“Perfect Maine Escape”
From both of us: Our stay at Cove Meadow cottage was nothing short of magical. To say that the location and the setting are stunning would be an understatement. You could not ask for a more visually pleasing vista and the cottage is the perfect Maine getaway. The cottage itself is comfortable for a couple and the living room and kitchen are perfectly situated to enjoy views of the Cove through the many windows. The surrounding towns are charming and Lindsay was helpful with suggestions on what to do in the area. To be perfectly honest, we were content to stay put, sit by the cove, watch the sunset and bask in the beauty of Cove Meadow. We first stayed here 8 years ago on our first vacation together and it marked the beginnings of a beautiful relationship. On this visit, we turned that relationship into a lifelong commitment. This will remain a truly special place for us. Thank you Lindsay!
Last week my husband and I stayed at Heron Cottage for the third time. Each time has been wonderful. The setting is lovely; the cottage looks out at the pretty meadow with grassy paths that lead to the cove. The cottage is practically wall-to-wall windows, rustic in feel with exposed beams and natural wood, but elegant (a good word) as well -- with nice features like stainless sink and countertops, a nice espresso maker, DW, an actual set of dishes, good pots and pans, every conceivable tool for cooking and baking and comfortable bedding. Lindsay is wonderful -- friendly, helpful, knowledgeable -- and she invites guests to use the canoes and kayaks by the water's edge. Cove is perfect -- big enough to paddle out "a ways", but protected. Lindsay welcomes guests with fresh cut flowers (from the gardens just outside the cottage) in vases and the radio tuned quietly to the local classical/jazz station. We highly recommend this cottage to singles or couples or very, very good friends.
“Beautiful Honeymoon away from it all”
Lindsay and her beautiful property just can't be beat. We stayed there for almost a week of wonderful honeymoon. The cove is just a short walk from the cottage (past several beautifully maintained gardens filled with herbs and other vegetables as well as meadows of blooming lupins). Mostly my new husband and I just relaxed in the serenity of the cottage and the property (campfires on the waters-edge at sunset just can't be beat), but we also took advantage of Stonington Harbor, nearby Acadia, and a whole series of hidden gems that Lindsay shared with us. The cottage itself is well-appointed, with a very workable kitchen and enough room to lounge. We plan on returning. Lindsay: Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful place with us! We can't imagine a better place to honeymoon (or for vacations in the future).
“Wonderful Maine getaway”
Beautiful little cottage in Stonington, Deer Isle. Very well equipped. Small but functional kitchen, including dishwasher and cappuccino maker. Nice bathroom with soaking jacuzzi tub. Lots of windows, making one feel like you're outside, even when you're in. Deck with small table & chairs. Big plus was having use of 2 kayaks & canoe as well as fire pit for evening fires & stargazing. Very accommodating owner. Our only issue was being able to hear road traffic. We had a great 5 days at Heron cottage.
Owner's reply: Loved having you both. The lobster men do roar down 15Ain their big trucks on the way to their boats at 4 am but usually it is only a short space of time as they all arrive at the harbor at once( and our fleet isn't that big!!!!). Otherwise very quiet on 15A in general even in peak season and the very deep set back from the road affords both privacy and sound buffer from the light daily traffic on 15A. Thanks for taking the time to write and being such lovely guests.
“Clean, quiet and scenic location”
The cottage was bright and very clean. This was our home base to explore Deer Isle, Blue Hill and Acadia National Park. Lindsay was very friendly and accommodating to my 92 year old dad who vacationed with me. Hopefully we will have opportunities to vacation together again, but we were able to share many wonderful experiences during our stay. It has been years since we played Monopoly, and we found out we still had a good time even as adults playing Monopoly. The cottage is well stocked with games and books. Be prepared to unplug from cell and the internet if you stay in this cottage.
Owner's reply: Thanks Deb..enjoyed having you both..your Dad is an inspiration.ATT has no cell service anywhere in Deer Isle or Stonington the cottage has a telephone with unlimited US and Canada calling & and answering machine. There is on site wif fi . Folk were down at the fire pit tonight working on the internet with excellent hi speed reception. Ocasionally there is an ATT signal down there too.
