“Wonderful Maine Vacation”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2016

We just got home from vacationing at Fort Point Cove Cottage with friends of ours. We had a great week. The house was very comfortable and did not lack anything from a well stocked kitchen, to a comfortable living room to king size beds. We really enjoyed the large screened in porch. A great place to have coffee in the morning and just relax and enjoy the view of the bay. Darlene was a pleasure to work with. No matter when I had a question or concern prior to the rental, Darlene always got back to me usually within the hour. She was a pleasure to work with. The house was extremely quiet. Being located in Stockton Springs made it easy to see everything in the mid-coast area from Acadia National Park to Freeport and every little town in between. We even drove to Baxter State Park one day. I know you will enjoy your stay at Fort Point Cove Cottage.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Oct 1, 2015: This property is outstanding. More than perfect for 2 couples and a teenager. Spacious, well outfitted, spotless. Brilliant sun in the morning and a lovely water view. Very comfortable beds, good working kitchen. We ate in and out, including several visits to nearby Shutes for live lobsters, oysters and clams. Really, I can't say enough about this wonderful property. Also very convenient location for going up and down the coast or inland. Due to the off-road location, absolutely quiet and dark and night. Plus the owner was responsive and friendly. 5-star all around.

Sep 1, 2015: I wish I could give this property more than 5 stars. I've stayed at numerous vacation rentals over the years, and this one was by far the best. You can tell that the property is managed by the owner, who also vacations there. The house itself is very comfortable, from the bed linens to the towels, living room furniture, throws, etc... I wish it had been chilly enough to use the fireplace. The view was fabulous. Darlene was easily accessible by phone, email, and text. I can't wait to go back!!!!

Aug 13, 2015: We loved our stay at Fort Point Cove Cottage. Unlike many who signed the guestbook, we spent a lot of time at the property, mostly on the screened porch. We arrived stressed and exhausted, and left relaxed and refreshed. The only difficulty was finding the place when we arrived after dark. Thank goodness for our GPS or we'd still be wandering around. We did enjoy a visit to the Windsor Chairmakers in Lincolnville. Also breakfasts at the Coastal Cafe in Belfast and the Good Kettle around the corner from the house. (Don't be deceived by the lack of a printed breakfast menu, there are lots of choices.) And we liked picking up lobster at Shute's and eating it on the porch of the house.

Aug 1, 2015: It took us 40 years of marriage to finally get to Maine! My mother-in-law was born and raised in Princeton, Maine; and I heard those wonderful stories of Maine's beauty for years. We were looking for a property that was centrally located and found just that in the Fort Point Cove Cottage. Every single detail listed in the description was exact and more. Upon arrival on Sunday afternoon, we were awestruck by the beauty of this property. I will have to say that we loved the screened porch. We sat out there every night until the chilly air drove us in (which, by the way, was so refreshing since we left 100 degree weather behind). You can enjoy the serenity of the bay views from every room in the house. The home is very well furnished and we raved over the comfort. Each of the beds were extremely comfortable. The owner, Darlene, is a jewel! She provided wonderful insight to the area before we arrived and the Friends of the Fort Point Cove Cottage FB page helped tremendously. She called to make sure everything was satisfactory upon our arrival. She was even so kind as to offer suggestions as to places to try lobster for the very first time. We would definitely recommend this property to all our friends! While there, we enjoyed visiting Campobello Island in Canada, making our trip a two nation vacation. Bar Harbor is less than one hour away and we spent two days there since there were a variety of activities, namely whale watching and Acadia National Park. We feel in love with the town of Belfast, Maine. It was only 20 minutes away and provided some very good eateries. Young's Lobster Pound is a must try! And being a little bookish, we loved Bella Books which is a quaint little bookstore right in Belfast. We also visited Fort Knox, Camden and just took a scenic drive along the coast. We are looking forward to returning to the Fort Point Cove cottage!!

Jun 6, 2015: Our family stayed at Fort Point Cove Cottage in Late May/Early June, 2015 and couldn't have been more pleased with our time there. The setting is just beautiful and simply looking out over the back lawn and to the Bay brought an instant feeling of calm and relaxation, a sight we enjoyed daily whether it was the sun shimmering on the water, the fog rolling in over the Cove on an overcast day or the amazing colors of the sky after a storm, it was a spectacular view and one we never tired of. The Cottage is centrally located in the quaint town of Stockton Springs, a perfect location to see Rockland, Camden and Boothbay Harbor to the south or Stonington, Bar Harbor and of course the beauty of Acadia to the North. The towns of Bucksport, Belfast and Stockton Springs quickly became our favorite close haunts to explore the small villages and their harbors and waterfronts. The Cottage itself is fully equipped with everything you need, is exceptionally clean and well taken care of, comfortable, quiet and relaxing. In addition, the Owner, Darlene, has added so many personal touches for your comfort that you truly feel both at home and pampered. Even our Golden Retriever, Chase, was treated to Darlene's special touch with his own bed, toys and bowls for his enjoyment. I can't say enough about helpful and generous these Owners are with their home and their time and assistance should you need it during your stay. Be sure to visit The Good Kettle or Just Barbs in Stockton Springs, breakfast was great at the Harbor View Grill in Bucksport and don't miss the Dairy Port or Crosby's for ice cream in Bucksport too. All in all, this was a great vacation in a wonderful home! Thank you Darlene for all your help in making our time there so pleasant and enjoyable! We would recommend a stay here to anyone wanting to experience Maine and all it has to offer!!
