Description of the Small Point vacation cottage rental
Wake to the sound of waves, watch seabirds diving into Conception bay while you drink coffee in bed - perhaps even spot a few whales or an iceberg just off the point.

The Cox House is located in the small community of Blackhead along The Baccalieu trail in Conception Bay North. This area of Newfoundland is remarkably similar to Scotland or Ireland heath moors on coastal hillsides and craggy cliffs jutting down to the sea. For photography buffs there are amazing vistas at every turn.

Hike along the coast and find a seabird nesting area or venture up one of the many woodland trails to and old train trestle. A short 9km drive and you can be walking the broad expanse of sandy beach at Northern Bay Sands provincial park.

The Cox House has maintained much of its traditional character while still providing all the modern comforts you expect on holiday. There are 2 bedrooms with double beds and a pull out sofa bed if needed . If you consider a pet part of your travelling family we welcome them too! Fully equipped with linens, kitchenware, barbeque, tv/dvd/vhs, games, Newfoundland books, and even an ecclectic old LP collection to take you back in time.

Area Information
The Cox House is located along the Baccalieu Trail on the Avalon peninsula of Newfoundland. Just 90 minutes from St. John's airport and the same from Argentia ferry, this location offers rural relaxation within easy access of the attractions of the city.

Watch whales right from your bed, hike the coastline to a seabird nesting area, relax under the stars around a toasty firepit, or take a relaxing dip in a freshwater stream.

At the tip of the peninsula is the world famous Baccalieu Island Bird Sanctuary - nesting ground for North America 's largest colony of Leach 's Storm Petrels. Seabirds such as Northern Gannets, Black Guillemots, Sea Pigeons, Puffins are just some of the many feathered friends that make Conception Bay North home during the summer.

There are numerous coastal hiking trails - remnants of the roads from communities long since gone. Inland the former railway line has been maintained as a recreational trail.
