Description of the Sevierville vacation cabin rental
Shaconage Lodge (Sha·KON·a·hey) is Cherokee for "Land of Blue Smoke" and the name says it all. From the upper and lower decks you can readily see why the Cherokee came to name the Great Smoky Mountains as Shaconage and the reason why we chose it for our lodge.

From our decks you can peer into the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Both Mt LeConte and Clingman's Dome are easily visible. During winter months the lights of Pigeon Forge light up the night sky and provide a beautiful display of color and movement.

We hope you will consider spending your vacation with us and want to thank you for taking time to explore our 5 bedroom 4.5 bath luxury lodge that sleeps 14 very comfortably.

This exquisite cabin includes 4 master suites all with adjoining bathrooms that include private Jacuzzi tubs and showers. Three of the suites have king beds while the fourth suite and 5th bedroom have queen beds. All beds have pillow top mattresses for the most luxurious sleep you can imagine.

The kitchen is fully stocked with baking and cooking utensils as well as a dish washer and ice maker to simply your life. The cabin is family friendly with different zones for different activities and of course flat screen HDTVs in every room. Our driveway and turnaround area can easily park 8 vehicles so no need to park along a crowded street and walk a long way. The hot tub seats 6 and is to die for after a fun filled day.

When entering our lodge you will immediately feel engulfed by nature. The expansive walls of glass open up the home to the impressive views of the distant mountains and immediate woodlands. The main floor houses the living room with 50" flat screen High Definition HDTV, year round romantic gas fireplace (we do not restrict its usage to certain times of year as most rentals do - so please enjoy), dining room, kitchen and two king master suites. The leather furniture, comfortable and inviting, mixed with the warmth and charm of yesteryear antique decorations will help you immediately feel like you have arrived home.

The open kitchen allows interaction with the rest of the family during meal preparation. There is an in-door fridge ice maker and filtered water, pots, pans, baking goods, blender, food processor, coffee maker, plastic storage bowls, etc. and of course place settings for 18. We even include spices, aluminum foil and cellophane wrap, tea and starter coffee with filters.

The loft, containing the 5th bedroom is open yet semi-private and has the added benefit of providing the best view in the house all while lying in bed. On a sunny day one can see 50 miles or more across the mountain ranges. The loft also contains a half bath, full size air hockey table, sitting area with queen sofa sleeper and 32" flat screen HDTV. The loft overlooks the main floor and truly provides the most spectacular views of both the Smoky Mountains and Pigeon Forge around.

The basement contains the other two master suites, one king and one queen. The game room offers another queen size sofa sleeper along with a regulation size pool table, 55" flat screen HDTV, Blue-Ray DVD player and Wii game with 4 controls. There is also a utility room with full sized washer and dryer and we even include the detergent and dryer sheets for your convenience. You will find the iron and ironing board there also.

Our cabin is wired with digital cable TV and each TV (7 in all) is equipped with true HD channel boxes, for the ultimate in your viewing enjoyment and a DVD player for any movie buffs. Speaking of movies, there's the Starz Movie network channels for free movies 24/7. For those who feel the need for speed and connectivity to the outside world, the house has high speed Wi-Fi Internet with excellent reception from everywhere inside the lodge not to mention anywhere on the property including the decks. Its password protected to ensure you have maximum bandwidth for your personal use.

The lower deck, off the game room contains the 6 person hot tub and plenty of rocking chairs to rock away the hours. The upper deck has a nice pub style table and chairs just perfect for eating outdoors or that relaxing morning cup of coffee. Mornings are our favorite time on the upper deck, just sitting and taking in the peace and solitude and watching the squirrels jumping from tree to tree. It makes our morning cup of coffee feel like so much more. In addition, there are more rocking chairs and benches for your relaxing enjoyment.

Each Jacuzzi tub comes with a sampling of AMBR spa bath salts, bubble bath, shampoo and conditioner, just in case you forgot some of the essentials. Please feel free to indulge yourself and let the relaxing jets carry your cares away. The bath salts are an especially inviting treat that we hope you will enjoy.

You will be mesmerized by the views of both Mt LeConte and Clingman's Dome. The cabin sits atop Panther Knob on a heavily wooded one acre lot so you feel secluded while sitting out on either deck. We are close enough to Dollywood (approx. 2 miles) that you can hear the train whistle inside the home. Being centrally located, Pigeon Forge is only 15 minutes away and you can take back roads to Sevierville and Gatlinburg bypassing all the heavy traffic. During winter months you can watch amazing sunsets through the barren trees.

There is wildlife all around on this mountain. On any given day you can see wild turkey, squirrels, raccoons and of course bears. Most nights you can turn off the interior lights and leave the upper deck porch lights on and be greeted to an entertaining and comical show of a mother raccoon and her very inquisitive 3 babies. We strongly advise against feeding them or harassing them in any way as they are wild creatures. Then there is the mamma bear and her 3 cubs that also frequent our home. No need to travel all the way to Cades Cove to see wildlife.

If you are seeking a cabin filled with luxurious amenities, close to all the action that the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge areas have to offer then we invite you to check us out. We would be honored to have you vacation in our home and feel the peace and quiet that we love to enjoy.

Dad's 60th birthday celebration

We had a wonderful time celebrating my dad's 60th birthday at the Shaconage Lodge! We had all ages at the cabin from 2-70 and everyone loved it. The view from the deck was spectacular! The cabin was comfortable, clean and spacious enough to fit our party of 14.

This cabin is gorgeous and very well maintained. My husband and I, and our 3 boys spent Thanksgiving week at Shaconage Lodge, and loved every minute spent! The trip was even more perfect with a surprise visit for a couple days from our daughter in college. The furnishings are upscale, and very comfortable. The view of the mountains is breathtaking. In fact, a family from a cabin down the road asked us one morning if they could stand on the balcony to get a picture with the mountains in the background. The owners were wonderful and most accomodating. There was a plate of various types of fudge upon our arrival, and then had a platter of homemade cookies and candies delivered to us mid-week from them. Many thanks Jerry and Lu for a most memorable week spent with our family!

I could just say ditto to all the wonderful remarks in the other review of this beautiful mountain lodge. The views are absolutely gorgeous. My daughter in law got fantastic photos off the porch. The home was beautifully decorated, comfortable, and accomodating for our extended family of ten. We played games, watched football, ate together at the lovely, large table and just had the best time ever. Jerry and Lu are great hosts, and their vacation home is full of luxury hotel touches...fluffy towels, toiletries, comfortable mattresses, spotless bathrooms and a kitchen set up to prepare and serve meals. Their movie library and assortment of games was impressive. I would highly recommend these accomodations to anyone. This has been great experience for our family.

When I first arrived I was in awe. The outside was beautiful and the view was breath taking. You could see the Smokey Mountains and all that was in the surrounding area. Then inside was a home away from home. It was clean and ready for us to move in. It came with a full kitchen and living area. The hot tub was great to have even during a cool night and then relax by watching a movie and with TV's in every room I didn't have to go to just place. I recommend this place for anyone and everyone looking to have a relaxing get way in the Mountains.
