Description of the St Johnsbury vacation cottage rental
Wilderness setting on Symes Pond, East Ryegate, Vermont. Super fishing for perch, pickeral, horned-pout(catfish), small mouth bass, wall- eyed pike. Watch for loons, beaver, and moose as you explore two adjoining ponds, 70-acre Upper and Lower Symes, bordered by 500 acres of forest with miles of hiking trails, all owned by your hosts, the Blaisdell's.

There are only four cottages on Symes Pond, private and secluded from each other by at least 500 feet with trees in between. Each is located directly on the pond with spectacular views from each front porch. These knotty pine cottages each feature a cathedral ceiling, glass front wood-stove or fire pit, satellite TV, free wi fi for emails available at central location at specified hours, full kitchen, gas heat, private sandy beach that has a gradual slope; perfect for the young ones.

Each cottage has a wood fired outdoor hot tub constructed of Eastern White Cedar available for rent. Fire up your tub and soak in the natural beauty of Symes Pond. Each seats six.

A free canoe or row boat is provided to each cottage. A paddle boat is shared between the campers. Kayaks are available for rent. A bundle of firewood is provided at no charge. Additional firewood is available for a small fee or you can collect your own for free.

Please send me an email and I will respond with an attachment with full information including rates and payment instructions. The rates quoted here are for our smallest one bedroom Boulder Bluff cottage that sleeps 6. Loon Lodge and Eagle's Nest cottages with two bedrooms that sleep 8 are $200 more per week. Our largest Moose Landing that also sleeps 8 has 3 bedrooms and is $400 more per week. Each cottage also has an open sleeping loft in addition to the bedrooms.

Boulder Bluff Cabin

October 19, 2015

This was my second visit, the first time we stayed at Loon Lodge. The cabins are beautiful and immaculate. The surroundings are breath taking, nature at it's best.

Owner's reply:

Thank you Donna for your kind review. Boulder Bluff is very special especially in the fall with the beautiful foliage. I hope you can make it back next year. Carl

The cabin was immaculate, scenery beautiful, quiet+and Carl was wonderful checking on us the 2nd day. Taking the canoe on the pond was breathtaking and serene. There was an extra fridge on the porch allowing us needed room for cold items!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why Choose Our Cottages?
A: These cottages are secluded, each with a beautiful view of the pond, surrounded by woods, cottages not visible from each other, absolutely no road noise. My cottages are the only ones on the pond. I own one side;the State of Vermont owns the opposite, undeveloped side of Symes Pond
Q: How far to shopping, restaurants, etc.?
A: Only 12 minutes to a Super Walmart , restaurants, etc.
Q: Do I need any special vehicle to get in?
A: No. Any car will have no problem traveling our well-maintained roads
Q: Are motor boats allowed on the pond?
A: We do not allow motor boats
Q: What is included?

Q: What about wifi?
A: Wifi is available at a central location on the premises every two hours . Usage is limited because of data charges the owner must pay for service in this remote area. We do have a strong Verizon signal for those who have Verizon phones or other equipment. Smart phones work well.
Q: Cell phone reception?
A: Verizon has a strong signal . AT&T has a weak signal but works in some locations
Q: How is the swimming?
A: Each cottage has its own private beach that gets deeper gradually. The water is warm. There is a float to swim out to. Great for young children
