“Wonderful accommodations”

Just returned from an 8-night stay and would highly recommend this home. Beautiful location along the West River and within easy driving distance to many sites. Hope to return to VT sometime and will certainly plan on making this our home base once again.

“Pet friendly with master suite on main floor...”

We have an older dog who now has trouble with stairs so this worked out well. Pretty property with a deck overlooking the river. Each bedroom has an attached bath. The kitchen is functional with lots of dishes and flatware, pots, pans and baking dishes. Bring all you need to do meals with you (grocery stores are a little $$) and you will enjoy!

“All the comforts of home...”

The weather allowed us to spend a week with the windows open which let us to listen to the river below. The deck is such a great perk. If you want to cook while you are there, you will find lots of equipment to work with, just bring your food and enjoy the large kitchen! It overlooks the living area which is comfy and a bath in every bedroom is most appreciated. This house is a very easy stay! ENJOY!!!!

“Foliage on the river”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2012

We had a great, relaxing stay in this beautiful home with a wonderful view. The home was well appointed and very clean and best of all, we were able to bring our dog so that he could be part of our vacation too. There was a great trail to walk along the river right at the end of the road. The owners were available by e-mail to answer any questions. The town is located on a very scenic Rt 100. No complaints at all. We left with all great memories.

Owner's reply: Ann, thank you! We are happy your visit was so enjoyable and appreciate that you chose our home for your stay in Vermont. Please think of us the next time you plan a Vermont vacation...and your four-legged family member is always welcome!

“Lovely home, lovely setting.”

This was our second stay at this home and we, once again, loved it. The view of the river out back and the quality of the accommodations were great. We particularly enjoyed the dart game and table tennis available in the basement. Close access to Bromley and Manchester (for shopping and dining) were an added attraction.

“A wonderful experience..”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2011

We've had previous home rental experience, but only in Florida to get away from cold New England winters. Renting this large, beautful home during the 4th of July week was a spontaneous decision to get together with children and grandchildren in an amazing area of the country that is actually only a couple of hours from our home, but so vastly different from our own town. There is lots to do in the sSummer in an area best known for Fall and Winter get-aways. Professional theater, Vermont Country store, discount outlets and an Adventure Park at a local ski area kept family members busy, and we had an amazing home to come back to and gather for family meals. The house is extremely well-equipped and met our needs beautifully. Our hosts are to be commended for making guests feel welcome.

YOUR home in Vermont is absolutely beautiful.......We did not want for anything (you thought of everything).........It was a MOST pleasant trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Your home is very large, very beautiful and very well maintained.

Out of our entire family - I must say Your home, our home, was the best of 5 or 6 homes rented........everyone was jealous.

Dealing with you was also a delight - very organized and very kind and true to your description of the home entirely.

Thanks again and believe me IF we do come that way again I sure will call you.

Janice & Dan, Lakeland, FL, Summer 2009

Thank you so much for the use of your lovely home. We had a great time! Also, we appreciated and liked all of the nice scented soaps. Warmest regards, Elizabeth & Peter, VA, Summer 2010

Now that we are safely home and our kids are back into their routine I want to take a few moments to tell you how much we enjoyed your home. It was obvious from the moment we came and the lovely notes and tips that you left us just how much you wanted us to have a great time. (we enjoyed the pancakes for breakfast, as well!) The decor of the house down to the little details enhanced our stay. The deck and the babbling brook were delightful and we spent such terrific family time there. We loved the little day trips to Manchester, Bennington etc. and the down time we all so much needed. We tried very hard to leave the house as we found it. Thank you again for being so accommodating. We hope that perhaps we will be able to come back again next year. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Hi Linda, thank you so much for letting us stay in your home. It worked out perfectly for us and it was just a short drive to Weston to see our daughter in her shows. The mud room was a perfect place for Molly when we were out and for sleeping at night. It was like she had her own little bedroom. We loved the deck and the sound of the river! It was so relaxing! Can't wait for our return!
Thanks again,

It was so wonderful to be back in Vermont last week. We had a terrific time and the house was as lovely as we remembered it. It was like being back home! We enjoyed meeting Henry when we arrived. He was so friendly and welcoming. I think what surprised me most was how many new things we managed to find and do while we were there. We went blueberry and peach picking, went up on a gondola ride, and visited Calvin Coolidge's birth house. Thanks again for you hospitality. I hope we can visit again.
Marcy, NJ, Summer 2011

Linda & Henry,
Thank you so much for the use of your home. We all loved it. It was a great family bonding vacation!
And we even got to eat breakfast outside on the deck yesterday since it was finally sunny!!!!:-)
We all had a great time but I think Macey enjoyed it the most. She loved being with us & yesterday she even went wading in the river.
Your home is beautiful & we would gladly use it again if we come up to Vermont!!!!
I made pancakes yesterday morning, so thank you for our yummy breakfast. That was so thoughtful of you. Pam and family, NY, June 2012

We had a great time and truly hated to leave. The house is beautiful and bright and we found it impeccably clean. The house is very well equipped - you thought of everything to make guests feel at home. We live in an older house with less open-space so we loved the spacious kitchen/living room and enjoyed cooking together without bumping into one another! Our boys share a bathroom at home and LOVED having a "suite" all to themselves (they're identical twins, so they've had to share a lot! ) And the master bedroom/bathroom is exceptional. In all, it's a great house and we loved everything about it. We hiked on the trail at the end of your road, walked to The Pantry, enjoyed watching the chickens, horses, and Shetland pony across the street. We hiked Bromley, rode bikes, and splashed a bit in the river. We loved hearing the sound of the river from every room . Thank you for the pancake mix and local maple syrup - they were delicious. And, what a surprise to find the pink neckerchief for Snickers! She's a sweet but rather funny, happy- go-lucky dog and we all had a great laugh seeing her wear something pink and girly! Thank you for thinking of her. Thanks for everything - I hope we'll return someday.
Diane, Connecticut, Summer 2013

Linda & Henry, we enjoyed the house very much. It is really a work of art and it is in a very special, secluded place. We and Guin enjoyed the West River Trail and the valley as a whole.

Fly fishing was a bit challenging; low water or high water temps made conditions marginal. In fact we've been struggling with that on our trips up there. However, we're not arriving at the best time of the year for fly fishing -- mid summer. We're thinking about changing the time of year for the trip up there.

Also, we had been scouting for soapstone for Kathy's counter tops here in NC and forgot a sample at the house. It's on one of the lamp stands in the living room. It's blue/green and will make a very nice place to set a glass. In a month it'll be the stone our counters will be made from. We also left a hardcover book as a donation to the visitor's library. ... It's a bit of a tradition.

I'll probably be contacting Henry to get a better handle on the conditions of the nearby rivers, including the West earlier in the year. We'd be happy to return to your home if it is available next year and we can get the fly fishing dialed in a little better.

Thank you for sharing your home,

Shawn, North Carolina, Summer 2013

Our stay in VT was just lovely. The house was perfect for our needs and you provide an awesome array of toys for kids which kept everyone so happy! The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment, which we appreciated!
