relaxing, wonderful week on the lake and look forward to coming again next year. Fondly, The "C" family.

What a pleasure! Another lovely week - your perfect cottage filled with special thoughtfulness - fresh-cut flowers, apple pie a-la-mode - even muffins for breakfast - and a hostess gift that will remind us of Sebago Lake all winter long. Good thought about the loons at our beach - but by the time the camera was in hand , we literally could see only the wakes they left behind as they swam out of sight. Already looking forward to next year. LP and TP

Three glorious weeks! It went by so fast. The lake was warm, the wearher great, and as usual, the cottage was perfect. It will be hard to get back to work. Thanks for everything. C.R.

Email just received - Thank you again for everything you do for us renters! It's the icing on the cake (oh in this case, it's the ice cream on the berry pie!). The Robacks, CT

Thank you for sharing your bit of paradise. We had an amazing time. The view is breath taking, gardens exquisite, and the yard is perfect for the kids to get their energy out! See you next year! The Zimmermans
P.S. Thanks for the pie & ice cream _ we arrived on Father's day so it was a perfect surprise.

We flew all the way across the country (California) to visit your beautiful cottage and lake, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The cottage and even beach were immaculate upon our arrival. Every possible creature comfort was here, from an ice cream scoop to sand toys to extra pillows. The garden was a very nice touch, as were the cushioned rocking chairs by the water. What a lovely, relaxing, idyllic place...totally worth the trip! Thank you for your hospitality, The Medley family
P.S. Our kids are ready to move in due to the "kids' loft". What a perfect fort for the kids to enjoy!
P.P.S. Thank you for the pie and ice cream!!

Thank you so very much for renting to us. My husband searched the internet looking for the perfect place for this very much needed getaway! He got an A++! When we pulled into the driveway my breath was taken away - what a jewel you have here. The cottage is adorable and my husband's favorite pie and vanilla ice cream is his favorite as well. Saturday morning at 0715 we were out on the lake in the canoe for 2 hours! We did some sight seeing - went to Bath, ME and ate at "Red's eats" in Wiscassett, ME. P.S. Thank you for the gift! How thoughtful. We hope to come back for a week next year. P.S.S. Forgot to mention how lucky we were that the weather was perfect.

Summer 2008 -
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Wright,
My Goodness! Your cottage is really a treasured spot. I can see why people keep coming back.
Thank you for the welcoming gifts. The spa gift, ice cream, and the pie! Delish! We love blueberries - Jim use to pick them as a Summer job (he said he ate most of them). The pie crust was so flaky, I'd love to have the recipe. Thank you for sharing "Paradise" with us. We'd love to come back. Warmly, Noel and Jim PS - Loved the flowers - inside and out.
