About the area

This is the heart of the laurel mountains. There is so much to do, you will never be bored. There are numerous golf courses nearby. You are within a few miles to both Hidden Valley and Seven Springs resorts. Idlewild Amusement Park is a short 20 minute drive. There is also Living Treasures animal park and the Caddy Shack go cart within a 10 minute drive. There are beaches for swimming and some of the best fishing areas around. Falling Timber sits on the border of Forbes State Forest, so just walk out the door and you are practically on the hiking and biking trails. There is also a great possibility you may encounter some beautiful wildlife right from the yard. It is a very private location, so if you decide to just hang around the cabin and lounge in the yard you will be extremely pleased.

Getting around

You would need a car to travel to most scenic tourist spots. But this cabin is within walking distance to the Forbes state forest. So you could just walk, cross country ski, bike to venture through the park.

Getting here

Somerset is the closet city for people to get groceries. But cogos gas station as some supplies for a few last minute missing items. Round about driveway. Please park in property as the road leading to is shared.

“Anniversary Getaway”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2015

My husband and I rented this place for a weekend for our one year anniversary, and it was great. Very relaxing! October was a great time to rent this place, the leaves were beautiful, the fireplace kept us warm, and we were just minutes away from Oktoberfest at seven springs! We will certainly be back.

“Had a great time!”

If you are looking for a rustic/remote location, this is the place! We felt this was a great location for peace and quiet, but know you can make some noise and no one will care! Great hiking right outside the property. Beautiful outdoor area with firepit and chairs, wood is provided at no cost. Outside hot tub probably needed to be drained and cleaned, we didn't use, water was a bit cloudy. Inside was not the Taj Mahal, but had all the conveniences of home and then some. We had 7 adults and four children and we were very comfortable with the space. The bathroom sufficed and the hot water supply was not an issue. Cable had a little to be desired as the guys wanted to watch football, but that just meant more family time! Flight 93 Memorial was just 1/2 hour away if interested. We were all disappointed we didn't get to see the bears that check out the garbage cans in the evenings, but I guess that was OK, too! Everyone agreed this was a good place for a weekend get-away and might be worth visiting again!

“Beautiful Vacation Home”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2014

We had a great time staying at this beautiful vacation home located in Seven Springs. Plenty of sleeping space, lots of good movies for your viewing. Working appliances and great space for campfires and horseshoes. The family loved the hot tub, very enjoyable. We were able to bring our dog which was a plus and she and my husband loved the daily walks in the trails. Great location from restaurants and things to do. Would definitely go back there again.

“Stone Clif”

Place was warm and welcoming. great for my family and kids to spend days skiing and afternoons, evening in front of the fireplace.

“Quiet and Relaxing”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2013

Lots of positives and very few negatives. Outside of the normal few spiders and snakes that found their way into the house upon arrival, everything was wonderful. Fully stocked kitchen and lots of living space. We did not get a chance to use the hot tub, but it surely looked nice. There were many parks within driving range. We enjoyed a very easy transition of arrival and departure. I would recommend this place if you were looking to get away from the city and to enjoy the nature around you.

My family and I stayed for a week during the World Archery Festival at Seven Springs Resort. The house was sufficient, and big enough to sleep 6 comfortably. My impression was that cleaning of the house is the responsibility of the guests checking out, and I have to admit we had to clean up a bit when we first arrived in order to feel comfortable. Overall, the house was sufficient and had a secluded charm. We really enjoyed having a fire at night and would consider staying again.

“falling timbers/ mountain view”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2012

originally rented falling timbers but previous tennant left in a mess, krista was able to solve the problem by upgrading us to mountain view which was more than big enough and a great place to stay. the only reason was not 5 start is wood for fireplace was wet, but was still able to use it. could be remedied by bringing some in a few nights before needing it. other than that it is very quiet and a great place for to stay if you have kids( plenty of room).

“Rural retreat”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2011

We all greatly enjoyed our stay at Reeds Falling Timbers. Very rural, a great escape from city life. A short 15 minute drive from the nearest gas station. Really enjoyed the back deck where we watched chipmunks and sun bathed. Great fire pit for those who enjoy camp fires. Missed not seeing the bear. Plan to revisit!!!

“Really cozy”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2010

We were absolutely delighted with this cozy space! It was just the right amount of space to spend good time with family and friends. There was also plenty of room to explore in the yard and have bonfires. A gem!
