About the area

We have been renting Asheville Lookout Chalet for more than ten years. We have a great team, Lee and Holly, who handle maintenance and housekeeping for us. We love our vacation home and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do! Answers to Frequent Questions: The Chalet is 3 miles from Warren Wilson College and within 10 miles of Montreat, Lake Eden, the Ridgecrest Conference Center, Rockmont, Timberlake, MerriMac, and the Billy Graham Conference Center. The beautiful Biltmore Estate is 15 miles away via Highway 40. Pet owners are welcome to hike around the upper part of the property using the trail adjoining the driveway. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is not required to reach Asheville Lookout for most of the year; it may be necessary for winter rentals. Security resident on-site, housekeeper and maintenance available. Shopping and Restaurants: The nearest grocery store is Ingles Market on Route 70, 4 miles from the Chalet. This is a large, well stocked store with an exceptional selection of products. They also have a full service pharmacy, extended shopping hours, self-checkout, and accept major credit cards. Black Mountain (10 miles) has many wonderful restaurants; we can personally recommend the Black Mountain Bistro, Athen's Pizza, the Veranda Cafe and Las Cuezelas. For amazing bar-b-que, you shouldn't miss Okie Dokies Smokehouse. Start your morning with a visit to the Dripolator Coffeehouse on State Street.

Getting around

Owner Supplied Testimonials

We spent New Years here with the extended family and it was ideal for a large group. The house was fully stocked with everything we could have ever needed and more. The house felt very spacious even with it being full of people and we especially enjoyed mornings on the large deck looking at the views. Bob and Lorna were very pleasant to work with and flexible with our changing schedule - thank you! We would highly recommend this house for a mountain getaway. It's also in great commuting distance to Asheville, and an uber/taxi home was very reasonable. We would love to come back again! Holly G. January 31, 2016

Our family gathered at the Lookout Chalet for the Christmas holiday, and it was wonderful! The house is beautiful, comfortable and well equipped. We used the kitchen for many meals, and it had everything we needed. We also grilled out and enjoyed the fire pit. It is in a good location for Asheville, Black Mountain, Biltmore Estates, and hiking. The driveway was a little steep for our front wheel drive (small SUV), especially after some heavy rain, but we managed and it was no problem compared to the great time we had there! Susan P. We chose the Asheville Lookout Chalet for our family reunion. Great choice! The home is beautiful, clean, comfortable and spacious, with lots of windows and a big deck with a mountain view. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning listening to the birds. In the evening, grilling on the deck and room for the whole family around the dining room table was a real treat. The kitchen had everything we needed and all the bedrooms were comfy and quiet. The kids loved the loft. Twenty minutes to everything we wanted to do in the Asheville area. We hope to come back some day! SFM June 26, 2015

This house is awesome! The porch is huge and has a great view! Plenty of room in the house and it is very nice. Close to Pisgah Brewing as well as Asheville. We had a great visit and would definitely come back!!! Sharolyn E, June 22, 2015

My friends and I had an amazing time enjoying this vacation home. There was ample room for us, and the openness of the living area and decks were wonderful. We also enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Thank you again for offering your home for the weekend!! Lindsay H., April 24, 2015

Very beautiful and private! The deck is wonderful and a nice place to spend time in the sun and enjoying the view of the valley. I loved the kitchen too and the home is beautiful, comfortable, and you feel like you are on vacation as soon as you enter. Anonymous Guest, April 12, 2015

The photos do NOT do this house justice!! It is gorgeous and updated since these pictures were taken. Bob and Lorna were so gracious to accommodate us last minute. The house was easy to find, no trouble navigating from the recent ice & snow. We arrived to an immaculate home with a cabin feel. Bob was so kind to call me ahead of time to answer any questions I might have. There is plenty of room for our group of 2 adults and 6 kids. They have loved playing all the board games in the cabinet and we have all enjoyed the hot tub! I had the best nights sleep I've had in a while, snuggled up under fresh luxurious bed linens. I was truly shocked at how beautiful this house is in person. It's huge, with tons of storage! The gas logs are so welcoming and the outdoor fire pit has provided a fun relaxing time for all! It's 10 miles from Asheville and easy to get to. I would definitely recommend it and we will be coming back in the future! Emily H., February 21, 2015
