We stayed at the Royale Roost for 10 days. It had everything we needed. The kitchen was well supplied with what we needed. The whole place was cosy. When you walked out of front door you had a beautiful view of Witless Bay. But to cap it all Judy was the perfect host.Keep it up you have a winner there.

Myself & 2 of my girl friends stayed here for a week at the end of August & absolutely loved it! It was so cozy, had everything we needed & Judith was so helpful, caring & accommodating. It's right on the ocean so we sat out on the chairs she had set up by the fire pit looking out at the bay every morning while having our coffee. So beautiful & relaxing. The kitchen is stocked with all the dishes, pots, pans, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, full stove & fridge, really everything we needed. The washer & dryer were nice to have so we toss in a load mid-week, the beds were comfortable & there were extra blankets in case we got chilly & the fireplace in the livingroom was nice for the evenings we curled up in the comfy furniture to read our books, plan our next day's activities or just talk. It's only a 1/2 hour drive to St John's and there are lots of neat things to check out within a short drive. Mickeleen's trail starts just up the road & the lower pond beach is a 2min walk & it's where the Puffin patrol release the rescued puffins every morning. We absolutely loved this place & would not only recommend it but will likely be back to stay again in the future.

A Home Away from Home!

During our two-week visit to Newfoundland, we stayed in several places, but the Royle Roost was by far our favourite. We stayed for a week with our two sons, one a teenager, and the other a young twenty something. When looking for places to stay near St. John's we found it difficult to find something that suited a family with older children, at a reasonable price. The Royle Roost certainly fit the bill. We arrived in Newfoundland late at night, and spent our first night at a hot, and noisy hotel near the airport. The next day, once we had our rental car, we were relieved to check in at the Royle Roost. The apartment was very clean, spacious, blissfully cool and quiet, and there were fresh flowers on the table! It had everything we needed and more. The boys had their own room, and each had their own bed. There were plenty of towels, and linens, and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed. The dining and sitting area were comfortable, and the whole place was nicely decorated. There was a television, and this was one of the few places we stayed that had reliable Wi-Fi! There was also a full size washer and dryer, with laundry soap included. Outside we had a fireplace with four comfy chairs around it, and a spectacular view of Witless Bay! We had several wonderful evenings by the fire, looking out at the bay and at the stars, and listening to the ocean waves. The location was very convenient - only thirty minutes drive from St. John's and the many attractions in and around it. We were also handy to both sea kayaking and whale watching outfits, as well as the south shore road of the Avalon Peninsula. There was a Foodland grocery store and a smaller convenience store close by. Though convenient, it was off the beaten trail, right by the ocean, and beautiful! One morning we could even see whales in the bay, from right outside our door! After a busy day of sightseeing, it was so pleasant to go "home" to our suite and relax. Finally, and best of all, the hospitality of the owner, Judy will always be one of our favourite memories of our trip. She was super warm, friendly, and helpful. We were also blessed to have met and shared some great conversations with some of her charming neighbours and friends. Thank you, Judy! The Royle Roost is an excellent place to stay! I will recommend it to any one that I know who visits Newfoundland. Judy is correct in her property description: "You'll never want to leave."
Oh Carol, how lovely to read your testimonial! Thank you for taking the time to mention EVERYTHING. You and your family should be represented on a poster displayed prominently where parenting courses are taught. The boys were a delight and seemed to enjoy being with the "old folks". I loved my conversations with Fred too. You are welcome back any time.
Great spot just outside St. John's

This spot is more than an apartment. It's a beautiful 2 bedroom basement apartment that doesn't look or feel like a basement apartment. The apartment is lovely and very well appointed. The scenery is phenomenal, with much time spent in Muslims chairs around the fire. The owner, Judy, is lovely and very helpful. I would book here again in an instant. Thanks Judy!

In my personal opinion , if you want to truly experience Newfoundland , you won't find a better place to start than at the Royle Roost. I decided to write this today after driving by yesterday and remembering what a wonderful week I had back in April . I would like to thank and congratulate the owner of the Royle Roost on the wonderful accommodations we so gratefully were given the opportunity to have availed of. This home itself is EXTREMELY well appointed , with amazing character and the ocean right beside the door. This rental property has an in house washer and dryer !!! A very comfortably gracious home ; in every sense of the word. Every thing a body needs and far more and even some amenities from the owner , just because. I would recommend this home away from home for anyone - just wanting to run away to the seaside. I WILLL be back - Over and Over !! It was wonderful whatever we needed was at hand , if not already there. pick up whatever food item you want just down the road . All the conveniences , all the time It's the perfect get away 30 minutes from St. John's. And now there are icebergs in the cove , not just water !! I cannot say Thank you enough to owners for providing an amazingly peaceful home for us and others. I do hope more people talk about the wonderful experience and the beauty that is the Royle Roost in Witless Bay , Newfoundland !Thank you , Thank you Thank you !!!

1. Good location. 2. Scenic. 3. Clean. 4. Should pay more attention to little things which are quite annoying like squeaking of doors, broken dishwasher, not enough kitchen wares, etc. 5. Should have unlimited supply of paper towel, bathroom tissues, etc. 6. Too many small ornamental stuff in a small space. 7. Should have a visual check out but not to complain after clients have left.
Thank you for the lovely testimonial you wrote in our guestbook. According to other feedback from guests, our kitchen facilities more than meet expectations. Kleenex, toilet paper and paper towels were provided for your entire stay. There is also a sign by the entrance door, "Please treat this space with the respect you would in your own home. Contents found missing or broken will be charged to your credit card."
So much gratitude for this incredible space and the memories created here that will last beyond this lifetime. xo
