Description of the Spoleto vacation home rental
This unique tower home is nestled in the sacred woods of Monteluco amidst a grove of olive and fruit trees, yet a 15-minute walk across the romantic foot bridge leading to the castle of Spoleto brings you to the historic center of the town. The large private property is yours to enjoy quiet sunsets and sunny breakfasts. Explore the town on foot during the day or the famous hill towns of Umbria by car. The ground floor has a comfortable living room with exquisite views, an extensive library and a working fireplace, the kitchen has all appliances, another fireplace for cooking, a large table and windows opening out onto the vine-shaded dining terrace at the front of the house. The second full bathroom with washing machine and dryer is also located on the ground floor. Downstairs is the master bedroom with en-suite bath with tub/shower and doors leading out to a stone-flagged terrace and the stone steps leading off the property and to the walking path to town. Upstairs is a sleeping loft with two single beds, open to but quite private from the living room below. A few steps outside is the spa area built into the old washhouse with hot tub and cold shower surrounded by plantings of rosemary and lavender. There are additional sunning terraces, pergolas and more tables and chairs, all well-tended by our gardener. The steep driveway has just been paved and leads to a shaded parking spot. Wifi of course. Because of the steep steps the house is not recommended for small children or those with limited mobility.

Area Information
Spoleto, home of the Festival of Two Worlds, also has many excellent museums and a full calendar of cultural events such as Vini nel Mondo, the Stagione del Lirico Sperimentale and Estate Spoletina. Many restaurants are within walking distance of the house with everything from traditional Umbrian cuisine, to contemporary Italian and vegetarian offerings, almost all featuring the best of locally sourced ingredients. Try the Caffe Literaria at the beatifully restored Palazzo housing the library for a coffee stop, catch the last of the local market gardeners in the morning in Piazza del Mercato, see a concert at Casa Menotti on the Piazza del Duomo. Montefalco, home to world-class wines and a lovely museum is nearby as are Trevi, Spello, Assisi, and Perugia with its Jazz and Chocolate Festivals. See the roman ruins in Carsulae and the towns of Todi and Orvieto a little further west. Lovers of nature will enjoy the walking trails up Monteluco, the biking path to Assisi or an exploration of the Valnerina with its hidden treasures just over the hill.
