“Comfortable, cozy stay in amazing location”
Our stay in Mary's cottage was wonderful in every way. The cottage was clean, well-equipped, and truly a peaceful retreat. It's also well situated, nestled between Southwest Harbor's downtown and the Bass Harbor lighthouse and just a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia trails. Mary was easy to contact, responsive, and flexible and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. I have no reservations about recommending the cottage to anyone traveling to Mount Desert Island and would definitely stay their again!
“Super clean house, very nice owner”
This was the absolute cleanest rental cottage we have ever stayed in, very comfortable and well-equipped. It is a 3 minute drive to Southwest Harbor and about the same to Thurston's Lobster Pound - super lobster dinners. Mary is a gem, she was easy to contact for payment and responsive throughout. There are hiking trails not far away and Echo Lake nearby for warm water swimming. Lovely week.
“A great cabin near Bass Harbor light”
Our family of four stayed at this two bedroom cabin in August. The accomodations were perfect (larger than what it would appear in the photos) and the owner, Mary, was very helpful. A gas grill outside is provided in case you decide to cook that way. But the kitchen is large and due to the layout, more than one person can work there wihout issue. The two twin beds were ideal for the kids. The sofa, as I recall, was also a pullout bed but we had no need to use it for sleeping. The location of the cabin is on the less traveled part of Acadia National Park and that was a definate plus as it was relaxing and peaceful (Isn't that why we go away on vacation anyway - to get away from the stress and hustle & bustle of our everyday lives?) Bar Harbor is a great town but very busy in the summer. From the cabin, you can get there in about 20 minutes. Bass Harbor lighthouse is a must see and it is just a four minute drive away (coupled with a short hike down to the rocks below). As an added bonus, Mary's husband is a losterman so if you like lobster, you are in luck. He can deliver them right to your door at wholesale prices. The lobster's are certainly delicious and they are as fresh as you will evr get. Our family is traveling internationally next year but we will be returning in 2014. The whole family had a wonderful time. It sure beats the theme parks of Orlando! Oh, it was my first time to Maine and I love it there!
“Wonderful cottage in quiet part of MDI”
The cottage is tucked away on a residential street in Bass Harbor, a quiet but beautiful part of the island near Bass Light and Wonderful (both worth checking out!). It was neat and clean and perfect for our family of 4. It made life so easy that linens were provided; we also made use of the games and books there as well. The owner could not have been nicer! She was extremely helpful and thoughtful. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to going back next year!
“Fanstastic Place...and wonderful owners!!”
Mary, the owner, could not be more accommodating! We stayed with two adults and 3 kids, and had plenty of room. The house is in a great location, near Wonderland tide pools and the lighthouse. And a quick drive to Jordan's pond. The house is fully equipped. Mary, when she heard we planned to rent a bike..took out some bikes of hers and filled the tires for us..and even helped us transport them to the ferry! Just lovely people and a cute, comfy, clean house. I have already recommended to many friends for their next trip to Acadia! Thanks Mary and hope to come again for a visit!
