Description of the Silverthorne vacation cabin rental
This property has a true log cabin, on a grand scale, at 8900 feet above sea level.The top floor boasts picture windows facing the Gore Range. The wood-burning stove generously heats that level. A propane furnace provides heat for the whole house. The living room has several couches and a sky chair. Ceilings are vaulted.The dining table seats 10 people. The kitchen is large and well-equipped, with counter space for preparing sizable meals.
There are four bedrooms on the second floor, sleeping eight(2 queens,1 double, 2 singles that combine to make double,plus a pullout couch in the living room.
This is a kid-friendly property equipped with toys, books, movies, entertainment system with satellite radio, and a ping pong table. Well behaved pets are welcome.
A large solar system provides most of the heat and hot water, with a reduced carbon footprint.There is propane and electricity for the utilities. Laundry facilities available if needed.The deck wraps around 2/3 of the house for sunbathing, bird watching, sunrise and sunset. There are gas and charcoal grills, and picnic table. A fire pit and table are just below the cabin for cookouts.

Area Information
From your hammocks on the deck you can view the Gore Range, Eagle's Nest, Green Mountain Reservoir, and the Williams Fork Range. Deer, elk and fox are common visitors. Nightfall brings stargazing and occasional coyote chorus. Songbirds, hummingbirds, eagles and hawks are often seen.
In summer, Lower Cataract Lake is a short hike or drive away. A number of trail heads begin in the area for day hikes. The wildflowers are spectacular in the spring and summer, and the Cataract itself is worth exploration.
In winter, the cabin's location is ideal for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and excellent sledding. alpine skiing and snowboarding are available at Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, and A-basin are within an hour, Vail, Steamboat Springs, and Winter Park are about two hours away.
There is Gold Medal fishing water on the Colorado and Blue Rivers, and belly-boating on Cataract Lake.
The cabin is surrounded by aspens, so the fall is an exceptional time to visit. Access to various wilderness areas is easy for sportsmen looking for a comfortable base.
The location is serene and private, on 35 acres. a wonderful escape from the pace of daily life.
