Description from owner

Seal Cove Cabins are located in the heart of the most relaxing place on earth, the 'Quiet Side' of Mount Desert Island. Nestled just off the main Road (Route 102) near Hodgdon Pond, where you will have access to the Pond to enjoy a peaceful day out in the canoe or kayak which is provided, yet close enough to all the amenities of Mount Desert Island. Walk to Pretty Marsh Picnic Area to watch the sunset. Bike through Acadia National Park. We are about 3m. Long Pond, 5m. Southwest Harbor, 6m. Somesville,12m. Bar Harbor. We have a cozy 2 bedroom cabin with a loft that sleeps 7. The cabin is furnished with all that you would ever need including: screened in porch with table, chairs, washer & dryer, linens, towels, dishes, and pots & pans. Also we provide: books, games, videos, TV & VCR, phones, electric heat.

The cabin, Maple Leaf, has a double bed in the Loft/w (roll-away bed) Also a gas fireplace! (cozy for the Fall weather!)

About the area

The scenic tour to do by car: First stop: Bernard -one of the most scenic fishing villages, with it's many Lobster boats and Lobster traps along the wharf. Check out Thurston's Lobster Pound for a bite to eat -The view is spectacular. After lunch: Head to Bass Harbor which is the opposite side of Bernard and also very picturesque, Here you can catch the Swans Island Ferry. Seafood Ketch is a great place for breakfast or dinner. Also 'Mainely Delight' is one of my favorite places, known for it's 'Dough Boys' and beautiful Sunsets. From there head up the hill to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse, one of the most photographed lighthouses in all of New England. As you leave the lighthouse, travel around to Seawall Beach, a great place for a picnic, walk along the beautiful coastline, feed the seagulls, or just sit and enjoy life! From there you will enter into Southwest Harbor, where you will find gift shops, coffee shops, book store & the ice cream shop next to the park.

“Great Cottage”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2016

Great cottage to serve as a headquarters to a Mount Desert Island vacation. Kept real clean. Nice balcony for BBQ and cozy coffee in the morning. Two minutes to Pretty Marsh (Acadia National Park), a great place to view the sunset. I would give it 5 stars if the price was lower. I can rent a waterfront cottage for under 1000$ for a week in many great places in Canada. But the whole area of Mount Desert Island has expensive accommodations. Thank you Dave and Shirley for a great stay at your cottage!

“Comfortable home - everything we needed”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2015

We rented the 3BR Cedar Ridge cabin and had a great stay. The house has a full kitchen and full laundry, which made it easy to enjoy dinners in after a day touring the island (and enjoying lunch out). Everything was very clean and comfortable, and Dave and Shirley were great to work with. At about 90 minutes from U Maine, it was a great place to bring our son for a break from college. Tons to do in the area, with sunset along nearby Cape Rd. a nightly "must." We will be back!
